clearly not, since the ABCT is still the main maneuver element of the army
there are planned to be more active division armored divisions than infantry divisions, in fact, after the transition to a divisional reorganization for conventional wars
almost all infantry divisions will be reserve units under the national guard, 2 of the 3 planned active divisions will be the specialized airborne and mountain divisions
while there will be 5 armored divisions in active duty and 1 national guard armored division in active duty
No. They've simply lost enough of their superweapon status normies are noticing. From WW2 through the 1960s tank rushes were the meta. The hard counter to artillery spam.
Without some sort of direct intervention, Ukraine is going to lose eventually. Russia will just continue to make Mobikubes(tm) out of its underclass until Ukraine runs out of warm bodies. Its how Russia has waged war for basically forever and it keeps working because people keep forgetting that its what Russia does.
No. Give them drone charging pods with autonomous spotters that ID targets and threats. Maybe some lighter than air drones to keep constant surveillance up. Have them move with a drone screen at all times.
Then, maybe up the gun to 155mm so they can fire loitering munitions, longer range ATGMs, EFP firing smart shells, and spotters out of it. Use them as part of an inteconnected force so that they can take advantage of targeting solutions from UAVs, MLRS and artillery launched drones, seismic detectors fired out ahead, etc.
Then have them engage at distances or like 10+ miles whenever possible, which will be often. Tanks won't ever be obsolete because you will always need heavy armor for certain rolls. But tank battles, like dog fighting, are obsolete. Within visual range engagements are dumb when infantry can fire loitering munitions out of a mortar tube and "ambush" you from 8 miles away.
Obviously tanks will need AP and SHORAD around them. Interception will be key in the battle space of the future, where autonomous spotters and autonomous batteries increase fire mission speed and accuracy by huge margins. But you'll still need armor in some cases.
However, you might as well make the gun big so you can actually use the thing in BVR situations too.

Logistic chains and warm bodies are all that matters. Equip them however you want. Whoever has more wins. The end.
>Whoever has more wins. The end.
Then why is Russia losing in Ukraine?
Can't believe they still pay you to say this lol
They don't, moron does it for free unironically.

it's amazing how an entire post can be discredited by the first 6 words
Not bad but I'd like to see some sort of anti-drone armament.
Maybe 20mm airburst rounds from a RWS.
>muh drones
Mexico doesn't use tanks. That's how you know they're ineffective.
no
email me if you want a pizza roll
yes
instead of tanks we should have tracked heavy IFVs with large calibre guns
abrahamabrams is not obsolete, none were destroyed so far, and hundreds are in service in Ukraine
Since AeroGavin was invented, yes. It combines drone and tank.
