Looks like the old multi layer trick posted on web boards for a long time now:

      >Camo Fabric
      >Radiant barrier reflecting outwards
      >Batting
      >Radiant barrier reflecting outwards
      >Camo fabric

I think the batting could be replaced with a poncho liner and radiant barrier could be replaced with a reflective casualty blanket

Anything with insulation will shield you from thermal imaging, for a little bit, then you get too hot and you shine brighter than the sun or die of heat exhaustion. Remember, that heat has to go somewhere

I remember an interview of some FDF sniper competing in a sniper competition, he talked about having a separate winter jacket just for switching positions relatively open areas where thermal observation was a problem.

There was also some stuff about having a piece of plexiglass to observe through and removing it just before firing. This type of position was invisible to thermal cameras from the front but they themself could still observe with normal optics.

That's cool. They've been selling them on Amazon for years and they're super cheap.

The company that "invented' this "wondrous technology" is an importer of European tile products. So is probably right about what it is. Someone is getting a new yacht for this.

What's next in optics technology once effective counter-thermals become a thing and start to get mass-produced?

      Just straight optics.
I mean, they'll keep thermal and IR, UV and the like, not reason not to have sensors for full spectrum parsed out and recombined but they'll filter through an AI pattern recognition that will be able to recognize faces and different types of movement, any pattern anomaly. The resolution will be something like 16 gigapixels too, processed in real time and recorded. It'll recognize your cell phone identity too.
The only way to avoid it will be never have direct line of sight but even then, you'll need to have more than just a wall separating you.

If you couldn't give a frick, why are you here? Why do you think anyone needs to be informed about this? Why are you trying to share a distinct opinion when you ostensibly "couldn't give a frick"?

Stop being a fricking tsundere caricature.
