Eurofriend here. Apparently you can’t just head out innawoods and shoot in most american states?
Some states don’t even allow target shooting on BLM land afaik.
People always bring up ID, WY, MT and maybe UT when it comes to recreational shooting.
These states are reportedly getting flocked by Californians though.
tl;dr what parts of the US should I visit if I want to dodge commies and enjoy peak recreational shooting?
The ones you just listed. Any state with a lot of public land that allows for shooting. Many states completely allow for innawoods shooting, just on your own land. You’re going to have to know someone though and they’re going to have to both provide the guns to shoot and either take you to legal public land or provide the property where you have permission to shoot.
>You’re going to have to know someone though and they’re going to have to both provide the
Honestly the most relaxed option would be a big game hunting trip, tell the operators up front you want to do some recreational shooting while you're there and they will be more than willing to accommodate.
Can get kind of pricey tho
Obvious is obvious. I'm about 15 minute from shooting on open land with great backstop. Not including loading.
You do realize California has recreational shooting places innawoods right? The forest service and rangers just get passed off and shit places down if you don't pick up all your brass and paper plinks
>great national parks and outdoor environments
>tons of very sparsely populated land you can shoot on
>shit gun laws
why bros? it could have ben the chosen state...
unironically Reagan
This.
The amnesty was the worst bargain ever, especially since the dems didn't uphold their end.
Hollywood attracted a certain tribe.
The laws don’t really apply when you’re in the middle of the desert, anon
>hese states are reportedly getting flocked by Californians though.
everyone shoots on public land in California
Actual answer here from someone who moved from a state where you CAN just go innawoods, to one where I can't
The main thing to look for is federal land. Look at a map of it. The states you listed have tons of national forest and BLM land, both of which you can just go shooting whenever if there's no fire risk/restriction and you're not doing it near a road or building. Other states have basically zero federal land. Some states are pretty much 100% privately owned land which would be trespassing if you went innawoods and shot without permission. Other states (like my new one, PA) have moronic laws about state-owned land that make it legally hard to shoot.
tldr just look at a map of federal land (BLM and national forest mainly) and go somewhere with lots of it
What about Michigan? plenty of BLM and national forest in the north
And no way to easily access any of it.
why?
someone elaborate
Well I'm not sure exactly what that dude is talking about, it's all in the UP but the land is plenty available
You do have to be willing to drive for hours into unending forest though
First you have to get to the UP, then you have to traverse through miles of either frozen hellscape (9-17 months out of the year) along roads that are either snowmobile trails or poorly maintained asphalt that would make you think you're on the moon. All to shoot in some admittedly very pretty woods. Oh and you have to avoid the methed up Finns who are squatting out there.
T. Grew up in Newberry.
>the UP
plenty of public land on the LP. no need to drive up to the finns
Inner-city with Democrat mayor's all have free shooting galleries right downtown. The double tap headshot is the best way to score the most points. Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, LA, NYC are free range cities.
Enjoy your visit and remember to always watch your six.
There is BLM land, but there are also private shooting ranges and public shooting ranges.
I live in Tennessee and just a few miles from my town we have a shooting range.
I keep meaning to go there and find out what it costs to use it, I just don't have much time.
Dedicated shooting ranges are boring. I shoot on them all the time in yurop.
One of the most magic things about murica is being able to grab your rifle and head innawoods and have fun shooting. That amount of freedom is what I want to experience when I’m visiting
People complaining about Californians are exaggerating. Shooting is allowed on most national forest and BLM land as long as you follow rules like don’t do it near campgrounds or roads. Literally just look at a map of national forest and BLM land and pick where you want to go as far as terrain and climate. As long as it’s more than an hour or two drive away from a major city you shouldn’t have any trouble at all.
>Californians
What I gathered is many of those who leave California do so because they are sick of Commies too
They are the equivalent of viruses exiting the destroyed cell to reinfect new ones.
Washington, Oregon, Colorado.
I tell you, Montana is next!
Montana is already in shambles actually
Just got to Reno or Vegas and rent a machine gun like all the other Asians do, it's honestly just fine, we expect it
>what parts of the US should I visit if I want to dodge commies and enjoy peak recreational shooting?
