Russia has been so effective at demilitarizing Ukraine, that they've even managed to demilitarize Russians in Ukraine.

It's still up in the air whether it was an ammo dump or an ammunition train, but it's a pretty major one burning properly hot for all the secondaries and flying rockets. There's no telling until we get some satellite images or footage from vatniks on the ground.

No they're not. They haven't gained any significant ground in months. The fighting in Bakhmut was the most ground they gained and they paid far too much in blood and equipment for what they ended up gaining. Wagner got decimated in Bakhmut and is now having to leave Ukraine and the Russian army itself got absolutely fricked in the initial months.

Oh, you're a shill, that makes more sense.

I'll spell it out for you in a way that should clear all this up: Russia cannot win in Ukraine no matter what they do. They can teleport 100 T-14's into Kyiv tomorrow, murder Zelensky, and they STILL will not have won. Because my dear Indian or Russian shill, Russia has absolutely fricked itself on the world stage for the next several decades. The cost of losing hundreds of thousands of able-bodied men, including hundreds of thousands more leaving Russia, and losing/using up massive stockpiles of ammunition, irreplaceable Soviet tanks, aircraft, helicopters & general equipment.

The price Russia paid in taking Bakhmut means they are completely incapable of any more major offensives in Ukraine for months, if not the rest of the war. The very fact they're trying to claim that Ukraine is demilitarized now means they're trying to find a way to leave Ukraine and will likely end up conceding most, if not all of their gains.

      This.

Also, it's even worse than it seems - industries relied on western parts, intelligent people have left, there will absolutely be no large foreign investments inside Russia until the current regime is changed etc.

Do you actually think Russia taking Bakhmut means they've won the war? Honestly, congrats to them for finally accomplishing something, even though that accomplishment means nothing with how much they paid for it. Any other military would be smart enough to redirect their efforts elsewhere after taking so many losses, so to see Russia being that willing to waste the men and equipment to take a town that holds little value means that they're incapable of doing much more.

If they had taken it last year when they still held Kharkiv and Lyman? It would matter since the Kramatorsk-Slovyansk line would be under very serious threat from the north and east. But without Kharkiv and Lyman the value is questionable since both cities now enjoy a much more favorable defensive position in addition to all the extra time for Ukraine to solidify their positions within the cities.

      Anonymous

Translation: stupid Vatniks squandered a frickton of manpower for a pile of rubble, and they haven't even secured the northern & southern flanks of Bakhmut.

So it is important only because it is a fork that might lead Russians to advance on Konstantinivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.

                1. CNN opinion pieces are not empirical evidence.
                2. Try and wrap your head around an advanced concept here: The importance of a place can very much dpend on context. Bakhmut was alot more important when it was the possible springboard for a pincer hitting Kramatorsk-Sloviansk from there and the north. Only then the Russians lost the north and lsot their remianing offensive potential together with the 100k+ ziggers that died failing to take Bakhmut. Which makes the town rather less important.

Not that I expect a sub-Black /misc/cel like you to ever gain the mental capabilities to understand half of this, let alone have an actual clue about strategy.

Put another way, Vatniks, Bakhmut has not been worth the ridiculous effort you've put in for a very long time.

On the other hand, Bakhmut was a useful way to bleed Wagner to near-death. We've practically driven its leader to outright mutiny against the Russian MoD. And the city itself is slowly being surrounded.

Ukrainian shills post twitter caps trashing about Russia instead of presenting them in a way that isn't stupid or post 'what's the tactical advantage' but referring to russian mistakes. Russians are the same, but add on top incessant posting of the same event over and over, like the serbs with the F-117 they downed.

Very easy to spot since they are ultra obsessed with trannies and Reddit living rent free in their head.

Ukrainian shills present footage with hopium. Nice edits videos, funny memes, lost of victories and some little losses. Stuff the is not that interesting if you don't have the strategic insight like a random storm shadow strike somewhere that didn't result in a dump going Popcorn or 150 Monica getting lada-ed.

No they aren't. They had all might of triple embezzled 1/21 part of USSR power behind them, and some charity hand me downs from NATO aligned countries. "NATO" doesn't supply Ukraine nor to the scale of requirements neither to capabilities. Maybe by this winter, if F-16s and ATACMS indeed arrive as promised, Ukraine will get ALMOST full spectrum of capabilities, but I'm entirely sure that scale still would be severely lacking.

Russia was defeated the moment they weren't able to thunder run Kyiv and install a puppet. There's literally no outcome in this war where Russia has "won" anything from it. At this point it's just determining what the ending conditions for the war are going to be rather than "beating" russia.

People are saying this was a train apparently.

    >A train
Honestly that might be worse depending on how much the russians hurry to replace it. We saw in Crimea what ordinance and fuel do to tracks, so that rail line is finished for a little while at least.

Russia started the war with a massive advantage in war material, sheer numbers of troops, and the element of surprise along with being able to use Belarusian territory as part of their invasion. And they STILL fricked everything up so badly that four months later they were on the defensive everywhere except for Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.

Get it now? When the war began Ukraine simply lacked the capability to retake well defended territory until about a year later when they began to receive the shit they needed. Now it's almost eighteen months later and Russia and Ukraine are basically on an even footing, with Ukraine now having a slight advantage since they haven't been throwing their troops away in utterly pointless assaults for the last six months like Russia has.

      Anonymous

      >the element of surprise
I mean, wasn't it a big thing about how the US was trying to prevent the invasion by exposing the plans to invade in February, coupled with the fact that russkie civilians couldn't help themselves not to post tiktoks of heavy armor and ammunition being transported towards the Ukrainian border daily, prior to the invasion.
I mean, I agree with everything else said but there was hardly an element of surprise when you telegraph your every movement like a moron playing poker for the very first time.

        Anonymous

Of course all the signs were there, but Ukrainian leadership still chose to believe Putin wasn't really going to do it. Which is why the only Ukrainian troops meeting the kyiv thrust were one brigade of ancient soviet artillery and 45 year old TDF dudes. Most of Ukraine's standing army was in donbabwe when the war started, if they genuinely believed an invasion was imminent they would have moved more troops to the south to protect melitopol and the azov coast and further north to protect kharkiv.

        Anonymous

yes but zelensky did not believe that russia was going to invade so the ukrainian army was not mobilized when the war started, the ones who took the majority of the initial impact were the rapid reaction forces and the TDF

I watched these interview on yt, I think something like "Ukrainian year" where they interview Budanov and Zaluzhny ...etc... And they always ask about the specific day of the invasion. Budanov said something along the lines of
          > On February 2X I set alarm clock for 2 am, cuz 3 am it was all supposed to unfold.
          > Night before, they dispatched units to protect hostomel.

          Found it:

Fascinating interview from both Budanov and Zaluzhny. Only thing that does not add up, is that it seems they were very much ready for the invasion.
          > They moved all AAs under the cover of the night away from spots that were informed to fsb
          Etc.

Are you well? Ukraine lost Bakhmut. They didn’t run, they fought for every meter and Ukraine continually sent in replenishment forces, including a bunch of territorial defense units and an army of drones operators. The current low weight of counter-offensive operations suggests they have little reserves. I don’t know the casualties suffered by Wagner but they were undoubtedly heavy — yet, they took the city and Ukraine was ejected. I don’t know what else to tell you. Memes have 0 effect on reality.
