so essentially she was just a fan service for middle-aged white women who imagine themselves as leaders in a post apocalyptic world?
Preparedness & self-sufficiency community
so essentially she was just a fan service for middle-aged white women who imagine themselves as leaders in a post apocalyptic world?
I am glad this fat bitch is dead. Ruined both episodes, now she is no more.
all modern tv is 'fanservice' for roasties
The best part is that she's a terrible leader who gets everyone killed after being in power for two days.
wait she was in power for only 2 days? LOL
Henry says they took over the city 8 days ago. So at minimum, a week.
It was day 11 when Henry and Sam left their hiding spot. They met up with Joel and Ellie that night, and left the next night. So it was her twelfth day in power that she led everyone to their deaths.
The civilians guys in the city were totally fucked, right?
They will come back to hit joel with a golf club
I'd say so. She took a lot of their soldiers, if not all, and unleashed a fuckton of zombies
Even if she let Henry go, could they have dealt with the bloater problem they kept ignoring?
I mean, even if they ignored Henry and sent all the sodliers to the serwers they may be fucked already.
Probably not, but all that firepower being tactically positioned with defences and chokepoints and fire and bombs and so on, they probably could've had a decent shot.
Yeah, they could have chosen the battlefield instead of stumbling into it.
But the horde apepared out of a hole Gears of War style. They could simply appear anywhere behind the chokepoints and machineguns.
Could they though? I thought the truck blowing up is what caused the initial hole in the ground they crawled out of. Can they break through concrete and asphalt?
They showed one hole almost caving in a basement.
There could be more of those pretty much anywhere in the city.
Seems like FEDRA just pushed them into the sewers but the horde was just waiting for 15 years.
and she just ignores it to keep hunting down Henry
That's the point, she's so obsessed about vengeance that she ignores the problem and gets literally everyone in the city killed.
But they already had a hole in the city that they could've prepped in front of. Detonate something to trigger that sinkhole to cave in and invite all the clickers to the loudest thing they've heard in years. Except you get to the decide when it happens and where it happens and with whom it happens etc.
As I said, realistic villains. Not "kids die every single day" levels of cartoon villain that she was.
I think that cartoon villain shit was just a bad adaptation from hack writers. In the game, the raiders killed any children preemptively in the city, because they were a liability, in their minds. Thats why henry and sam ran away.
>Not "kids die every single day" levels of cartoon villain that she was.
That line was actually really good foreshadowing of:
>Ellie "being worth everything, the whole world" or something along the lines
Be nice to the feminized numales. They feel deep shame in the presence of an alpha female
She directed all of her attention to revenge and got herself and her followers killed within two days.
And? The alpha males also get people killed
It was twelve, which is still pretty shitty considering the previous government kept people alive for twenty years. And what alpha males in the show get people killed in such large numbers all at once?
They're not alphas if they follow a woman anyway
>resistance leader brother is captured and tells sister to forgive the person who ratted him out
>brother dies in jail and sister becomes leader by proxy/nepotism
>brothers death is the catalyst for all hell to break loose
>Sister is leader for less than a few weeks before getting everyone killed by a horde of mushroom zombies
So why is everyone upset over this actress being casted? Aren’t the complaints is that she doesn’t look like the kind of person that would lead a resistance movement?
I’m not sure what’s to complain about when she literally gets all of her militia people killed because of her ineptitude anyway. I swear people are so quick to fucking complain about shit and not just see the story through.
you're not wrong
she's a post-apocalyptic Karen
no one likes or identifies with her
Do these people even exist? I mean how many female, middle-aged preppers even exists, especially ones who watch HBO movies based on PS3 games and have gay sex.
welcome to television. Who do you think watches this garbage? fat millenial women. People need to stop getting so butthurt at media that is literally not made for them.
>white woman entitlement in the fucking post apocalypse
I FUCKING HATE HER SO MUCH REEEEEE
Her doing an unprompted villain monologue TWICE was really fucking weird
I dunno but she was a charisma vacuum
absolutely no presence or authority behind her at all
zero intimidation factor
It's like they didn't even give her a proper costume, everyone else had appropriate attire, it's like they found her at Walmart
Whatever she's dead now, bye bitch
How many episodes will there be? I'm not watching until it's all aired.
without looking it up, ten
Close, it's 9.
The actor playing Perry (long-bearded henchman) said his character had huge implications for stuff that happened in the game. How exactly?
What happened to him?
