So I just found out these guys have done more combat missions than the entire Marine Corps in the past five years.
To give perspective, less than 4,000 personnel are providing more strategic value than approximately 200,000 people.
Everyone knows we should disband the Marines, but is it feasible?

Did a rotation as an enabler for 75th to Bastion. Marines refused to support a snatch and grab on an HVT when we asked them to step up with the big boys and provide a QRF. They didn’t want to leave the FOB at night. Rangers are literally the military equivalent of a SWAT team. Marines are beat cops with an over inflated ego. Frick those pussies they’re even more insufferable than the 82nd.
To be fair they probably didn't have night vision and/or much training for night ops.
All they had to do was sit in a fricking APC and give us a ride if shit went so bad that the birds couldn’t come in which realistically wasn’t going to happen.
I unironically had the same experience in Syria in 2019 during the last bits of sporadic fighting. Marines literally wouldn't move anywhere without an escort from the Army.
They’re all fricking talk and very little action when it comes down to it. Imagine being afraid to go out and park your APC on a recently cleared road and wait for a few hours while a completely different strike force that outnumbers the enemy 8-1 actually does the potential fighting for you. Had we gone the reality is the Rangers would have rolled in, done the call out, smoked two or three as they tried to get to the dishka we saw them fricking around with, then the HVT would have clacked himself off or surrendered like so many others before him, and then they would have dipped out on the birds while the Marines sped back to the FOB to give themselves medals for conducting a totally dangerous specops mission bro.

We had one that hung out in the SCIF with my team leader before we all dipped out to our individual assignments. Had a bunch of fancy gear even by JSOC standards and he’d snuck his personal Sig in with aftermarket trigger. Did good on our little range contest. Never left the FOB though.
