Soon will be getting my first gun and I've narrowed it down to two choices... Glock 17 Gen 1 reissue or S&W 642... I'll likely get both at some point but what would be better to start with? This will mostly stay at home but I will definitely conceal carry at times.
Wtf is wrong with prigozhin
Upsets me that one day my body will look like that
>Glock 17 Gen 1 Repro
Literally zero reason to get this unless you're a collector. It's a Gen 3 G17 without a rail. A full-sized Glock is also a pretty bad choice for concealed carry. A 642 isn't a terrible choice, but I wouldn't recommend a DAO revolver for someone's first gun either.
Since you already narrowed it down to a Glock, get a Gen 3 G19 as your first, practical gun. You can always buy fun stuff down the line.
I feel like it will be more used for shooting in the woods and sitting in a drawer than carrying, but who knows, that could change. open carry is getting banned in my state so conceal is the only option
I am open to other suggestions. I like gen 1 for the look...
>I feel like it will be more used for shooting in the woods
All the more reason you would want a rail for a potential light attachment. Again, you can always buy the Gen 1 Glock later.
If you want a totally all-around pistol and you don't plan on buying more in the near future, I'd get a midsize 9mm rather than a full size. So if you're a Glock guy, then a G19. It's big enough to shoot comfortably and accurately but small enough to CCW with a decent holder under a shirt.
Have you handled any of these guns? The G17 is like 3 times larger than a Smith 642. It's also a good idea to handle guns before buying because some guns just don't fit certain people's hands.
unless you have manlet pussy hands the 17 is fine.
Manlet advice, disregard, the 19 sucks compared to the 17.
Get both
Not a bad idea idea he rug
The gen1's had inherent problems. 90% of the glockgrenades you see posted are gen1 glocks. The other 9.999% are bubba's pissin hot loads.
The g17 is easier to appendix carry than the g19.
Those aren't comparable guns. The Glock is a home/range/sport/open-carry/CCW-with-difficulty gun. The Smith is a short distance concealed piece that isn't pleasant to casually shoot. I'd go with the Glock unless CCW is the only reason you're getting it. But I'd get a Glock with a rail unless you're an insufferable hipster.
Actually personally I wouldn't get a Glock at all, but I'm trying to stay within that bounds of your question.
>I've narrowed it down to Glock 17 or S&W 642
get a revolver in .357 magnum
get a FiveSeven to be really cool
And go broke
