Russia bros... what the frick are we doing?

Russia has employed a P-35 [SS-N-3B Sepal] supersonic anti-ship missile against Ukraine for the first time. The P-35 is one of the oldest Soviet AShMs remaining in Russian service, originally fielded in 1962.

Yes? Also there is a difference between a tube with a trigger and a missile from early cold war, the missile will surely go boom but it might not hit the intended target since it's older than the street outside my door.

I used to work with a guy from Pakistan who studied petrology in St Petersburg in the early 90's. One of his best stories was about this local gang of mongols he and his friends had beef with, and the time he and his mates had to go kick their shit in because they'd stolen his girlfriend's dog and eaten it.

Most countries adopted Carl Gustafs in the M3 or M4 variants in the 80s and beyond, the things that are very different from the old solid steel boat anchor. Modern ones use fiberglass construction, mount optics and use modern ammunition, with the only thing connecting them to the CG from the 40s is the ammo compatibility and caliber.

SS-N-3Bs, unlike the Cs were originally intended as the land attack missiles, not anti-ship ones that were developed later and were called P-35. It was used to arm submarines and use nuclear warheads and had CEP of about 3km back then.

It's been noticed from the wreckage of the recent RU missiles the internals are cobbled together shit. More than usual. If this is a consequence of sanctions, brain-drain, attempting to meet production quotas by cutting corners, or all of the above remains to be seen. And yes the wreckage indicates the ones they're firing right now are about as fresh as can be, some built in Q4 23.

Point being they wouldn't be shopping around for Nork and Iranian TBMs if they had proper internal production, nor deploying (surprisingly still functional) ancient anti-ship missiles for ground attack.

Im assuming that first part was meant for me?
