The most decorated US soldier of WW2 was a gigamanlet who was refused entry to the army for malnutrition
Marine/SEAL gymbro culture was a mistake, not that I'm not an advocate of PrepHolegaygory for the population as a whole

    >focus on cardio and endurance
hype beast physiques run out of steam too quick for most fighting

it depends on the era. if we are talking about back when comabt was done with swords and spears then strength is a huge factor. these days with technology its all about being a manlet with high cardio endurance since all you have to do is move your index finger and run from spot to spot

The one that has the best cardio and can lift the necessary amount of weight for combat. So basically anyone that is a roid junkie is not an ideal soldier.

I've never seen anyone like this with an actual combat MOS, that DOESNT look like butthole casserole after a real deployment. The shit wears you down hard. Ironically, the skinny fat dudes come out the other end looking relatively unchanged. Not that I don't advocated for fitness both for health and looks for every day life.

Because skinnyfat is not an issue of them having too much fat, but rather them having too little muscles to the point their bodies lose definition. Skinnyfats stay the same because they don't require much energy to maintain muscles and such.

Muscles burn calories just by doing nothing. Good for office workers. Not ideal for soldiers in the field.

Logistics and nutrition has gotten good enough to where it doesn't really matter.
Obviously, you don't want a roidtroony in your squad but you can be significantly stronger than the average joe and still be effective.

Even without logistics and nutrition, soldiers burn like 5k-6k calories per day on the field. They eat like 3k calories per days.
