A range advantage means you can shoot from beyond any secure perimeter and be packing up and leaving before the body has hit the ground. Cities are ideal for this because shots could come from anywhere, any window or rooftop for miles around.

These days it honestly wouldn't be hard for any serious professional sniper to rig up full remote control. Scope+camera (or hell one of those smart scopes that does it already), basic motorized turret and trigger, any old cellular data, hell can probably just leech WiFi 99% of the time in a city. Set it up with a VPN and run it from the other side of the city, abandon it, just part of the job bill. There's lots of generic cheap guns plenty accurate enough that wouldn't point any fingers because millions of people have them.

300blk are nice but bolt-action .308 is more versatile, being identical to 300blk sub-sonic and having more power supersonic. ... and you don't have to stock an additional cartage ...

DC sniper. However, assassinations of any kind are exceedingly rare. Nation-states generally don't do them for threat of massive political fallout and to not open up their own people for assassination, and there's a very big lack of people who are thr combination of smart, motivated and suicidal to do them
