Shoulda blood meridian adaptation have a different setting than the book, like they did with Heart of darkness/Apocalypse now

Hillcoat will make it work, trust the plan.
Unironically. It's a perfect fit for the guy who made The Proposition.
Jesse Eisenberg as The Kid
Jesse is the sperg autistic version of Cera, no just no. He already killed the Lex Luthor role
Yeah, they should set it in the modern political climate so they can make a statement about how conservatives are fascists ruining the freedom of the left.
Go read some high schoolers or recent grads talk about Blood Meridian. literally 100% of them think it's commentary on how colonization of the west is bad
What i took away was
>Mexicans are lazy cucks
>Indians are just as evil
>Spitting is fun
fucking helll. the whole idea of the book is that evil is banal and has always been there and always will be.
and in the book, as in life, we've had whites that were just as terrible as indians
Yeah man, I’m not gonna waste my time with that.
Bloated ass book full of filler, and when the violence kicks off, its over in 2 sentences. Meme book overhyped by hipsters to shit, the movie should trim it to 2.30 hours with method acting for 6 months
Tldr it is filmable, just trim the shit boring parts about nothing
>368 pgs

Amirite guys ?
Apocalypse Now was a miracle. No modern director could pull that shit off.
>t. i just watched another 2 hour youtube video essay
wouldnt make sense, there's a lot of traveling in the book, lots of different settings. why are you wasting your time with a thought like this? if they're gonna do the whole story the kid starts in tennesse goes south to new orleans goes west texas/mexico and the old west. if they do just a segment/abstract of the book they could keep the settings unnamed i guess, that's the closest you're gonna want to get to changing the setting, by keeping it vague. i'd rather it be a faithful adaptation with text on screen city/year
It should take place in Detroit, in the hood
Yes, call it Da Blud Meridianz
how would it work? a big part of the story is the surrounding setting, and the bandits/indians themselves
Thats what I said, its mostly filler setting up what the desert/Mexico looks like, cut the fat and you could easily make a 2 hour movie. Of course it'll be brutal as hell but the trannies/garden gnomes will want to turn that down aka American Psycho or Hannibal
No movie will get a good adaptation until hollywood burns to the fucking ground. Everyone is an agenda, a political checklist, and the source material is the last priority. Do you really want the Judge to be Idris Elba, the kid to be a mutt, the indians completely cut for being "racist", etc
why can't you be happy with The Road
they couldnt do a blood meridian movie in 2023. simply because it would show how Hispanics were paying whites to scalp native americans. and destroy the narrative that Hispanics are troo native americans, not like they were two warring factions before white men entered the picture.
Everyone was fucking everyone and still is. Good boy Native Americans owned slaves. None of it matters.
>a different setting than the book
Maybe slightly earlier, during the Comanche-Apache wars and slightly after Mexican independence from Spain and show the administrative difference going from practical with the Spanish to heavy handed with the Mexicans vs. the Apache. Glanton gang could more plausibly slip through or pass off their depredations when both Comanche and Apache are posing a problem and contesting territory + early Texan settlement and conflict to come (about 6 years later than the novel's start).
>The Zulu (1964) meets Apocalypse Now of Central America
It has to be gorgeous, with the landscape itself a character. Then the Judge & Glanton must be cast, and The Kid ... it's not unfilmable, it's just that the expectations set by John Milius and the source material is too high.
>Weather Underground Helter Skelter
Using Red Dawn as the set up for some Maoist shenanigans might actually be compelling if it looks like The Warriors.
Would be kino for the glanton gang to be modern inner city blacks cleansing america of whiteness
>Hack away you mean white moron.
Nah, doesn’t work
I cried at that part
RIP GANG
I wish I had a name as cool as toadvine
What happened that made this book spike in popularity recently anyway?
>cormac died and not a single peep about it on PrepHole
sad!!
Holy shit, it’s fucking true. GODDAMNITTTT.
