But this suggests that a lot of the Bradleys received are not even ODS, i.e. Russia is getting BTFO by literal 1980s relics that are not completely rid of Reformer cruft.

The ride can be rough, they need to be able to have a steady view of the screen AND operate it steadily, even if the vehicle is moving and the guys are bumping around inside.
Pretty sure the M2A2 ODS and M2A3 have the same thermal sight generation as Abrams
M2A2 ODS and M1A2SEPv1 used Gen 2 block 0
M2A3 and M1A2SEPv2 used Gen 2 block 1 (less jitter, higher contrast and overall better output quality)
The Gen 1 thermals for Bradley were redscale, rather then greenscale
Thunder runs don't work well through minefields without air superiority, I'm enjoying the current strategy of applying moderate force in different areas at the same time, and then hitting equipment moved in response. There are some western trained ukrops who come back home soon, but you can't really use western tactics with airforce or proper equipment in quantity.
But anon 1980/90s NATO anti sov defence doctrine for land forces resistance equates to total dominance of the skies and full use of airland battle, don't you see???
It's hard to say. Ukraine probably can't sustain combat at the current tempo, but Robotyne is on the highlands. If they can take it attacking should be easier.
current progress is roughly half a month in, so...
about three months if this really is the pace of the offensive.
quite possible they get to the rail line first elsewhere, and that's a severe blow to Russian logistics since the rail line going through Tokmak is the only rail link Russia has to Crimea that isn't the Kerch bridge

Frick that scenario and frick green troops. Also, frick Battlefront for what they did with drones in that game, the whole air game makes CMBS PvP absolutely obnoxious to play.
All those morons had to do was to give Ukies some drones and give T64s and T84s slightly better ammo. Instead we got a le strong bear fantasy, except the bear is still getting absolutely buttfricked by US Army because of M1A2s and 1-minute artillery call times on elite.
Because you can't play a UA vs RU game with drones - SPAA denies any use of this asset class, and Ukrainians don't have any drones anyway.
So you're left with the shitty US vs RU matchup in which both sides have untouchable drones (Americans don't have SPAAs, so they can't target a Zala, but their MQ-1 is untouchable on Observe), so you get a completely transparent battlefield, except one side gets M1A2s and 1-minute artillery, while the other has T-90s and T-72s and 3-minute artillery that can't hit shit outside TRPs. Oh, and you need a laser designator to use Krasnopol, so Americans actually get plenty of value from deploying a few Stingers.
It's an utter shitshow when compared with Cold War, and most of these problems don't even anything to do with actual capabilities, it's just the engine being bad at simulating air assets and the general lack of forethought on Battlefront's part.

That's because the West was HOPING that Russia would join with the rest of the world and civilize itself after the USSR collapsed. Ukraine is basically going to be the new "civilized" version of Russia and post-war they are going to be seeing massive changes in their country from all the businesses investing into rebuilding the country, not to mention all the reparations they're going to be getting from seized Russian assets. It's going to be a huge change, though will take a long time to implement and will likely take decades to complete. Ukraine at least have tried to improve their country since the fall of the USSR and have made "some" progress in dealing with the corruption, though some people are always going to compare them to Russia.

https://nitter.net/Osinttechnical/status/1669557943170105344#m
Yeah. It has two modes. "low" which is 200-300 rpm and "high" which is 550-800 rpm. Who needs accuracy when you have dakka
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipunov_2A42
It is more so a feature than a bug, the spread really helps pepper large areas with fragmentation or high explosive rounds. On singe fire or burst fire it is fairly accurate according to many users like the fins and czechs. It is not really comaprable to the bradley in that sense.
Then official doctrine is coping with shit design/engineering/industry.

