How to remove sticky label/glue from glass bottle?
I tried with a used shaving blade which worked better than if I used my bare hands. What now? I would want this bottle to be sticky-ness free.
Needless to say I want the glass bottle intact as I intend to use it for drinking water
you honestly needed to make this thread?
worse than we thought
>remembers when this board was active
I'll take it anon. One more thread to read before I have to go somewhere else.
what the frick is wrong with you, this board needs more threads and users, not less.
This qtddtot threads are fricking stupid here
OP made this thread on three boards, then later he made another few threads asking how to sharpen a razor.
at least hes not a troony like you
No troony in romania
Wipe it down with lighter fluid.
Mix water and washing soda. Leave it to soak about 10mins. I use it to take labels off beer bottles and they slide off with no effort, so I'm assuming it dissolves the glue.
Soak it in acetone
>Soak it in acetone
I'm not rich enough to afford wasting so much acetone
It costs $9 for a quart of acetone and that is more than enough to fill up a dish with it and set the goopy side down in it. You don't need to submerge the entire thing in a bucket of the stuff.
I live in Romania not america
use any solvant you can find, hell, even gasoline should works fine
To soak stuff overnight, instead of using a pan or a dish, use a piece of paper towel. Dip it in whatever solvent, then stick it on the reacting surface. If the solvent is especially volatile (e.g. gasoline, alcohol) then double wrap it with saran or some plastic film. This is usually how you strip varnish efficiently from furniture.
t. fricken moron
go to the make-up isle and get one of those big bottles of nail polish remover. Its cheaper and basicly just acetone.
this. even in the decadent west a bottle of nail polish remover can be had for 3$
No nail polish remover in romania
there's prostitutes in romania just like everywhere else, and prostitutes use nail polish and nail polish remover
No prostitutes in romania
cooking oil
doesnt matter what kind, olive,/veg, whatever
What do I do with it?
Drink it. The omega 3 fatty acids will increase your brain power and help you think of a solution
>cooking oil
Has worked wonders somehow, why?
Different materials have different solvents. Oil works for a lot of adhesives.
See this is why I read through even the idiotic posts on PrepHole
Every once in a while there's some gem buried in the replies and I end up learning something new.
The rule for solvents is ''like dissolves like''.
look up "like dissolves like" read the pubchem page and you'll have your answer
No pubchem pages in romania
Let some hand sanitizer sit on it for like 10 minutes
>Place bottle below running water
>Scrub with steel sponge
It shouldn't take anymore than 10 minutes to clean the bottle
>steel sponge
>scratches the shit out of the glass
Yeah... go back to bed kid
LOL
You having a good giggle?
I scrub wine bottles and other alcohol bottles clean all the time for reusing
I've pressed SO GOD DAMN HARD trying to scratch up the glass to see if I could
Never happened
Run it under cold water, it doesn't really matter
Just scrub the shit out of the bottle with a steel sponge you wash dishes with
Everyone suggesting chemicals is a fruit cake
HE'S PROBABLY GOING TO BE DRINKING FROM IT
ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL HIM?!
The adhesive isn't on the inside, bub.
I have OCD
I'm not putting chemicals anywhere near anything I'm going to consume
Enjoy your mesopheilia omaha
>I have OCD
Then why aren't you using the correct tool for the job?
>not putting chemicals anywhere near anything I'm going to consume
You'll want to steer clear of dihydrogen monoxide then.
Steel sponge gets its done quicker and I won't slice myself open
Survival and saving resources is the PrepHole way of life
No steel sponge in romania
Steel doesn't scratch glass dude. Mohs bro..
Isopropanol
A mixture of sulfuric and muriatic acid should do the trick
Some tap and die and some WD40
I NEED A HAMMER!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT UH HAMMER IS???
but unironically, this
in case it was unclear, WD-40 is what you need
Fricking sticky tape sticks best to itself so I TRICK it and use it to remove glue from surfaces. Just dab and pull.
the fluids in your ass should dissolve stickers
It's not really that complicated.
