Germany sent like 4 or 5 of them and France sent 1 last year, do we have any feedback on how these kind of air defense fared ? Did they use it to protect cities or on the front line ?

Just gonna post it before shills start to spam that image
>France
>sending anything at relevant scale
To be honest France hasn't started to equip their fleet with it yet, so it was probably sent there as a test
>as a test
Lol, the West couldn't be more fricked up.
>France develops new mil-tech
>doesn't know if it'll work properly or at all
>send it to the east where it is deemed as a shithole country by only the west
>potentially frick people over
>profit
Macron has found a way to cheat the system - just send jack shit, but make massive announcements out of every little bit.
That way you can still not touch your dead land military industry, you can keep the moral high ground over someone like Germany who actually have stepped up.
Only thing we do know is that Germany is sending more Skynex. So either the Ukies are desperate or it's doing decently well. Seeing how Gepards a can keep the sky clean, I am believing the latter is the case
>So either the Ukies are desperate or it's doing decently well
We don't hear so much about moped drones blowing up hospitals any more so I think they're probably doing good at keeping skies clear around population centres.
>RapidFire
It's kinda weird they've slapped together a C-RAM version of it. It's more of a multi-purpose turret for light vessels, rather than a dedicated AA installation like the 30/35 mm turrets. Has pretty low RoF, IIRC.
thanks for clarifying. I was thinking "damn, isn't that a ship turret"
Yep, at one of the militec expos they even showed one with a small onboard AESA radar and Martlet missiles. It's a pretty decent idea as an all-in-one small vessel turret.
They're all based on the older Millennium Gun System. However, the latest version uses 30 mm rounds, instead of the older 35 mm ones used by the Gepard. Has shorter range (3 km max vs 4 km max for the 35 mm), but the turret is lighter and more compact, meaning it can be mounted on more vehicles, and has room for extra equipment (ex. jammers, MANPADS).
They're probably on standby near population centers which is precisely what they're designed to do. Protect from threats rather than denying airspace at the frontline which is covered by different systems. I also firmly assume that they are not allowed to share videos or information on the systems.
How do you debunk completely delusional claims anyway? Tards will believe what they want no matter what arguments you provide.
Skynex is basically like a Gepard, right? It uses the same ammo if I remember.
No. Gepard used a special version of the 35mm, which is why sourcing it was problematic.
Note the difference
>the black one is a little bigger.
the picture alone doesn't tell us much.
other than, yeah, they're not the same round.
The main difference is the rim for the belt.
Technically, the unbelted one isn't Gepard ammo. That one is for Millennium Gun System-derived revolver cannon, which use linkless feed. AHEAD rounds for the Gepard would require the belt notch.
I think he posted that to show the problem
mentioned.
thats why the initial Norwegian ammo batches were useless, because they lacked that notch
Yes, the early batches were linkless revolver cannon ammo. I think they had to bodge together a crimping tool to put a belt notch into the cartridge casings.
afaik Gepard doesn't use airburst ammo, while Skynex does
Technically, AHEAD can be added as an upgrade package for Gepard units. However most of them don't have it, as I understand.
no units have that upgrade actually, but it can be added.
Nice field trials are always good. After watching that latest trench clearing video Anti Drone guns need to be pushed as close to the line as possible.
without shells useless