cluster munitions are also shit design by your account

Cluster munitions is fix for low artillery accuracy. If every 155mm lands on target there is no need for clusters. But dispersion of artillery has size of football fields so clusters is attempt to cover all that dispersion.
You don't need and don't want shiyty auto-cannon accuracy. If it is bad you are bad at hitting point target. But if its good you can always induce area dispersion if you need to cover area. Official Bradly (and tanks when fire coax at are area targets) gunnery doctrine is firing Z-pattern at area target (total Ziggers death pattern).
You can cover area with accurate gun. But you cant hit point target with inaccurate gun.
Doctrine is to keep cone of fire small not spray bullets all around >Merely hitting a silhouette at 122 meters from a bipod or tripod position is not a challenge. Keeping all the
rounds from a single burst is
Theres some type of AI or machine learning thing thats been in them since the late 90s that corrects the fire based off the path of the rounds and the thermal image of the target.
Yes Vatniks weve had machine learning since the 90s and its in the bradley’s gun cam
The only widely fielded targeting solution is the point and shoot system that calibrates the gun based on what you point your optic at, this prevents people from trying to range and lead the targets. Only recently automated targeting has gone in to testing.

Automated target tracking has been a thing for aircraft for ages (AGM-65 maverick with contrast tracking in the 70s) Only much more recently has automated target tracking been a thing for ground vehicles, but it's still been a few decades. IIRC the first tank with target tracking was the Japanese Type 90, but it became more proliferate in the 2010s with Leclerc SXXI, and the SOSNA-U mounted on T-90M/T-72B3/T-80BVM
The 30mm cannon goes full 'wobbly sausage' in full auto mode, not helped by the powerful muzzle brake.
Here is a Ka-52, with the same gun, that accidentally shot it's self because of the high dispersion.
What gets me about this is that the Egyptians managed to fix this problem in a week (they added a brace).
Ukraine also added a brace to the cannon in their BTR-4, so it's not even a new idea.
Thank you for this. I've been shitposting about plywood radar dome nonstop after seeing this image in the first 2ish months of the war, but never actually saved this image.
Gen 1 thermal isnt an issue in the desert for obvious reasons anon.
Nah the A2 ODS has Gen 1 A3 Gen 2 >The M-A3s are the most modern variants external link of the Bradley, with fully digitized computing, navigation, and communications equipment. On-board subsystem monitoring, diagnostics/ prognostics, and segregated electrical power are included in this upgrade, as are improved NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) protection and the addition of a 7th troop seat in the M2A3 variant. The A3 then adds enhanced sensors including IBAS 2nd generation FLIR (thermal imaging) with significantly greater range. Armor Magazine’s March 2005 issue relates this story from Iraq >M-A2-ODS vehicles external link lack the full electronics, sensor set, and future upgradeability of the M-A3s; instead, they have their own set of off-the-shelf improvements over the base M-A2s that duplicate many of the A3 variants’ essential capabilities, without the cost of a full A3 upgrade.
Im a moron i just realised Ukraine got the Situational Awareness (ODS-SA) Bradleys, they have the gen 2 IBAS. So OPs video is indeed Gen 2 i take back what i said. Appologies.
So this... is the power of HATO thermals...
At least with Ka-52 you can see they are shooting at a white/black dot, this is just a green mess with really bad contrast
we gave them cold war era stocks. it's better than what they had and saves us money on maintaining something that was never realistically going to be used. >b-but russia's most modern attack helicopters use IR that might possibly be slightly less shitty than your ancient IFVs
you are indirectly proving why this is sufficient for the theater lol
It's a real shame that the first time they can use these advanced night optics is right before the summer solstice. Imagine 12h assaults where the enemy literally can't see you.
Sit in an Bradley as an engineer, park at an ammo supply point, constantly repair and reload as you fire across El Alamein muttering "get sum, get sum".
APOLOGIZE
Cant see shit? Is that gen 1 thermal?
The optics here are much worse than the French thermals in the few Russian tanks with them.
This, does anyone know what gen thermal this is?
This is a shitty recording at a bad angle by an amateur.
The contrast would be much better for the actual gunner.
But this suggests that a lot of the Bradleys received are not even ODS, i.e. Russia is getting BTFO by literal 1980s relics that are not completely rid of Reformer cruft.
the "screen" they are filming is meant for you to put your eye against.

