You want a concealed carry weapon to have an "aesthetic" - why? Are you defending yourself against the fashion police?

BTW, if (god forbid) you ever do have to defend yourself, some George Soros prosecutor is going to show pictures of your weapon to the jury and suggest that you pimped it out because you were hoping to one day use it to kill an innocent person of color on their way to church. You have to know that's what's going to be said.

yikes. Please stay far away from me with that attitude.

Guns are tools. They are purely functional objects. Their form follows their function.

Furthermore, they are deadly tools. If you start thinking of them as toys or fashion accessories, then you're not handling them with the respect that is required by a deadly tool. You're going to accidentally have a nice day or someone else.

          >If you start thinking of them as toys or fashion accessories, then you're not handling them with the respect that is required by a deadly tool
NTA, but I disagree with that statement. Plenty of toys are lethal: fancy RC models can cause major damage when they crash. Speedboats, race cars, motorcycles, ATVs, are crazy dangerous. So is the equipment used for hobby woodworking, welding, etc. The idea that a toy cannot be dangerous is fricking absurd.

But speaking of absurd, I do agree that it's dumb to pick your CCW to customize. Pick your CCW with purely practical intentions. If you want to customize a gun for a cool range toy or whatever then do that separately. I think that's especially true in this case since many of the common features on "cyberpunk" sort of style, like a blocky shape, big compensators, sharp corners, lots of little levers and switches, exposed wiring for a light or laser, etc, is all counterproductive for drawing from concealment. Making your lifesaving tool worse because it looks cool is just dumb. Carry something compact and easy to draw for your CCW. If you want to bling out a range toy then do so separately, and you can go wild with whatever you think is cool without it affecting your EDC.

Aesthetics and functionality are not mutually exclusive. Cyberpunk neomilitarism is all about flat, clean lines and minimalism. And black. And I want to want to carry it around every day

              Anonymous

              >Aesthetics and functionality are not mutually exclusive.
Not always, but in this case I think they are.

              >Cyberpunk neomilitarism is all about flat, clean lines and minimalism
The OP pic you posted has tons of extraneous lines on it--the forward serrations on the slide and the little 3-dot thing next to them that got popular from manga artists drawing rivets back in the day. You've got the hooked front sight (terrible for drawing), the massive comp, serrations on the front of the trigger guard, not to mention the lines on the magazine extension don't match the grip. I think it looks damn cool, but it's not minimalist or clean. It even has the gold highlights on the takedown lever, the trigger, the slide release, etc. That's the opposite of minimalist: it's deliberate contrast to highlight the mechanical details of the gun. It has absolutely terrible carry ergonomics.

Now there are certainly other options you could go with that are both cyberpunk and carry friendly but they don't look much like OP. Picrel wouldn't be too bad, especially if you bobbed the hammer and replaced the rear sight with something that didn't stick out so much. Of course the grips could be improved any number of ways, machined black G10 would look pretty sick. Or transparent plastic for the blade-runner look.

Nitpicking, that is a full size handgun with suppressor height sights for use with a red dot. The serrations and such would not hinder carrying at all on a handgun actually designed for CC and minimalism doesn't preclude two tone items

                >that is a full size handgun with suppressor height sights for use with a red dot.
Yeah. That's why it's a bad carry piece.

                >The serrations and such would not hinder carrying at all on a handgun
No, but they're certainly not minimalist in design.

                >minimalism doesn't preclude two tone items
Not necessarily, but it's certainly a step in the wrong direction. It's just another added detail, like the design of the serrations and the 3-dot design. The more details you add the farther away from minimal you get. And that gun has a lot of details, which is why it looks cyberpunk. I'm disagreeing with the notion that cyberpunk guns are minimalist in appearance.

what? elaborate on this. Cyberpunk is a family of aesthetics, and an item can incorporate minimalist elements while also featuring little greeblies on occasion. A totally minimalist gun would be minimalist but there wouldn't necessarily be anything to make it stand out as cyberpunk, which ranges from neomilitarist on the minimalist end to neokitsch on the tons of useless shit end. I'm not saying it needs to be a featureless block. you have a poor understanding of the subject
                >a) nothing like the minimalism you claim to want

As far as I know they are fictional, I think it is devs interpretation of the "massive titanium helmets" the rangers use in the books. It is obvious that Glukovsky was talking about Altyns/PSH-77s when he wrote the passage. The devs rectified it somewhat in Last Light by giving many of the rangers T-Rys/Lynx helmets

Trigger control is huge. You can practice by balancing a coin on the muzzle and dry firing over and over until you can consistently do it without it dropping, then advance to something less stable.
I also recommend the thumb by thumb grip, that has helped me a lot. Another trick I've used is putting my trigger finger through the trigger and assisting it with my left thumb, which allows for a super clean pull/break even when the trigger I'm working with is mega shitty.

