>she weights one-hundred-and-fifty kilograms and fires two hundred dollar custom tooled cartridges for ten thousand rounds per minute. It costs four hundred thousand dollars to fire this weapon...for twelve seconds.
>she weights one-hundred-and-fifty kilograms and fires two hundred dollar custom tooled cartridges for ten thousand rounds per minute. It costs four hundred thousand dollars to fire this weapon...for twelve seconds.
its a very funny scene but it's too bad it's all nogunz babble
>no such thing as man-portable 10000 rpm minigun
>no 308 loadings cost $200 per shot, 50 cal is pretty iffy
but again, funny
what makes you think its 308? Those cartridges on his bandoleer look massive and he's a big dude.
It doesn't have to be man portable for the heavy to port it.
so what you think it's firing? 20mm? Because 20mm miniguns are a lot heavier than that and fire a lot more slowly.
This man is carrying around a minigun that weights like a dirt bike and you call out the ammo price for being unrealistic?
They're custom cartridges. It's not a standard caliber.
>custom tooled cartridges
They're expensive because Sasha only eats food specifically made for her.
Nogunz detected. 20mm gatling cannons fire just as fast (mostly faster) than 7.62mm miniguns (M134 - 2000-6000rpm, M61 - 6000-6600 RPM). The M61 also weighs only 100kg, 50kg less than whatever the Heavy's gun is mean go be.
GAU-19 is 48-65kg and fires 50BMG at 1000-2000RPM. The XM214 5.56mm minigun from the 1970s only weighed 10kg dry, 40kg with full accessories, a tripod, and 1000 rounds of ammo.
The biggest problem is the opposite of what you say: the Heavy only really fires at 2400RPM (too slow for most big gatling cannons).
Now frick off or lurk moar.
>calls me nogunz
>thinks the difference btween 6k rpm and 10k rpm is nothing
You absolute moron, the weight of an M61 is only the weight of the gun itself. This doesn't include the batteries required to spin the barrels or the massive ammo drum. This is 1960s technology so any batteries would be lead acid batteries or POSSIBLY some NiMH batteries, which were cutting edge stuff back then. Both of these battery types are far heavier and bulkier than modern lithium cells. With these weight considerations in mind, it's quite possible to get a 150 kg gun firing a 12.7-14.5mm cartridge.
The Russian version was gas-actuated, which allowed it to be substantially lighter.
In game you are able to rev and fire the gun separately, indicating that it's electrically driven.
>the Heavy only really fires at 2400RPM
with or without accounting for the four pellets fired per ammo expended?
Based luckposter. The four pellets are why the ammo is so expensive. Each round has to be custom machined to correctly separate into 4 flechettes with correct dispersion characteristics. Heavy is an ESL, so when he said 10,000rpm he meant 2400 projectiles per second, since he doesn't understand the language difference between a complete round and a projectile, let alone flechettes and sabots.
>tries for a comeback
>can't even read well enough to see that Heavy only fires at 2400rpm
They clearly have advanced battery technology from outside our timeline, since there are robots, sentry guns, DEW etc.
>so when he said 10,000rpm he meant 2400 projectiles per second
*so when he said 10,000rpm he meant 10,000 projectiles per second
It weighs 150 kg. 330lbs. It's not quite GAU-8 weight, but that is a heavy b***h. Hypothetically, with all the wundertech Australium creates, a weapon with 10,000 rpm would be possible. The issue with 10,000 rpm IRL is the damage that it would do to the gun itself put against the actual value of having a gun fire that fast. Toss out some super alloy that can handle the heat and sustained use. It isn't firing .308s either. It's not even firing custom cartridges. It is firing custom *tooled* cartridges. ie the device used to even make the cartridges in the first place was custom made.
I watched a video long ago about an experimental gun that could reach 1M rpm, although it fired at very small bursts. Sustained fire would destroy the gun
>no 308 loadings cost $200 per shot, 50 cal is pretty iffy
If you look at his shells, they're neither .308 nor BMG
>no such thing as man-portable 10000 rpm minigun
He's three times the size of a normal human.
>Taking The Heavy's summary at face value.
>Not realizing that he's very possibly taking the piss.
Dude's got a fricking Doctorate in Russian Literature, a wife, and children.
He's just LARPing as the big, dumb, violent Russian thug, which, given my experience of Doctors in Lit, is actually something most of them could pull off pretty convincingly.
>LARPing as the big, dumb, violent Russian thug, which, given my experience of Doctors in Lit, is actually something most of them could pull off
you can't just say shit like that and not tell the story
the game where people jump using explosives and you're talking about that?
>complains about $200 cartridges
>never touched a Sasha in his life
I bet this poorgay doesn't even rush-import fresh salmon from Hokkaido via jet to feed his Roman Colosseum Heritage Stock Domesticated Cheetah.
For a completely custom one of a kind autocannon cartridge, which his gun absolutely fires, 200 dollars is not that surprising.
You're thinking he has "Custom ammunition" in a pre-existing caliber, but the bullets on his bandoleer don't resemble any real world cartridge. Thus if he's literally firing a one of a kind caliber, the price point makes sense.
Not to mention the bullets themselves could be quite complex inside. They could have DU cores, or some kind of exotic incendiary component. The Raufoss (or however it's spelled) BMG ammunition costs close to 100 dollars a pop, and that's in one of the most over produced calibers in human history. Imagine what the Raufoss equivalent in some impossibly rare meme caliber like 950 would be, where the basic rounds already cost fifty to a hundred dollars to begin with.
The heavy's minigun fires 4 bullets per bullet. I imagine custom made quadplex(?) stacked bullets are pretty expensive.
I don't think what it does in-engine is supposed to be real.
This is TF2 anon.
Most of the lore was from a (fan) comic the Devs just declared was entirely canon.
Assume the engine is correct.
Which tf2 weapon would you own if you could /k/?
Unusual AWPer Hand
Based, still have the keys to buy it Strange, but I dunno if I want to spend 60$ worth of keys on it.
Does the Dispenser count?
>tfw no magic box that instantly creates ammo for any gun I could ever find, in addition to healing wounds near instantly
If not I'd probably go with one of the raygun themed weapons because infinite ammo>not infinite ammo.
Cloak and Dagger
Sandvich. Free food forever, I'll never starve.
Phlog, that or the scorch shit because I'm an absolute shitter and you cannot stop me
Medi-gun. I'd be functionally immortal, and I could give anyone said immortality.
direct hit
>Not choosing the Hot Hand for speedy ass slaps
Blutsauger. Or Blackbox. Something that heals you when you hit an enemy.
Cow Mangler. Because frick everyone in the general direction I just pointed its charged shot.
Rocket Jumper and Market Gardener
For me it's all the ytps this scene has gotten
>I am I (gay) and this is my pe-nis
>she weighs one kilogram and fires two dollar cartridges at ten rounds per dollar
>it costs twelve seconds to frick four hundred thousand dollar PISS in ONE second...
>WHO TOUCHED MY wife
Kek. Link?
Enjoy, shit gets loud

>it ain't a gun if it don't weigh at least one hundred pounds
