Munition shortages have always been an issue, even Ukraine suffers from it. Russia just uses ammunition that is older and less reliable. They have a shit ton of ammo stored that the US for example wouldn't use due to how degraded it is. But even those stockpiles are gonna deplete and we are already seeing evidence of it.
I am in fact just slightly butthurt that NATO destroyed about 200,000 rounds of HIMARS ammunition in the 2010s because it had reached the 25 year expiration
Those fricking things are $110,000 each, you're really saying they couldn't have been fired
I think the only reason they destroyed it is because it would be cheaper to produce new ones than to recycle them, but yeah they were too old to be considered reliable enough.
It was mostly M26s that were scrapped due to muh clusters are bad nonsense Obama spewed, many of the motors were refurbished or converted to training rounds and they cost nowhere close to 110,000/ea
Those would be old unguided MLRS rounds for the M270 if they were 25 years old in 2010.
GMLRS (M270A1 and HIMARS) wasn't in service until 2005
Which also means they'd be the old DPICM cluster munitions rather than the unitary warhead and fragmentation warhead rockets HIMARS is using
>Those fricking things are $110,000 each
to be honest looking at the monetary cost of each unit is kind of a mistake. a lot of the costs involved are labor costs, not material cost. and since all of this stuff is produced domestically with domestically produced materials, it doesn't really matter how much they cost to produce in terms of labor, since it's just the US paying itself.
the real cost are the materials used, and if those old missiles are mostly getting recycled, then it doesn't add up to much at all
thats also kinda the reason the kurds got milans from germany, the flare i the back got some really nasty radioactive stuff in it so they couldnt use it to train anymore and and disposal would also have been really expensive
Russia's artillery rate has dropped from 20,000 rounds per day to 5,000
So either they're running out of ammo or they've abruptly decided to stop shooting as a goodwill gesture
Yes, exactly. If I had linked Forbes or CNN or whatever you'd say it was Western propaganda. But India apparently fricking loves Russia for some reason and even they're saying Russia is running out of ammo.
5000 seems like a reasonable number. It seems like they just massively spammed artillery for no reason before.
I doubt it's gotten more accurate with their shot out barrels.
Eurasian Times runs ridiculous puff pieces in favor of Russia all the time. If they are running a story about how artillery barrages have dropped 75% then you know the real amount is somewhere around 90%
>In addition, vatniks no longer use armored vehicles during assaults,
to be fair the ground didn't really freeze over in a lot of ukraine this year so they've had an extended mud season, you don't see too many heavy ukie vehicles doing anythign either, both sides might be able to bring them more into play later
at least that's my understanding from some reports and looking at weather info
They have been saying that since the outbreak of the war yet Russia continues to fire off cruise missiles and artillery. Full of shit media.
The piggers can barely fire half of that amount. All of the fighting is concentrated around Bakhmut unlike during the spring and summer when the fight was all across the entire frontline.
>They have been saying that since the outbreak of the war yet Russia continues to fire off cruise missiles and artillery. Full of shit media.
cope harder zigger wienerroach. the intensity of their artillery has massively decreased, and it will decrease even harder >w-w-we're just holding back for the next offensive
cope harder you Russian mongrel
>Russia will run out of ammunition in two more weeks! >Missiles and drones continue to be intercepted by critical infrastructure
That is how you sound you disgusting Ukrop pigger. What I do know is that you are living on borrowed time, pigger, because western countries do not have the industrial capacity to produce ammunition in large quantities. Instead they are scouring the globe for ammunition instead of building up production capacity. I wouldn’t expect you to understand this though because you are a blind pigger supporter living in some neo-con fantasy.
Tell me my Ukrop friend, which country has a functioning electricity grid? Which country is constantly having to beg for weapons and equipment? Which countries benefactors are having to scour the globe for said supplies? Which country has committed an inordinate amount of soldiers (many of which are their best trained and equipped) to a supposedly “unimportant” city where they can be hit by artillery relentlessly?
You are living in a fantasy. When reality comes crashing down with great force I will be there to console you.

This is why there is no one supplying Russia with help. >Shit drones only traded for Millions in Jets >India demanding deeper and deeper cuts for oil and basically looting a corpse >China will not give any arms to them as their people laugh at their failure of a military.
I thought seeing the Twin Towers go down was the world changing event in my life time but I think seeing Russia finally collapse into irrelevancy will top the cake.
Way too optimistic. Russia will simply scale down their artillery use, and focus it on a few areas while ramping up production. Relying on vatBlack folk to run out of ammunition is foolish. General Zaluzhny asked for 300 MBTs and 600 IFVs, and DPICM shells for. Give these and let the Ukies maneuver warfare the vathomies to death.
A little bit worried that all this talk about reduced Russian artillery and AFV usage is actually signs of Russia preparing for a major offensive, and this talk of shortages is just wishful thinking.
We don't know what the supply situation is like at the stockpiles and depots, only what is getting fired at the front lines, and if the line is stable at the current rate of use it's hardly a crisis.
Maybe glowies know about real inventory levels but I remain cautious.
Yup, this. Many ominous rumours now that they will attempt another offencive. Meanwhile Germany drags it out as always. I dont think Russia is out of anything yet.
If Russians were planning something we would see them coming from miles (in fact we know something is going on in Belarus).

>running out of munitions
These are always misleading because of a few things
1)even if they run out of munitions, they will produce more to replace. However, they may need to limit their use of munitions in order to keep the demands at a stable level
2)they may need to ask other countries for munitions in order to keep up with the demand
The lack of context is what drives schizos to think "AHH THE WEST IS LYING RUSSIA STILL HAS SUPPLIES" even though they are accurate because of russia's limitations in how they use and distribute ammo and supplies. Its accurate, but more context is needed to understand the full picture. Just like with the missiles, russia utilized missiles in a unsustainable manner which resulted in them using them less and less. Russia is only using missiles once they came out of the factory, which means they did run out of missiles and had to limit their use and use them directly after manufacturing. Ir they have to utilize Soviet shit.