None, stay in Europe.
Shooting in the woods is for demoralized larpers anyway. Most normal people would kick your ass for that.
What does this even mean, people shoot on public land daily. I've even met some nice people to shoot with before and I now have a black powder buddy from it.
>Shooting in the woods is for demoralized larpers anyway. Most normal people would kick your ass for that.
I've never shot at a range even once in my entire life. Woods and fields only. I keep meaning to go to a range one of these days but I love the woods and my own land.
Don’t talk about America bro
National forest, BLM land, all good to shoot on outside of fire restrictions and away from designated campsites, not over roads, etc.
I can drive 30 minutes in 3 directions from my house and be shooting.
which state
>WY,
Public land is blocked by boomer ranchers and you can legally access it, you will be arrested.
Look up corner cutting and all the associated drama, if you have a helicopter you can do it though.
>You cant legally access it.
FWIW a big Wyoming ruling just went against ranchers and in favor of hunters anon. Seriously exciting:
Of course this can still go to appeal, and it's not binding precedent nationwide or anything yet, but it's a valuable step and reinvigorates the Unlawful Inclosures Act of 1885 as a defense of public land use.
for real? that’s fricked up
See
, it's not some settled law thing but rather a long standing fight (due to a bunch of stuff of really ancient US history, think 1785 to 1850s ancient). And it now may be going against the rich people trying to steal public land.
>People always bring up ID, WY, MT and maybe UT when it comes to recreational shooting.
And AZ and NM, and California, and Nevada, and texas, and Kansas and most of the US west of the Mississippi. The rest of the states have free ranges on state land, like Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, NM, Ohio in my direct experience, and it's likely the same in nearly all states.
So what were you b***hing about you subhuman whimpering homosexual noguns yuropoor?
I live next to huge state park where you can't shoot firearms and airguns unless it's some private property which is far enough from some town . They have a couple of private shooting ranges in the area. The closest public land is like at least 200 miles away and it's not like you can show up anywhere in that national forest and start shooting muh guns you need to know places where it's legal to do. Shit sucks.
>it's not like you can show up anywhere in that national forest and start shooting muh guns
why
I live in Maine, and most people know someone with land you can shoot on.
>Maine
I miss maineprepper. I wonder how he’s doing
UP Michigan is cool, but if you are vacationing from abroad, its probably more worth it to visit the western US. If you move to a place like LP MI try and make friends with people who own forested land. My neighbors allow free access to anyone they know to enjoy 100+ acres of woods.
you lucky son of a b***h.
I like Michigan. It’s the underrated underdog and I hope it stays that way
Aussie moron here what the heckerino is BLM land?
Black Lives Matter land
Had me worried about the absolute state of the US of A
Cheers cobba
Land owned and managed by the government. BLM (Bureau of Land Management) is a sort of catch all term for that but most people are refering to public parks, but it can also include old mines, farms, ranches and so on that are no longer owned by anyone, hell even some old factories and military sites that are no longer in use are technically BLM land.
It's worth noting a lot of this land changes hands a lot and sometimes gets sold off, so it's worth checking to make sure your maps are up to date.
Any other Sun Valley bros out here?
Rural Wisconsin. Even in less rural areas you can shoot guns and as long as you aren't being totally fricking stupid about it where you have houses or a road in front of you, people won't really care.
is that the state with the funny accents? only Pennsylvania is worse
is it true that the boomers in northern Michigan are grumpy as frick?
BLM land is a west coast thing. There is no BLM land in much of the country.
I got no coast in sight and I'm surrounded by BLM.
I live in Utah and theres some broad laws like no shooting at structures, no discharging a firearm 500ft from roads/homes, from a vehicle, shit like that, then most cities have laws agaisnt shooting in city limits. So really anywhere thats on public land not in city limits, or protected by the government, you can shoot in a safe direction without trouble. Youll wanna be far enough away from anywhere with people that you dont annoy them but me and my friends used to magdump 5.56 into trash just far off of trails that it wouldnt bother hikers or their dogs, and as long as they cant hear it from their homes or the roads, nobody out there is gonna make a fuss.
