50% of their budget for training was embezzled by generals. 40% was embezzled by junior officers after that. 10% was then spent on training to crack down on internal uprisings and their neighbors. The time allocated for these programs was used for gay anal rape and pimping of conscripts by officers for personal profit.

It's technically "weak" in the sense that it's not very thick physically. M1A2 SEPv2s in inventory have been ultra-sounded and have a 2 inch thick upper plate. The big deal is the angle it's sloped at, at 81 degrees anything from straight on or slightly below won't penetrate. You have to be above it, which is a challenge for the shorter, smaller T72/80/62

I never fully understood these things for armor.

Unless you're shooting at a tank from relatively short range and somehow have the drop on the enemy, you're not going to be realistically aiming for weak points, and if you are that close then more than likely where ever you shoot is going to have a pretty good chance of penetrating..

      Anonymous

      honestly,
Those charts mean frick all in the vast majority of cases aside from teaching the average midwit (in the case of russians, their most ingenius soldiers) a couple spots they SHOULD aim for if possible, but we all know how russians do. Vasiliy will continue using shaped charges as pseudo anti infantry weapons in an indirect fire role because it makes for good propaganda firing at a distant burm and then ducking back into your trench while screaming "YE BAYT NA KHUI!" or YEEST BLYAD

        Anonymous

I've seen it payoff in a few cases. For example that BTR4 in Mariupol that shot a T-72 weapons near the tracks to penetrate the crew compartment. I'd imagine it's probably most helpful in the case of autocannons more generally. To give you an idea of which is the most advantageous way to walk your fire onto and across the target.

          Anonymous

Well the crew of that Bucephalus was also either lucky or smart or both because they were positioned to where they could engage the tanks from the side, and then the rear when they turned tail and tried to run away. I still watch that video from time to time because watching an IFV kill an MBT with an auto cannon is virtually the closest I will ever get to the same feeling of satisfaction as a threesome with two tanned tomboy girls. Also I think its fair to say that any tank with exposed tracks/no skirt armor is most vulnerable there.

            Anonymous

I think you're underestimating the number of times you come across an unsuspecting or unattended vehicle in combat and you would be well served to make an aimed shot to maximize your chances of knocking out the target. I think it behooves the military to to train its soldiers to take advantage of such opportunities.

      Anonymous

I think it comes in handy for planning assaults and deciding where to place weapons. Even if it's a small advantage and an obvious one, it's information that competent soldiers can use to their advantage.