He got bloater'd
Probably make him the rat king
can you link that? cause he is a show oc and the guys in the game are all generic rapists and bandits
He's referring to that organisation
might not be the exact type of retarded
was referring to, but it is still retarded. In no way does the band of idiots in the show resemble or connect to the marauders in the game (which comprised all men)
He's the voice actor and motion capture for Tommy in the game, but I'm pretty sure the only real connection from his TV character to the game is that he gets a death animation taken directly from the game.
Why did they overthrow Fedra? It kept them alive for 20 years and they got themselves killed in under 2 weeks.
Let's be honest, life under Fedra looks actually good in perspective. Food, energy, the infirm protected. Like I cannot put enough emphasis on this, there are dudes without arms AND it's implied the radio operator's son is retarded - that's a MUCH nicer post-apocalyptic setting than most of us can imagine because it implies that human life is still valued and the executions demonstrate that even further. When they get to Tommy's community it will be essentially identical.
Because you have to ask yourself right now what is so wrong about what we've seen in the QZ? And I can't actually list anything egregious to contrast with whatever paradise anybody could imagine for the Fireflies. Like, just imagine a five minute dialog with a Firefly about what is wrong with FEDRA - it would be the stupidest piece of writing ever because it would be telling the audience shit that they didn't bother to show. Like you can't use the "we have DVDs" line from the game like THAT is why FEDRA is ultra evil.
I don't want to be some kind of pro-FEDRA shill here but there's another hint at how FEDRA is keeping shit together and that's Ellie's behavior. She's a teenager Joel hasn't seen in a while - he calls her weird but that's because I'm sure most of the kids he's seen are just street kid shitters. It's clear she is educated and despite what she says about how bad school is (how does she know better?), which demonstrates that FEDRA is attempting to keep learning as a part of society, something even Marlene understands as she put Ellie there. And again, they might show us a nice happy classroom later in a Firefly settlement, but we have no FEDRA classroom to contrast that with. But I think Ellie, despite being a shitter (as I'm sure all kids are regardless of education), in how she shocks Joel is proof that FEDRA hasn't discarded everything the Fireflies likely accuse them of.
It's hilarious that FEDRA are supposed to be the bad guys
They single handedly kicked out the useless bureaucrats who weren't doing anything to stop the outbreak, set up stable and safe quarantine zones that lasted for 20+ years, and in every case where they lost a settlement to terrorists or bandits, that area later devolved into anarchy or was overrun by infected.
It's hilarious that the facist glowies are not only the undisputed good guys but that most of the fanbase probably just goes along with "FEDRA bad" because that's the in-game narrative.
Agreed. I don't get why people don't see this. It's not like they're making up lies or using isolated incidents to seize power for power's sake. If a single person goes outside, gets infected, and comes back in, the entire settlement could die. They are forced to use extreme violence because the entire world is extremely violent and dangerous, just outside the walls. How are they at all wrong for using such force? You could argue that the people should have some representation, but to what end? Voting on what? Grow food, recover a stable population, and then slowly purge the surrounding areas of infected. That's literally all you can do.
>I don't get why people don't see this.
It's because people presume a lot of norms of our lives are still operating, they don't understand that humanity is in a permanent state of refugee camp - which is essentially sitting around until the people in charge figure out how to reclaim the land. And while that sounds fucking awful, it's a fucking miracle when you take into account how badly people would adjust to it.
People don't seem to understand that the sheer fact that such a huge number of people being fed, including cripples, implies that there is social welfare with a massive unseen agriculture infrastructure in a fucking urban centre, which I imagine is a level of success that I can only imagine took a solid decade to carve out. Add on top of that gasoline infrastructure and a functioning power grid - it's a fucking lot.
Just about everything necessary to survive for people is like magic to them. They don't understand how many human beings or how much science goes them being able to just walk to the fridge and get an ice cream. FEDRA achieved a fucking miracle in the QZ and only audience members who've never known a day of hardship in their lives wouldn't understand it.
It's been a while but i don't even recall them being shown as that bad in the game. Sure they're heavy handed but they have the biggest working sactuaries and the fireflies and raiders are far worse. Joel is a smuggler who doesn't care about the state of the world and willingly puts the district at risk breaking in and out, so he's not positioned as some hero against the authority.
I guess the only counterpoint is we do get his brother's settlement as some more benevolent community to compare to.
Your introduction to them is execution in the street and reduced rations, then a slum that was forced to operate to get around this.
I think that's as far as the game wanted to go with it.
They weren't explicitly bad in the game (or the show) they just took heavy handed responses to discipline when people stepped out of line.