ever tried looking at your phone in anything other than dim lighting or shadow? that's why
It’s obviously a night sight and not thermal
Your obviously a tourist too now frick off
The M2A2-ODS only has Gen 1 Thermal for the gunner. The statement about some T80BVM/T90 having a better sight is correct the Catherine FC is a Gen 2.
Pretty sure the M2A2 ODS and M2A3 have the same thermal sight generation as Abrams
M2A2 ODS and M1A2SEPv1 used Gen 2 block 0

This is precisely what I thought and what confused me about all this
Thats an M2A3, they werent sent to Ukraine only the M2A2-ODS.
The M2A3 has a 2nd Gen thermal sight.
its filmed at an angle, which doesnt show the true capability. Its still shitty night vision tho

Its telling that in the Russian mind, NATO equipment = GW2 Thunder Run.
>ha! You arent doing thunder runs! Offensive is failing!
This is unironically what /k/ was predicting though lol
Thunder runs don't work well through minefields without air superiority, I'm enjoying the current strategy of applying moderate force in different areas at the same time, and then hitting equipment moved in response. Thousands of dead ziggers are a meaningful gain for humanity.
There are people who have waited 40 years for this footage, nice
amen brother
can't see shit but at least something exploded at the end.
Jesus those rounds are going all over the place.
I'm hoping that's because of the stabilizer and not because of the barrel.
hot barrel perhaps, reminder that those shots are likely around 2-3km away, zoom doesnt do it justice.
I think it's got to be because the Bradley is moving and turning the turret.
Im not so sure, wierd for the stabilization on the camera to be misaligned than the gun itself, then again anything can happen and im no expert.
I wonder why did they get, it seems like a tank but I am not sure.

It is not really comaprable to the bradley in that sense.
>low acuracy is a feature
is this cope? This is cope.
>make requirements for ifv
>pass requirements for ifv
>export shit ton of ifv's
No im sure its all cope, enjoy your stay while reddit is down
So... They made shit requirements and they're happy about it?
customers are, thats a pretty good metric