Generally yeah, most SD scenarios are over in 3 shots. Most revolvers fire rounds that are comparable to the big 3. Their manual of arms is quite simpler. The only thing is even .38spl wadcutters can run you more than some gucci 9mm.

The only reason I dont carry an airweight .38 is that the meth zombies taking over my area tend to need way more than 3. Whatever is in this shit it turns them hyper aggressive. They target people for insane reasons like "your brakes squeaked so I am going to follow you home and try and murder you and your family". Yes but no. Yes in that most of the time pulling your gun is sufficient to ward off an aggressor and that the average number of shots fired in such an encounter is three, so six is adequate. No in that averages aren't authoritative, and the distribution of shots fired is roughly bimodal with one peak being firing a shot and the other is shooting to slide lock/empty cylinder. Additionally, it's not at all uncommon to be attacked by more than one aggressor at once, and nobody ever complained about having too many bullets in a gunfight.

    Because that person is me.

The ATF flip-flopping on braces 3-4 times makes it near entrapment. However if this ruling came immediately 10 years ago I'd find it hard to disagree that under the plain text that a stock with a hole in it is still a stock and everyone knowledges that consciously or not.
That being said the concept of NFA items especially barrel length based items should not exist and likely will not exist within the next 10 years.

        https://i.imgur.com/sv3XjBc.jpg

ATF is doing what the illegitimate POTUS and his handlers want, not Congress. But shame on Congress for letting agencies abuse admin rules for so long and letting the ATF get away with murder.

ATF should be disbanded my qualm is that a stock with a hole in it was always a stock. I hope Mock v Garland removes SBRs under common use arguments.

You're somewhere in the strict constructionalist/textualist camp, legally.

Surely a strict constructionalist would follow the line of I can't remember the Court case but essentially that all unconstitutional laws should be ignored.
For me I'd say I'm a strict "letter of the law"ist whilst the law exists but as I said fundamentally all gun laws are infringements.
With Bruen I see that NFA items. Mag bans and "assault weapon" bans are all up for the block so I want to see it corrected very soon.

          >but essentially that all unconstitutional laws should be ignored
Not necessarily ignored. Dealt with appropriately through formal channels, more like. The case you're thinking of took a much more hard-line stance because it was the SC, where the formal channel is them acting as ultimate arbiter. For any lower court, a constructionalist would merely say
          >we are attempting to circumvent the law
          >the law is bullshit
          >the law should be judged as such by the proper authorities
Which sounds very in line with your posiition.

Could CMMG's radial delay blowback concept be adjusted to work for intermediate rifle rounds? Maybe with a bolt face sized like a CMMG Mutant for the beefy lugs, but for just 5.56/300. Would there be any benefit over piston/DI?

Depends on your pockets. I carried a ruger lcp (the original) for a while, but it was really unpleasant to shoot for any amount of time. Now I carry a p365 and even though it’s 9mm, it has much better ergos and is more comfortable to shoot. It’s heavier, but it’s honestly not that much bigger and I have no problem pocket carrying it. I think you’re better off getting something just barely big enough to shoot competently than a tiny pistol that is hard to shoot well.

        Anonymous

I'm leaning toward the GX4 since it has that rebate that's about to expire and from what I understand it's pretty much a knockoff P365 but part of me wants the revolver just because it's a revolver lol. Maybe I'll get the GX4 and wait on a sale for the others.

No. They're really slim which means easier to conceal than a fat double stack. They make alloy frame ones that lighten it up a little bit.

Grip safety and manual safety makes them very safe to carry too, 2 layers of safety on top of a good holster. A good holster and a belt are a must for comfortable carry.

I carry my 10mm Delta Elite time to time, I have a loose grip safety so it rattles like cowboy spurs when I walk.