And let's be real here, when the fucking Fireflies have been terroristing it up for nearly two decades you unfortunately cannot give the general population any leniency in dealing with them. When crazed motherfuckers are prioritizing "democracy" and killing members of the authorities who are actively keeping back the plague they clearly have a fucking warped idea of what democracy is. Like someone said earlier you can't just let some asshole who is willing to leave the zone out of their own selfishness putting the entire community at risk - you have to kill those people because like Tess said, "your luck will run out" and all it takes is for one fucking idiot wandering around for 24-hours spitting in the street and you have a problem. I doubt it's going to be elaborated upon but it would be interesting to hear more about what the Fireflies want because I bet aside from the doctor project they're going to sound like a bunch of fucking fanatical idiots whose values are in direct opposition to the stability necessary for humanity's long-term survival.
It's obvious that working is optional; because cripples are allowed to just chill, which means that food is guaranteed whether you choose to work or not. Joel works because it's extra.
I might be wrong here but I thought Tommy had left the Fireflies by the time we met him in his settlement citing they were too batshit crazy. I feel like there are likely going to be very few differences between Tommy's community and the QZ.
I feel like we're going to see a CHAZ tier thriving diverse Firefly settlement to show they are the objective #resistance good guys instead of representing the game's vision of them being misguided libertarians who do nothing to destroy functioning quarantine zones and get many people killed.
>I feel like we're going to see a CHAZ tier thriving diverse Firefly settlement to show they are the objective #resistance good guys
That'll be the hospital in the last episode. It'll be pristine, fully functional, top of the line surgeons and gear, the full nine.
It was more hamfisted "MAKE THE BIG DECISION JOEL" writing. We had it with Tess, we had it with Bill and now we've had it with Karen and Henry. So much of that stuff was shown in the game, rather than told. Joel sees Bill and decides he doesnt want to be that. He sees Henry and becomes ultra protective. Rather than the dumb "Joel! You and Ellie really are The Last of Us: Part I" tier writing the show has done to progress Joel's arc.
>We had it with Tess, we had it with Bill and now we've had it with Karen and Henry. So much of that stuff was shown in the game, rather than told
This is TV. Normies need everything to be spelled out and repeated. No more subletly left.
It's specified that the Kansas City FEDRA were just outright evil for some reason. Even Joel remarks on them being known as far as Boston as being torturers and rapists and murderers.
I think its supossed to be ambiguous. Yes, they are presented as the bad guys but then again they're going for this 'people do bad things in bad situations' narrative for literally everyone.
FIDF spotted, evacuate thread
The problem with the show is that it's written by people who deep down think shit like this.
That FEDRA are better than the alternative.
The alternative got themselves killed. Where you not reading?
Yeah, that's what I mean. It was written that way.
you trying to say the kansas city people were anti-vax trumpists?
No I'm saying that the show decides to present things in a certain way. We see the terror of the revolution but only hear about the oppression that led to it. The only collaborator we meet has a sympathetic backstory while the leader of the revolution is made to say "My brother wanted to forgive Henry but I'm going to kill him anyway because I'm a bitch" it reminds me of what Mark Twain wrote. about the French Revolution.
>“THERE were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.”
>meanwhile, the alternative
fuck that noise, commie
Karen was a pretty shit character but I thought it was overall a fairly strong episode
Probably the best yet, and no homoshit either
Action was betterish too because at least there was some, but has this problem where the actors don't react to things they should react to, presumably because it's CGI and so there's nothing to react to
Like during action scenes it's like they're walking through events not really concerned about anything because they know a thing will happen to protect them from X threat, then the CGI guy adds that lmao
The episode was great, but holoy shit ungreatfull little niglet made me mad.
>I AM HUNGRY, LETS EAT THIS LAST CAN WITHOUT WHITE MAN!
like FUCK OFF!
Just finished episode.
Fucking niglet didnt tell anyone he was infected. What a fucking shitter
in the game it was shown he was selfish, but in the show they softened it. Still comes across as an asshole
He quite literally did. There was like 5 minutes of screentime of him telling someone he was infected.
Ellie is a child so she doesnt count.
ah right, i forgot because it was so dumb, ellie thinks she can rub on him with her blood like shes the fountain of youth and doesnt think anything of it until morning where she should already be mauled to death
*i forgot because i was so dumb
it doesnt make sense ellie went to sleep without acting on the liability they have in the room
She doesn't know yet what happens. She hasn't had her flashback episode to teach her her prior experience with Riley yet 🙂
The politics of this episode were pretty glib, essentially "Yes FEDRA were fascists, but the people replacing them are even worse and at least FEDRA made the trains run on time (kept out infected) also trying to kill a collaborator who sold out people to be killed makes you just as bad as FEDRA who weren't actually that bad in comparison to the stuff we showed the revolutionaries doing. Both sides suck, I'm a libertarian btw."
