I have a 10/22 that reliably chews through more than 10k rounds without cleaning and still doesn't malfunction. I'll never understand what people expect out of it that think it's a "joke".

I'm genuinely happy for you that your taste in quality firearms is so poor that you can be happy with pot metal spraypainted crap so long as it's reliable. I'd rather spend my money on guns that aren't designed by boardroom committees to squeeze every cent of profit for shareholders.

You will never be a real gun owner. You have no guns, you have no bullets, you have no mags. You are a homosexual man twisted by drugs and surgery into a crude mockery of freedom.

All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Your ancestors are disgusted and ashamed of you, your “friends” laugh at your unarmed appearance behind closed doors.

Men are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed men to sniff out easy targets with incredible efficiency. Even airsoft guns that “pass” look uncanny and unnatural to a /k/ommando. Your lack of experience is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk /k/ommando home with you, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a glimpse of gutless inability to shoot things.

You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok. That the same crime rates are fine because gun crime is “worse”. But deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.

Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your parents will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they don’t have to report a gun death. They’ll bury you in a coffin without your favorite guns you could never touch, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a weakling is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably gunless.

This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

maybe you should tell CZ to not make their 457 in steel and use aluminum instead because you are smarter than them and know more about guns and it would save them money to use a casting instead of machined steel.

It's mostly QC of the small parts and finish inside the ejection port I think, and even then it's rare. My extractor snuck through having never been deburred. I deburred it myself and used it until my Volquartsen parts arrived (including a very expensive $13 extractor!1!!!11!!!). Oh the horrors; surely this never happened in the 60s or 70s...

while it's hard to frick up a 10/22, mine has a kindof sloppy magwell but cycles most of the time

Yeah that's really the only part of the design that bugs me. Would rather have a tighter magwell. But it doesn't matter 99% of the time and it's easy in/out so whatever.

              Anonymous

Should but shit happens. I could've emailed Ruger and had a new extractor for free but I was impatient and didn't want to send the whole damn rifle in which is what I assume they'd want; that would easily take a week or more and I wanted to set it up for the quickly approaching hunting season. For $0 I used a file I had and deburred it better myself. The VQ parts were already going to be ordered either way as I bought it fully intending to customize it straight out of the box.

          Anonymous

Forgot to mention I have new and old. Not much difference but more plastic. Newer trigger tends to be better maybe? I'm going on a small sample size. Have shot a late 80s one with what I thought was a pretty light trigger, only a bit heavier than my modern one with a Volquartsen target hammer in it. The late 80s hits a wall and stops until it breaks. The modern with VQ hammer moves as you pull. I also own a mid 90s one with a heavy as frick trigger that was an import. IDK what's with that model but it has a heavy trigger. Still has a metal trigger group. Hits a wall and stops until break same as the 80s one.

Brand new, mine would malfunction at least once in every 10 shots. Cleaned and lubed, problem remained. Replacing the extractor with an aftermarket one fixed it. Crap quality.

Ruger makes shit just like everyone else. The difference is they’re riding on the shoulders of the legacy built under Bill “Tread Harder Daddy” Ruger so people give them a pass. The PC Carbine? Shit. The 5.7 Carbine? Shit. They literally stole the design from LelKek for the LCP. Generally their older designs are going to be better because they’ve worked the kinks out and the designs are usually simple. Even then, Mini-30? Shit. The one thing they’ve consistently done right is the 10/22 and even then the quality has dropped dramatically on them. I think as a company they’re spreading themselves too thin trying to keep up with LARPing tactical nerds and trends instead of focusing on the fudd shit that they’ve been making since the 70s.

I disagree. I think Ruger's management has done an exceptional job bringing interesting guns that people can afford into the market and what you don't hear their customers saying is that they regret their purchase. I bought a used Mk3 on GB a long time ago. It had not been used and all the oil had crystalized to I took it completely apart and and the recoil spring "looked bad to me" so I called Ruger. The sent me a free replacement, and could not have been nicer about it. I went to put it in and it was the same as the original, I just didn't know what I was looking at. So I have shot that pistol ever since, taught people with it. Runs great. I bought a SR1911. Really wrung my hands over the cheaper price, would I regret it, never have. I have "high quality" guns too, but have never regretted buying a Ruger.

A seasoned small town, long tenure 30's+ fem, there was no chance of drilling. But an interesting conversation. Hmm, details and time... a fiend told me about his friend (local) who brought his "guaranteed-for-like" Ruger back in for facory service....
            >damn thing wouldn't cycle
            >guaranteed-for-life
            >hell, I'll just take it in!
Turns out the not-open-to-public lobby secretary was _not happy_ about a disgruntled customer showing up with a hand gun. (What did she expect?) Well, "factory service" requires an RMA in advance, requires shipping to rcv and route the product, the service department to evaluate the product per recalls vs. defects and THAT'S NOT DONE IN THE LOBBY!
            >WELL DO IT!
The disagreement in established Service Policy was conducted in an ever increasing volume like
            >THIS IS WHERE IT WAS MADE
            >FIX IT!
Bitches be b***hes, but eventually the Service Manager was called to de escalate the "product return" process and get the defective YOU-GUYS-MADE-IT-FIX-IT pistol working. It is not a happy plant. At one point, employees could rcv a free handgun after 5 yrs(?) service. Perhaps a cherry picked model? The plantvis right by the airport and does not tour the public. Or take RMAs through the lobby... Full disclosure, I own 2 Ruger revolvers and 2 MkIIs, all bought used. All work flawlessly.

I expect McDonalds to not give me food poisoning . I expect Ruger to not deliver machining marks that look worse than the bolt in my Carcano manufactured in 1894. The level of casting/machining marks on the gun is inexcusable for a gun with a $1100+ MSRP like the GP100.

