Sadly I couldn't find how much 82mm mortar shells Ukraine has in storage but I thought about picrel concept.
Green.. mortar shell
Red.. steel rods
Blue... wings milled from epp foam
Grey... engine + propeller
Mortar and engine just hose clipped to the rods
Battery ecu i didn't detail but can be ziptied anywhere. What you guys say?
Looks good anon. build it, deploy it and report back. Maybe put a GPS on it so you can figure out where it went.
I won't do shit out of my comfy middle European desk job.
I was just wondering why ukros don't do this. They could even do it with camera + AI + loitering.
Would probably just be $1.000 a pop supposing They got millions of 82mm shells.
if Ukraine had one 155mm shell for every online frickwit with a 'super amazing war winning idea' they'd have conquered moscow by now.
ideas are worthless.
execution is all that matters.
The only reason they've gotten as far as they have is precisely because they do fantastical diy shit
that's right. they DO it.
not just make shit renders and post on trinidadian muntfishing boards.
>AI
omg guys he said the buzzword now all problems are solved!
>Maybe put a GPS on it so you can figure out where it went.
the mortar shell knows where it is, because it knows where it isn't.
Too sophisticated. Needs to many tools to produce.
Dumb idea. The reason for using RPG warheads is the dual purpose of the shaped charge and explosives. A mortar can only reliably take out infantry
>killing infantry on the cheap is of no use
Not what I said at all
>on the cheap
have a nice day bong
>A mortar can only reliably take out infantry
But it can kill more infantry
Your idea isn't controllable. It's as funcational as a paper airplane.
What a crude design. I assume you are trying to increase the range of the shell but it's useless if it can't hit anything.
How do you launch it?
How does it know where to go?
How does it control it's flight?
What if we took metal tubes, Closed one end, Stuck a fixed firing pin to the bottom and then we kinda just pointed them at the enemy and dropped the shells in?
>mortar suicide drone
what's wrong with just dropping a mortar shell from a non-suicide drone, like they've been doing
This
>this happened one time so it must happen everywhere in frequency
I swear to god critical thinking died in the late 00s
are you actually trying to suggest that mortar/grenad dropping drones in ukraine were a one off and everybody is just assuming that the use is frequent based off that? Im not sure how to even respond to that other than to question whether this was posted by an AI bot
So called "Baba Yaga" big drone carrying 4-8 82 mm mortar rounds is staple Ukrainian night drone bomber. It's to big to operate during day, can be spotted and shoot down, but during night it's Baba Yaga time.
more precise
no fear of losing a bomber drone
Also more range. With wings you can go 40-80km easy.
no you cant
Akchually yes, yes you can.

I mean, I'm sure it'd work, but I guess it depends on how valuable 82mm mortars are. using stuff like mortars or RPG rockets as warheads really isn't ideal because you end up hauling along a bunch of shit that doesn't contribute to its new mission. the whole ass end isn't going to provide meaningful aerodynamic stability or fragmentation, but will weigh down your aircraft. I guess it really depends on how much an 82mm mortar shell is wanted by the front.
useless without shells
one of the weirdest pepes I've seen.
Where is the battery OP?
- What type of propulsion? The size you indicate is a bit too small to work;
- Wings are also too small for the size/weight of the shell;
- No camera and all that;
Do you know if I can make aerodynamic simulation with a freeware?
Since the thread didn't die i thought just using epp foam flying wing design with a cutout where you put mortar shell and ziptie it would be perfect. Tool costs $ 20k and then you could build 100 a day for like 500 bucks.
I already noticed that this is a pepe in
no need to make it more obvious
I guess that's one way to do it. what would your propulsion look like?
Something like this.
Just out of the box enginer + propeller again ziptied to the epp foam body.
I'm 95% sure it's already being used. You basically want drone to carry 82mm shell as warhead, again, most likely being used already, considerng that there are fpv drones that carry 5 kilo of payload
