The big deal is the angle it's sloped at, at 81 degrees anything from straight on or slightly below won't penetrate. You have to be above it, which is a challenge for the shorter, smaller T72/80/62

Unless you're shooting at a tank from relatively short range and somehow have the drop on the enemy, you're not going to be realistically aiming for weak points, and if you are that close then more than likely where ever you shoot is going to have a pretty good chance of penetrating..

I think it behooves the military to to train its soldiers to take advantage of such opportunities.
I think it comes in handy for planning assaults and deciding where to place weapons. Even if it's a small advantage and an obvious one, it's information that competent soldiers can use to their advantage.