S&W was owned for a time by an English holding company. That's when the Hillary Hole guns came into being. I was at their new plant in TN last October, a completely different management now. They threw a big party and as a guy who spends too much time around corporate types, it had a surprising lack of corporate homosexualry. Tickets for admission, food and drinks for sale, proceeds to charity. 5000+ people drinking "party liquors", and only a tiny little sign somewhere along the lines of "TN law forbids drinkin' and packin'" No drink limits. I met the country sheriff that day, nice fellow who seemed unconcerned. No metal detectors, and I think everyone there had something on them somewhere, All the S&W guns on display to FF. Plenty to drink and eat. Country music out of Nashville and end of day with Josh Turner. Shuttle busses in and out. It was a spectacular time and it raised a lot of money for local charities. So that is today's S&W.

Rugers are great for the kind of guy who wakes up every morning and puts his wrangler-brand jeans bought from Walmart on before he eats a bowl of Frosted Flakes with 1% milk. He then drives his made in Mexico Dodge Ram to his job at the water treatment plant where he puts fluoride in the water. For his lunch break he has a ham and kraft singles sandwich on sunbeam white bread. He stops by on the way home at McDonalds and gets a double quarter-pounder with a 10pc McNuggets on the side and washes the whole thing down with 2 cans of coors light. Ruger firearms are simply for the unthinking “value” minded consumer. For this man value isn’t driven by actual quality delivered per dollar but, by imagined quality per dollar. It’s all about how it makes him feel. The Ruger man is a synthetic man, a model modern consumer.

      Classist turd:
You are a brandie because you are too stupid to know what is quality and what is not. You don't have the background to know how things are made and where the value is created. You feel inadequate due to your insecurities and humble upbringing and overcompensate for it buy buying into some israeli made ideal. If you grew up not wanting for anything and being taught to earn anything you want, you would have money for anything you want and would buy what you want regardless of other's opinions. I own a few Rugers and other guns I like and I can afford anything I want because I am rich. You'd look down on me if you saw me in coveralls and my old truck, but be certain, I am better read than you, better educated than you, better traveled. I have more technical skill and apply it in more languages than you. I grew up rich, was taught why I was growing up rich, taught to keep what I earned. I am wealthy and will also inherit wealth, how much? Don't know, I don't have to know. More than I have and more than enough. Best part about making yourself rich? No fricks given. I admire men by how broadly they push themselves, particularly to do the things they find personally difficult and out of their wheelhouse. Do they pursue knowing and doing? These are the interesting ones I hang with. I own Rugers and also guns out of your financial reach. I see you in your North Face attire, which hasn't been good since the 80s like a ghetto Black with a fake gold chain.

Kinda unrelated but didn't Ruger anounced they're brining back older mini-14 models with folding stocks or am I dream-posting again?

      Anonymous

They partnered with Samson MFG in some way or another and now Samson makes the official folding stocks for the Mini. They even make them for the 10/22! Has been that way for a little while now. Pistol grips aren't as shiny and dark and the 10/22 doesn't have the mini/AC-556 style barrel band which I think is a bit of an oversight. Samson makes the stocks and barrel bands available in black/blued and stainless which is nice and the front barrel band has a Magpul QD in it included in a pretty tasteful and useful manner IMO. There's a slot and screw hole to put a QD swivel at the metal cap where the stock attaches as well if you buy the QD for a couple bucks which I did. Either way it's still a cool as frick stock and I use the one I bought for my 10/22 to go squirrel hunting. Looks best with a 15rd mag IMO. 25 curves too much.

          Anonymous

          https://www.samson-mfg.com/ruger.html
I think they used to use a resin type something or other for the grips back on the Falcon folders but I may be wrong. The modern ones are probably nylon. I had a friend's one owner Falcon folder for reference, though on closer inspection the Samson ones are closer to the original AC-556 stocks than the Falcon folders; the Falcons almost appears to use an A2 grip rather than a custom made one with diamond checkering. Also the 10/22 stocks, at the very least, only come in dark brown ("walnut") instead of shellac orange for some reason but it worked out for hunting. I've been thinking of making a replacement "correct" colored/finished grip but haven't quite gotten around to it yet as the mold alone would cost a relatively absurd amount of money ($30+ if I don't frick it up) and I'd have to probably clear coat (or maybe plastidip?) my grip to get rid of the texture to make the mold (to smooth the texture off mine), then start on figuring out how to make a replacement grip that won't shatter in various conditions meaning testing it on my hunting rifle. Considering I use mine as a hunting rifle I'm a little hesitant to say the least. Also I've been thinking about just using a Yugo AK pistol grip but I think I'd have to modify it. It's fine as it is honestly. Also they make a "heat shield" out of nylon that isn't quite perfect but at least looks correct for the most part for 20-some bucks.

Either way the more you look into it the more you realize that there are far more variations of "original" Mini folding stocks than you ever realized and nothing will ever be "correct"; the more you look into it the more you question. There's actual AC-556 folders, Falcon folders, Falcon 10/22 folders I didn't even know existed, knockoff 10/22 folders I didn't know existed, you name it. Also a lot of them came in black (metal on stock, hardware) for some odd reason. My 10/22 is personally stainless stock/hardware on a blued gun.

What's wrong with this, just use some high grit sand paper. Any gun you don't lube is going to look like this after a week no matter the manufacturer or if it's stainless steel. It's stainless not stain proof, if your that lazy hire a hill billy that likes guns to fricking polish it. oh boo hoo the machining is rough fricking CNC machine it yourself then you're still going to have to fricking sand and polish it at some point if you want it to get a nickle plating and be shiney like some pimp gun you want, why don't you get some mother of pearl handles while you're at it.
