Ruger 10/22 alternatives: are they legit?

Mossberg Blaze
Mossberg 702
Savage 64F
Winchester Wildcat

They're about twice as cheap as the 10/22. I don't care if they don't have the aftermarket of the Ruger, I'm going to shoot them out of the box.

Ruger magazines are very reliable and super easy to reload. And yes, they're available in higher capacity than 10. Ruger's rotary 10-shot is truly something magical.

Also, what fudd suggests large capacity magazines? Do you even know what a fudd is?

See if you can find a marlin model 60 used in a gun store or pawn shop. That’s my personal favorite cheap .22

Between the ones you listed, I have a savage 64 takedown so I would recommend the 64f. Very reliable and accurate enough for the price.

Someone just said in another thread that the Savage stock is tupperware class, what did he mean by that?

It feels cheap and plasticky, kind of like a spatula handle or something. They all kind of will. Even the synthetic stock on a 10/22 will feel a bit cheap and light.

If you want a nice, sturdy feeling gun, I would recommend the Marlin, or a 10/22 with a wood stock. The cz 512 looks good too but I haven’t shot one.

What’s your point? A Henry is more expensive than a 10/22.

          Anonymous

Not per unit fun it isn't. That Henry will serve for decades without a flaw or malfunction. A ghetto semi-auto probably won't last 5 years without needing service or extensive repair ... which will then make it at least as expensive as the Henry. Invest in quality from the beginning and enjoy every shot forever. Every time you pull that gun out in front of everyone and listen them gasp at its beauty, you will have a smug to last the rest of the week instead of meekly apologizing for bringing a niggun to a chadfest.

And, if you're really worried about that second shat at that wascally wabbit, git gud. You can cycle a lever faster than a semi-auto if you're not moronic.

I really doubt anyone is wearing out a 10/22, marlin model 60 or savage 64. Its okay to like a henry without shitting on guns that out number it by the tens of thousands.

Anon, IMO you should upgrade your scope's rings. Had a Barska on an AR and those rings just never stayed tight. Leupold rings are pretty cheap. Improved my Barska scope to better than new accuracy. I'm assuming your Barska is also a 1" tube. (you can find out by searching the model number on Barska's site)

Remington 597, no longer in production but a solid choice from my experience.

finding metal mags is a b***h though. the plastic first generation mags were absolute dogshit and gave the gun a bad name.

Thanks, already eliminated that one from my list. Do you think the Blazer suffers from the same issues?

It feels cheap and plasticky, kind of like a spatula handle or something. They all kind of will. Even the synthetic stock on a 10/22 will feel a bit cheap and light.

If you want a nice, sturdy feeling gun, I would recommend the Marlin, or a 10/22 with a wood stock. The cz 512 looks good too but I haven’t shot one.

Wildcat stock is made of polymer. Does polymer have the same spatula feel or is it of higher quality as far as synthetics go.

Polymer just means plastic. They’re all gonna be pretty similar. They’re cheap .22 semi auto rifles. I wouldn’t expect much in the way of build quality from any of them. If that is what matters to you I’d save up more or look for a used Marlin or Ruger like I said in my last post.

Id had one since 2002 its a good gun. It doesn't like some rounds mostly the all lead cheap Winchesters. I have had some terrible jams before where the round is bent at a 45 degree angle from the casing. Its accurate and reliable with ammo it likes.

TCR 22 is AMAZINGBALLS. 260ish for free floating barrel (threaded) fiber optic irons, accepts same mags, just swap out the cheap red dot that comes with it for a nice scope and you're set. It's a STEAL compared to the cost of a 10/22. And I'm not shitting on Ruger I love their shit too just not going to pay 3-4 times as much for one. I can spend that on ammo and be set.

can't find it in Canada, I'd have to import it from the US and that's gonna cost me a fortune when I clearly don't have a pot to piss in.

Where? Just did a quick check-around and the lowest price I see is $340 + $10 shipping ... oh, and that's discontinued. Next up is $370 +$20 shipping, up to $400, which is a common price. So is the $30 shipping.

That's depressing, but also the times we're living in. Including ffl about three years ago when I got it I didn't top 300.

Guys, would a Charger with a 4.5" barrel, BX trigger, In a Wiland USA chassis, with BX15 mags full of Velocitors be similar to a VZ61 Skorpion in size and firepower?

Wildcat sucks really bad. Lots of cheap plastic parts. My brother had one that broke on the first range trip after 50 rounds, we weren’t manhandling it either. Had to send it back to Winchester for service. He sold it and replaced it with a TCR that has been flawless ( but also more expensive)

Marlin model 795 more accurate then a 10/22 cause of the micro grooved barrel and you can usually find them for under 200 at pawn shops hell I bought mine for 130 ish pretty good aftermarket support even though it's a bit of an old discontinued rifle I've seen shit like a bullpup conversion kit for it and pro mag *yes there usually shit tier
