US Forest Service is planning to implement fees for use of trailheads, parking areas, etc...
What the frick is this bullshit? The government already gets plenty in taxes from me to cover this type of shit. Why are we getting nickel and dimed by the forest service now like it's our problem?
I would not be surprised if people start causing damage to forest related services if this passes

Every National Forest campground and picnic area I've ever been to has had a fee.
You can blame social media and the AllTrails lobby
>daily reminder kids, sharing places online is LNT!
>national lands yearly pass
Eat shit
I know bro. That's what I'm saying.
I wouldn't expect the US forest service, of all govt agencies, to pull this shit
The pass overrides any local park fees
as much as i'm against the idea of this:
its a good thing. less chinks and pajeets on the trails. it will be like 2005 again, where i can enjoy a nice day hike without driving 3 hours and only see the occasional friendly white boomers on the trail. less packs of 20 chinese blocking the entire pathway and refusing to let you pass without walking into them and forcing them physically to cuck out. no more blacks with their shitty bluetooth speakers. there's so many nice spots i used to enjoy around here completely ruined by the fact they're semi urban and surrounded by normies who got into the outdoors from reddit or instagram.
>no more blacks with their shitty bluetooth speakers
There are already no blacks innawoods. It's always rednecks with their DeWalt job site speakers.
On the one hand
>Paying to use land you, the public, already own
On the other
>Might keep unleashed shitbulls and blootoof-speaker-americans off trails.
>unleashed shitbulls
75% of the reason i started carrying a gun on every hike.
i hope for an opportunity to blast one one day.
frickin do it and post pics. dog frickers and their good boi pupperinos are trash
Uh oh, badass alert
nah the opposite.
i'm a pussy and those monsters scare me. i've seen them seriously frick up other dogs at the dog park and there's a big subculture of beaners around here who train them to fight other dogs and gamble on it.
The counter-argument is that you’re not paying for the land, but rather for upkeep on certain aspects of accessibility and maintenance; trail clearing and repairs to infrastructure. I’ve argued before that accessibility leads to damage and overcrowding, citing specific before and after examples. If the trails are clear and easy to access, more people show up, requiring more upkeep. Pretty basic stuff.
Why not increase federal funding for parks and forests instead of charging the end-user directly? I bet funding has been largely stagnant for decades. Remind me, who are the ones who DONT want to increase funding for national forests and parks?
>enhancement

What's the reasoning here? Last I checked National Forest sites must have a requisite number of services or amenities to justify charging the public a fee. Do these trailheads have outhouses, campsites, fire rings, lantern holders, hitching posts, picnic tables, or shelters? If not I believe they're trying to pull a fast one.
Forest service budget goes mainly to fire, even if none of its earmarked for it. Really bad fire years we get told that we need to cut shit out of the budget so it can go to fire, and every year is a bad fire year. My guess is it’s a way to claw back money for trail maintenance since they wouldn’t be able to touch it.
1. They were already taking your money.
2. You can access the Uintas via unimproved forest service roads for free -- this is just for Mirror Lake Highway (albeit, you already paid for the construction of the road and its annual plowing through your taxes).
3. Nobody carries $1's anymore. Making the fees in denominations of $10's and $20's doesn't really change how most people were using the drop boxes for the self-serve tags.
>didn't really care
>see its Uintah and will actually affect me
WHAT THE FRICK, FRICK THESE COMMIE CROOKS
