So I have a sump pump in my basement. When the power goes out, it will beep to let you know the power is out. I plan on going out of town for a couple of weeks
My wife will not go down into the basement at all. She wants me to unplug the pump which I don’t want to do
How can I muffle the speaker to where it’s almost silent?
>How can I muffle the speaker to where it’s almost silent?
how about that switch at the top that turns the alarm off. or are you talking about your wife.
When you turn that alarm off it still beeps
What would that do? Puncture the speaker? Why does it have to be red hot?
The heat will melt through the plastic grill and allow you to cripple the speaker.
I’m worried that could damage other electronics connected to it. I don’t know what the speaker looks like either.
>I don’t know what the speaker looks like either
>power goes out with such reliability that this is even an issue
Tell the b***h to distract herself by calling up the power company and screaming at them for apparently having 5th world infrastructure.
The extreme heat sterilizes the metal; you want to shut her up not kill her with infection in the wound. Presumably.
>When you turn that alarm off it still beeps
As someone who has one of those, just gotta say -- terrible pump guardian design. Yes, it does alert you to problems, but any problem whatsoever and the thing beeps incessantly, even after you've gone down to the basement or crawl space at 11 PM, diagnosed the problem, and just want to go to sleep for the night to deal with it later after you can make a trip to the hardware stores after work. Even the slide switch to shut it up during a power failure is considered a "problem" by it after power has come back on. And it's not like you can just unplug the pump from it either, no -- the float controls go through the alarm box which then turns the pump on or off, and if you're looking to figure out if you can change that, their manual provides jack shit information for doing so.
Bottom line Glentronics, put a fricking mute button on the thing. A real mute button, one that basically says, "I KNOW the fricking float switch is fricked, I'll deal with it after the hardware stores open and I can get a replacement, it's 2 AM and you're STILL FRICKING BEEPING!"
So how can the sound be muffled?
On the inside smartass
>On the inside
The speaker will be directly behind those holes. It will be a small black cylinder like a piezo buzzer. You can't possibly miss it.
Use a torch to heat up a screwdriver until it glows red. Then push the end of the driver into the speaker.

this thread is hilarious. it's like op is playing a game of 'show me on the image where im moronic'
I finally figured out what do to. Order a “dumber” control box that just runs the pump and nothing else
Bump
Thanks
Put some plasticine or duct seal over the holes, it absorbs sound extremely well.
Could I duct tape a foam ear plug over the holes?
Bump
don't bump this shitty thread will be around for days or weeks.