Why does it smell so good bros?
i usually just use rubbing alcohol and a green scrubbie for that
This shit is legit magic and will clean fricking anything. You can get it on your hands and not have them melt off. It's expensive stuff but it's incredibly worth it to steal some from work
really shitty bottles aren't actually stained, a lot of them just have a coating and it'll flake off and make a mess
then again if you want a decorative bottle like a weirdo, that shit will flake off with age anyway so i guess it's worth it to hit it with some steel wool and get that tragedy out of the way before you dust it in a month and get a pound of nasty brown flakes all over you and your room
>really shitty bottles aren't actually stained
Mine is clear and I would like them to be that way so I can see if something happened to my drink
>take some from work
I have a goo gone/goof off collection from my old job. The spray, the extra strength, the industrial, in big cans and spray bottles, everything pretty much. I sleep well at night knowing I will never struggle to remove glue in my entire life. Unlike OP
Exactly. OP, you're a dumbass but here's your answer
It's Limonene you want. Haven't found a way to buy it cheaper in bulk yet.
No limonene in romania
Diesel fuel. Not joking, it works really well for that. Just wet the sticker, let sit for 5m and then wipe off with a cloth or paper towel.
Fire.
>How to remove sticky label/glue from glass bottle?
cut or tear a piece of paper towel or other absorbent material to fit the area with the glue
place the absorbent material flat against the glue with the surface horizontal and facing up
apply a few drops of petrol. acetone, diesel, or any hydrocarbon solvent on the absorbent material
wait a few minutes and press a finger against the material and see if it slides easily or resists moving
if it resists moving, keep the material moist with solvent and continue testing and waiting
once it will slide easily you can use the material as a wipe to remove the glue
use fresh paper towel or other absorbent material lightly soaked with solvent to complete removal
clean up with fresh soapy water.
You're welcome.
>petrol. acetone, diesel
I have neither
>any hydrocarbon solvent
Does this include rapeseed or sunflower oil?
>rapeseed or sunflower oil?
no - machine oil, WD-40, etc.
>machine oil, WD-40
I don't have any lubrication, much less brand name lubrication as I don't depend on a private automotive vehicle for my transportation needs instead I use my legs.
Moisten a cloth in water.
Put some dirt on moist cloth.
Use abrasive action of dirt to remove glue.
You do have dirt, water, and cloth don't you?
I scrubbed it with soap too and it didn't work
I didn't mention soap.
I said DIRT and WATER
>I have neither
How?
Life is roblox
Captcha:TIGAN
OP is a kid from Romania.
Somehow related:
How do I protect glue from sunlight/UV?
I would like to fix a hole in my greenhouse but the sun eventually destroy the glue/tape, please help.
>I would like to fix a hole in my greenhouse but the sun eventually destroy the glue/tape, please help.
Was the greenhouse originally made out of glue and tape? No? Then you should probably use the materials it was originally built with.
No greenhouse in Romania. Was smuggled in from Moldova on back of mule.
sandpaper and rubbing alcohol
Get some lighter fluid and a toothbrush, soak and scrub and repeat.
Or set it in as hot of water as your sink will make, and swap it out every few hours after it goes cold.
Coconut oil is the best. It just works for everything and smells good.
Soak it in your pee for three months, minimum
Leave it in a bowl of hot water and dish soap overnight. It should come right off. If you are not patient, try rubbing alcohol.
Keeping this awful thread up because if we don't the romanian will just make it again.
>Needless to say I want the glass bottle
go to same spot where homeless bums are
>find better bottle
If rubbing alcohol doesn't work olive oil usually does the trick.
No olive oil in romania
No olive oil in a Mediterranean country? How?
>How to remove sticky label/glue from glass bottle?
OH YEAH BB
I LOVE THE SMELL OF GOO GONE WHEN I NEED A GOOD STIFF DRINK
No goo gone in ramania
Now have a water stain on my shirt though
naturally, you can't have shit in romania
Isopropyl, moron
Any hydrocarbon will do, too
No isopropyl in romania

wtf do you drink out there then ?
Any mineral spirit, such as kerosene, lighter fluid, WD40...
Vegetable oil (then use dish soap to remove the oil)
Commercial products like Goof-Off or Goo Gone
3M 08984
It's glass, use literally anything except hydrofluoric acid or more glue
>How to remove sticky label/glue from glass bottle?
WD-40
done it before, does incredible job at removing any glue or glue residue from glass
heat it up (the more, the better) and put in icy water, the glue will strip off
mean
Holy frick just burn it off you poor homosexual and let this thread die
run it through the dishwasher and wipe away the softened glue as soon as its finished
No dishwasher in romania
tea tree oil
aww, the 'how do I sharpen a razor' threads died
Try gasoline.
Can we have a picture of the cleaned bottle?
