instead of stacking rocks we should be stacking the corpses of the rockstackers

      >portaging and looking for the trail head

Ahh perfect. So glad my ancestors started hanging rockstackers in 2024.

and looking for the trail head
Cairns are different. Cairns are built to indicate a route across a rocky area, and are really important, both above treeline and, as you say, to indicate a portage route.

Most of the times, "stacked rocks" are a kind of aesthetic vandalism. My theory is that true outdoors-enjoyers would never stack rocks, but they might bring their girlfriend or children, who might get bored with just the woods, and they are the ones who stack rocks.

Using piles of human skulls as trailmarkers is both metal and based.

You know what? I go hiking to see nature. Not your fricking "art" projects.
    Frick stackers.
Go play with blocks in your shitty urban hellhole.
Panda Brothers even made a block set just for buttholes like you.

All fricking rock stackers must hang.
That being said the sign is not really drawing a connection.

      >That being said the sign is not really drawing a connection.
Where is the disconnect happening for you?

      dragonfly nymphs are aquatic
they cling to the bottoms of rocks
when you take the rock out of the creek bed, the dragonfly nymph comes out of the water with it
the dragonfly nymph dies when stacked into your art project
we like dragonflies because they eat mosquitoes
your actions caused the world to be a worse place

I dont know why they don't elaborate on signs. It should just say what you just wrote. With the addition of "all rock stackers may have rocks thrown at them"

The point of signs is to indicate a rule. If there's too much text, it becomes tl;dr and people don't read them.

          >don't drink and drive
The more someone sees it, the more they think about it. They'll make the connection eventually. The sign doesn't need to say "by quasi-incapacitating your ability to reason and your fine motor skills, you are playing a kind of Russian roulette, except with other people, who are completely innocent. Drinking and driving is just as dangerous as firing a gun into a building. You probably won't kill someone the first time, but you are taking actions that change the probability of killing a random person from 0.000000% by not doing the action to now around 5% by doing the action. You monster."

I feel like insults and direct threats of physical violence would at least spice the sign up enough for people to read it

              >DON'T STACK THE ROCKS
              >BY STACKING ROCKS, YOU ARE KILLING DRAGONFLIES
              >THE LAS DRAGONFLAYAS CARTEL PATROLS THESE WOODS
              >IF YOU KILL A DRAGONFLY, THEY WILL FIND YOU AND WILL BRING YOU TO JUSTICE
              >ONE DIGIT OF YOUR FINGERS OR TOES WILL BE REMOVED PER DRAGONFLY KILLED
              >ONCE YOU RUN OUT OF FINGERS AND TOES, THEY WILL REMOVE ARMS, LEGS, EYES, GENITALS...
              >DON'T OFFEND LAS DRAGONFLAYAS OR ELSE

Take the rocks out of the creek bed.

So the sign should read "please do not stack rocks in or from the creek"

I know what they meant but the sign its self reads as two unrelated things.

Look at the creek behind it. Where are you most likely to find rocks? In the water.

This is what happens when you allow humans to breed uncontrollably. Since every locust eats a bite, we have to control how many bites we take instead of controlling how many locusts there are.

Unrelated, but you ever think about how terrifying dragonflies big enough to eat people would be? You wouldnt even see them coming. All of a sudden youd just see your buddies shoes go flying and a rush of wind that knocks you off your feet.

I had a friend who would make a little stack in the forest behind his house when he went hiking around. He wasn't a social media type, and it was crazy to see at least 100 stacks that accumulated over the years when I went hiking with him.

Why do people stack rocks? I've seen this before so many times in the forests, but did not understand the concept. I thought it was a sign of some sorts indicating direction.

Always thought it looked tacky though. Some stereotypy of some sort. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Has been used for showing / indicating trails / landmarks since forever probably, but these small and randomly placed stacks are just because someone started doing it and it's a fad for mongos

just today i went into my old stomping ground woods to see the rune carvings me and my friends made and painted some 20 years ago
could not find anything because moss had covered everything and place was plus minus 30 meters to every direction

i remember back in the day old people wrote in the paper how these satan worshipping young people were carving their satanic stones all over the place
i wish i had cut those out and saved them