>who weren't actually that bad in comparison
Multiple characters, including Joel, make a point of saying that the FEDRA in KC were fucking evil and everything they got from the rebels was stuff they inflicted upon innocents for years.
She said she'd stay awake with him but she was tired and fell asleep. Are you really shocked that a dumb child who thinks she's a miracle cure let her guard down and dozed off? Have you ever met children before?
*dumb child who kills people and sneaks around like a ninja
might be capable of not fucking up so monumentally maybe, I don't know
>sneaks around like a ninja
Her "sneaking" is so bad that Joel had to shoot like 15 different infected just for her to make it across the street.
I fully agree that a big issue with the series so far has been telling instead of showing but I can manage to accept it when they have an independent third party also tell that they've heard the same stuff, because that makes it clear that they're actually renowned for their evil. It's enough for me, even though it could've been more.
>Multiple characters, including Joel, make a point of saying that the FEDRA in KC were fucking evil and everything they got from the rebels was stuff they inflicted upon innocents for years.
Yes but they only ever show the revolutionaries actually doing fucked up shit, and when they show the captured collaborators they're all just quivering with fear and get executed, you don't see any of the fucked up shit that they did, I guess we're meant to assume they all had good reasons like Henry did.
that doctor certainly had good intentions, all he ever did was hide henry and sam, wasnt shown as a collaborator, Karen just assumed he was cause he was hiding them
If you're hiding a rat, you're a rat.
Dead as doornails.
hiding a child, deaf no less, out of empathy? Doesn't sound like a rat. Just saying, the karen is the villain
He didn't hide the child. He hid the child AND the rat. Henry is the realistic villain, Karen was the cartoon villain.
It is what it is, they were brothers, whos gonna feed the child and watch him while he does his doctor work? Tough shit
>dumb woman gets people around her killed over a need for vengeance
>entire tlou2 game plot
poetry, rhymes, etc.
That's what's been annoying me about a lot of the episode. The Bill episode is just TLOU Part I condensed into 50 minutes of homosex. And then this is just TLOU Part II condensed into 50 minutes of Karen. Why tell your own story in a shorter form inside the story you're already telling?
It is literally just that two sides to every coin story again, huh?
I always cringe when people call powerful groups fascists in the post apoc
That kind of language comes from a privileged left wing worldview that would fade immediately, nevermind 20 years after a disaster like this
It's like showing someone scolding a raider for not introducing himself with pronouns, it's just fundamentally silly
Never played TLOU. Should I play the remaster or the original?
literally just watched the show, I watched a Let's Play of TLOU and it's literally just the show except you have to occasionally grab ladders and move them around
Story is shit, the game is fun even with the padding.
The actual gameplay is the best thing in the series. The stories are shit
maybe the gameplay starts after 3 hours because that's how much I watched before getting bored
All I saw was holding the joystick forward, walking as people talk, and occasionally moving a ladder or plank around so you could get over an obstacle. I played Half-Life 2 and solved physics based puzzles 15 years ago, this is not new to me
>All I saw was holding the joystick forward, walking as people talk, and occasionally moving a ladder or plank around so you could get over an obstacle
Sadly that most of the game.
But the actual gamelpay parts of shooting/stealth are good, if far between.
>made a conclusion about the show and games story based on 3 hours
Don't post here again
>noooo you need to gargle shit for 4 hours to realize it's bad, if you only gargle it for 3 hours, you don't know how good the last hour can be
Yep, he's seething.
Based on the amount of (you)s im getting I'm going to say that I am in fact the causer of seethe and this is cope
you are viewing things in black and white where there are more colours
>i was pretending to be retarded for yous!
I get tons for being right.
Play the game and play at a good pace where you dont get stuck doing puzzles, there is plenty of action, not the best game ever, but good.
The non-walking gameplay portions are actually great. That's why the best part of TLOU was the multiplayer
i would say play the ps4 remastered (which is identical to ps3 with better graphics) then if you want, the remake, ideally. The recent remake is coming to pc soon
There is a remaster, a remake and an original.
Remaster if you only have PS4, remake if you have PS5 (it's meant to be on PC soon if not already).
There's a remaster and a remake.
Both are pretty much the same, game is already almost a movie. Worth one playthrough, but don't expect a masterpiece.
She's an annoying cunt in every role I've seen her in.
making sam deaf was the stupidest decision
I thought it was fine. Didn't detract at all from things. Even added a bit at the end when he didnt kill Ellie because he couldn't hear that she was in the room with him