I'm new to shotguns and would like suggestions on what ammo to get from the shop tomorrow.
So far I've tried #7.5, BB, and rifled slugs, just for obliterating soda bottles and tin cans so far.

I don't really do any hunting yet, but I'd like to have a few boxes of something useful for duck hunting or other small-ish game, some more slugs, and at least a couple boxes of something larger (maybe buckshot or 00?) in case of 'skinwalker' emergencies.

Any recommendations, specifically for pic related? I'm in Aus if that matters, too.

00 buck in the largest amount you can get.
the specific 00 doesnt matter. learning that brand and how it patterns matters. you will only get that if you buy roughly 1k and actually practice.
being able to buy the 1k and shoot the 1k matters more than the best round.
it doesnt matter if you bought a 5 round box of the best shells if you have no idea how it will pattern and spread. what it will do at different ranges.
you need to buy something stack deep and actually shoot.
people say shit like 4 buck is optimum but you will never find 1k 4 buck in the same spot. you need that 00 and you need to practice to the point where you can predict exactly what that 00 will do when you pull the trigger.

        Anonymous

I'll pick up a few boxes of 00 buck to start with then, I'm not in a position to buy a crate of 1k rounds just yet sadly.
Should I get 2.3/4" or 3" shells? The A110 can hold 5 rounds of 2.3/4" but only fits 4 rounds of the 3" shells.

          Anonymous

          >Should I get 2.3/4" or 3" shells?
buy 1 box of each and shoot
if you can handle 3 and afford to buy and shoot 3 go for it.
in my experience while i can handle it i cant afford it. also the things i shoot dont require 3 to die. 2 3/4 is fine
buy something common (so you can practice) in bulk amounts.
if thats 7.5 2 3/4 cause it comes in 100 packs then thats what it is.
knowing what the ammo will do is more important than anything

          Anonymous

I have both 2 3/4 00 buck and 3 in magnum 00 buck, 2 3/4 tends to pattern better from what I’ve seen but it can vary

Most guns that use polymers come in different colors. Are there differences between the different colored polymers in terms of physical properties like strength, hardness or toughness?

      Anonymous

yes there is. In injection molding, and 3d printing. it can be negligibl or it can be significant. usually the ppl selling you the pellets do the heavy lifting science wise. Black is usually the best (carbon black) blocks UV and that protects the polymer chains from.

        Anonymous

So is there any good reason why I shouldn't just buy every gun in black and then paint them?

          Anonymous

NTA, but if you're painting the gun anyway you're still shielding it from UV, so there's no point in buying it in black. Additionally, carbon black isn't the only or even the most common type of black colorant in plastics manufacturing. "Universal black" is much more common, because carbon black is so much dirtier and carries significant flammability hazards when suspended in air. Universal black is basically just mixing a bunch of shit you'd otherwise scrap together until you hit a pretty loose color spec, regardless of technical performance. Non-black colorants are formulated and dispersed in either solid pellet or liquid additive form specifically to meet a more rigorous color standard while not compromising (or even enhancing) whatever technical performance specs the customer has requested. If you feel comfortable trusting the firearm, you can trust it regardless of what color polymer you bought it in.

Should probably just do that though you might need to put a coat of white down first to get the colors right. I remember a guy who built PVC pipe backyard rollercoasters talking about how the pipes (used as track) quickly get brittle in the sun. However, even with the lightest coat of paint, they last way longer. Not that it'd really matter with guns unless you're outside every day.

Worst case assuming the whole brace ban pulls through, what about if I got an ar pistol and put a rifle length buffer tube on it and made the buffer weight super light or something whatever will tune it best? You could then put a rubber sock or furniture slider or something on the end for okay shouldering. Making buffer tubes stock shaped seems like it'd be the next thing if the brace ban sticks but then I guess they might start regulating buffer tubes but that's how it is as currently a buffer tube is legal cause it's required for an ar pistol to function so I think you could do a lot of cali type shenanigans with that if the market were to meet a long term brace ban.

      Anonymous

Whichever you like more, the LCR is marginally nicer but is polymer and boomers will say it feels cheap. From what I've seen, LCRs stand up to abuse better because the polymer has some flex where the aluminum of the smith just eats recoil and will need service sooner, especially if you are shooting a bunch of +p. The 642 has been around forever but its hard to find one with several thousand rounds on it that didn't need work, where there are a few documented cases of LCRs surviving at least that long.