Think what you will. Cone of fire is part of official doctrine
But you cant hit point target with inaccurate gun.
that isn't not really relevant to the wobble in that 30mm cannon though, the inaccuracy is far too great to be useful past *very* close targets,
Doctrine is to keep cone of fire small not spray bullets all around
>Merely hitting a silhouette at 122 meters from a bipod or tripod position is not a challenge. Keeping all the
rounds from a single burst is
doctrine is the last refuge of the unimaginative
Theres some type of AI or machine learning thing thats been in them since the late 90s that corrects the fire based off the path of the rounds and the thermal image of the target.
Yes Vatniks weve had machine learning since the 90s and its in the bradley’s gun cam
lol
>It is more so a feature than a bug
The 30mm cannon goes full 'wobbly sausage' in full auto mode, not helped by the powerful muzzle brake.
Here is a Ka-52, with the same gun, that accidentally shot it's self because of the high dispersion.
What gets me about this is that the Egyptians managed to fix this problem in a week (they added a brace).
Ukraine also added a brace to the cannon in their BTR-4, so it's not even a new idea.
>one joke
>radar dome is plywood, like burger houses
Thank you for this. I've been shitposting about plywood radar dome nonstop after seeing this image in the first 2ish months of the war, but never actually saved this image.
that's clearly some form of glass fibre
shitty plywood
yeah, chopped strand mat
nowadays most people see cloth/weave being used so chopped strand is easily confused for wood
is it me or does the cannon seem to really bloom out in accuracy on rapid fire?
Yeah they are only supposed to fire in 3 round bursts
should have forced it by having the Bradley use 3 round clips.
Can’t wait for the TOW videos
>born just in time to see Bradleys and Abrams engage actual Russian troops
They blew something the frick up, but what was it? A BMP? A truck?
Do you Globo-gays know that we Bonglanders once had a currency type called 'Shillings'?
OI THAT'LL BE 3 SHILLINGS AND 2 PENCE
Anon have you ever heard of the term Etymology
You're speaking English moron and words have history.
Do the pre-ODS Brads have the red FLIR?
>that muffled noise of the engine and the THUMP THUMP THUMP
>that massive explosion
damn that's pretty hot, it's just like one of my vidyagames.
>*thump thump thump thump*
>*BOOM*
>CYKA
They really should just do night offensives exclusively.
I thought gen 1 FLIR would look far worse than that.
No wonder the Iraqis got toasted in the first gulf war.
Gen 1 thermal isnt an issue in the desert for obvious reasons anon.
Nah the A2 ODS has Gen 1 A3 Gen 2
>The M-A3s are the most modern variants external link of the Bradley, with fully digitized computing, navigation, and communications equipment. Armor Magazine’s March 2005 issue relates this story from Iraq
>M-A2-ODS vehicles external link lack the full electronics, sensor set, and future upgradeability of the M-A3s; instead, they have their own set of off-the-shelf improvements over the base M-A2s that duplicate many of the A3 variants’ essential capabilities, without the cost of a full A3 upgrade.
Im a moron i just realised Ukraine got the Situational Awareness (ODS-SA) Bradleys, they have the gen 2 IBAS. So OPs video is indeed Gen 2 i take back what i said. Appologies.
M2A2 ODS SA have a 2nd gen thermal. It's basically a M2A3 without the independent commander sight
So this... is the power of HATO thermals...
At least with Ka-52 you can see they are shooting at a white/black dot, this is just a green mess with really bad contrast
we gave them cold war era stocks. it's better than what they had and saves us money on maintaining something that was never realistically going to be used.
>b-but russia's most modern attack helicopters use IR that might possibly be slightly less shitty than your ancient IFVs
you are indirectly proving why this is sufficient for the theater lol
>we gave them cold war era stocks.
You are fricking moronic
M2A2 ODS SA is definitely not a Cold War Bradley, they were produced from 2003
okay so they're incredibly modern by russian standards, still ancient by HATO standards
It's a real shame that the first time they can use these advanced night optics is right before the summer solstice. Imagine 12h assaults where the enemy literally can't see you.
WEBM.
I wonder what the kill was at the end
Some type of vehicle
It appears to be firing on the move while going over dirt mounds
>Optics don't ma-ACK
Imagine the shitstorm if a pointless video like this was posted by Russia fans
butthurt
Reminds me of playing BF 1942 Desert Combat mod.
Sit in an Bradley as an engineer, park at an ammo supply point, constantly repair and reload as you fire across El Alamein muttering "get sum, get sum".
holy based, I don't even remember the last time I thought about this mod.
Kino is officially in season.
This video is extremely impressive. This is the best western IFV guncam that exists.
Man you guys are dumb, you're attacking where it's most defended.
The shitty white-green view looks like something from the US Iraq invasion very old stuff
works on my machine
>No FTL available
Fricking hell Abrams can go faster than the speed of light
Who's gonna tell him what ODS stands for?
jesus that's a bad fricking optics, couldn't they give them something better?
There isn’t anything better in large numbers.
mavics with thermals seem to have a better resolution
They should because they are 30 years newer but the Mavics aren’t IFVs so they aren’t really comparable
You are making this judgement basing on screencap of a photo from twitter?
Dumbass nonods people commenting on this thread.....
Crew says it far better IRL then filming it on video.
>gen 1 optics
How does this compare to bmp optics.
gen 1 was red flir
we stopped using it because RED = EVIL
>video of bradley shooting at nothing is the best the pro-uk crowd has gotten this week
Congrats on this, seriously
This is where it really shined in Iraq as well. The US owns the night. As long as the coffee keeps flowing

New footage of the Bradley shooting 2 TOWs
https://twitter.com/GloOouD/status/1670766461248307202
Based
They blew something the frick up, but what was it?
Apparently the target was tanks: https://youtu.be/fN7YgaSoeQg
It's Bradley's turn to do what it was meant to do. Best timeline.
Ngl it hits me hardto see them fulfill their destiny at their old age.
the scanning is lazy
