Israel has no operational depth and is run by short-sighted morons who didn't spend the last 20 years developing civilian and military infrastructure redundancies.

When you literally have 3 meaningful ports and 1 meaningful international air port, it does not take a lot to hobble your logistics.

Anon, expectation for average nation state that they don't make ballistic missiles. 90% of the countries don't make them.
Notorious Iraq didn't make ballistic missiles, they bought notorious SCUD missiles (remember those?) from USSR and they were complete trash with miles size CEP. USSR themselves only started to make precision long range ballistic missiles with Iskander missile which got DSMAC seeker in 90s.
Point of that guy was technology progressed so fast that capabilities just recently reserved only fir big scary Russians became COTS tech available everywhere and impossible to sanction and control, so just any guy can start building precision guidance missiles in his shed (or any 3rd wold shithole).

        Yes. They really do.
Twitter is ripe with "You couldn't even beat the Taliban how can you invade Iran????" style of takes.

Nobody said "invasion" on this thread. Not me at least.
US didn't invade Syria and Americans have a few bases in the north of the country just because Israel was threatened by le evil Assad. Some died too. Those men didn't deserve to die for Israel.
        That's what I mean.
Americans, just let Israel deal with their problems. They are a nuclear country, with a militarized society. Let them send their troops, ships and planes. Nukes even. Stop being their dogs.

        Anonymous

Yes, and not without basis, because senators, congressmen and presidential candidates regularly agitate for it. Generally its not in the interests of the administration to escalate, but the expectation of thirdies is that one day it will be, and they're probably right. I think if the US takes a swing to the neocon right in 2028 then an Iran invasion can be practically guaranteed for moronic biblical reasons.

          Anonymous

Do the neocons have much chance of that, though? I know they still have a lot of behind the scenes influence but they're electoral poison to both parties bases.

Just look at Fox news today and they are effectively saying that they will jump in to defend Israel if things escaltevwn a bit.

Biden confirmed ironclad support for Israel likely they won't get involved in the strike that Israel will soon do but rest assured Israel will try to escalate even further and Iranian leaders are stupid enough to go along with it effectively giving the possibility for Israel to drag the US into the conflict.

Don't forget you guys already got roped in for bombing the Houtis in Israel place.

Personally I don't expect boots on the ground, Israel already got the US to do that in Iraq and it was such a mess that it should keep the US away from such a plan, but an air campaign is definitely on the table.

That thing can’t be real. Is it fueled up, primed, programmed and then loaded on the rail via crane for firing? Do they just set it up like that and let it sit for how ever many months / years until it needs maintenance? How does the missile leave the rail with those retention rings on — is there a skid that flies off with it or something? Will the big civiliian truck cab windshield be okay with eating a direct face-full of rocket exhaust? I’m sure the crew would be inside the trailer during launch but would they still have a working truck afterwards? Can that modded trailer roof handle the weight of what looks to be a several tons (are we sure that just isn’t just a prop)? Basically…is this a real or even represent a real weapon system or is it just a low-effort prop some Iranian collage students created for infowar purposes?

Now that I think about it — I wonder if these types of shitty props isn’t to fool the world, but just to have something to show the senile religious leadership as proof of great and powerful works of Islamic budget at work? Iran is famously super-corrupt it wouldn’t surprise me.

      >Is it fueled up, primed, programmed and then loaded on the rail via crane for firing?
Probably, that's how most missiles get on their TEL. But in this case the missile is solid fuelled, it comes fuelled from the factory.
      >Do they just set it up like that and let it sit for how ever many months / years until it needs maintenance?
Usually not, the missiles are kept in warehouses where they are maintained and loaded on launchers if or when they are needed.
      >How does the missile leave the rail with those retention rings on
It doesn't, they would be removed before firing.
      >Will the big civiliian truck cab windshield be okay with eating a direct face-full of rocket exhaust?
Probably, SRBM TELs have regular windows
      >is this a real or even represent a real weapon system
Yes, maybe? It's a Fateh 110 on its launcher. This specific launch vehicle has not been seen much, all the photos are seemingly from the same parade. Pic rel is the same system different launcher, same principle. Fateh 110 is old as far as Iranian systems go and this TEL is probably an early model. Most of the photos you see online are of a different 6x6 truck, or an 8x8 with a double launcher.

moronic. Should have used a stock rolloff truck then made a custom container so the truck acts as a TEL. Every launcher could look exactly like a tarped rolloff container from above.

If your launcher cannot be known as such from a walkaround then it's done right.

The reason why Iran hasn’t been regime-changed by now is because they’re only minor players in geopolitics. They’re relevant, but not very significant. What protects them is that no one besides the U.S. has the power projection to handle anything but small islands. They inflict various annoyances on the U.S. regionally and weaken the project against Russia, but in the end of the day nothing they have or do is worth the US political capital needed to get rid of them. Except for maybe the nuclear program but even that isn’t enough to make the U.S. take action as we saw in North Korea.
