Fired one. I don't care for the trigger pull (I fired AUG and L85 before and they're just about the same) but that iron sight being that high is asinine
I've heard from canadians that the trigger is ass. from seeing it disassembled, it seems /adequate/ but not innovative in any way. if offered one I'd probably pass
Looks really cool but really uncomfortable. On a side note, there's something so aesthetically pleasing about that photo. It reminds me of picrel poster for Norinco (not sure if original or fan-made)
The mechanical design is quite decent.
The top charging handle making an adoption of a long picatinny rail difficult is an unfortunate design decision made before picatinny rails took off.
I think that a new front handguard design with a side charging handle and a long flat top rail permanently bolted on to the barrel to allow for all sorts of optics would have been a better decision than adopting a whole new rifle.
The Famas style receiver is brilliant for bullpups imo and everyone should copy it for bullpups.
The "civilian" version the Cannucks have been getting are flat tops with rails, dunno if the Chinese themselves bothered to apply that modification to their own rifles since they don't field nearly enough optics for the vast majority of their troops.
The bullpup gun in Arma 3 Apex is a QBZ-97 with those civilian modifications
A small number of the 12ga shotgun variants were imported to the US several years ago by DDI before they went bankrupt. I have one but it's unfired since they are actually tuned as "riot guns" and therefore have insane recoil with regular 12ga hunting loads. You can look up old videos from MAC and MrGunsnGear to see how violently they recoil. AFAIK they're still being imported into Canada by Lever Arms, but no other US importers have picked them up.
It screams "bad guy gun" and for that, it looks great. For the Chinese they were also able to have it for when they retook Hong Kong. Functionally, the trigger isn't known for its quality and the first varia t had an awkwardly placed selector.
Though seeing as how the PLA is moving away from bullpups, I'd say they decided the 95 was a dead-end.
I would like the opportunity to shoot a fully-semiautomatic one, but I know that I won't get the chance for another five or so years
You can buy them in Canada.

We’ll never really know until the post-war trophies make their way back to the US.
Just go up north and rent one
My favorite chink gun is a chink made RPK

We don't have a lot of options for 5.56 rifles up here anymore.
He's just underage or still living with antigun parents
I heard the proprietary round it's chambered for sucks massive wieners.

I want a QBZ 97 from a Canadian

We get the carry handle ones too, or at least we did not too long ago.
I don't think of it at all.
I think it looks sick as hell and would get one if I could in spite of word that it's kind of shit

Has several interesting design features but the execution is mediocre (or so I've been told).
t. never been in the same room as one because I'm not a chinaman and/or leaf but have studied CAD models of it etc.
I admit I am curious how their firearms development is going and what will be exported. Not enough to buy but enough to look at least.
I want one so bad
Damn I'd like to clean her slide
Raymond is so lucky
world's best rifle
Why? both AR and AK are sorta stuck in the past with both system and ammo. AUG is OK but QBZ ammo is better and design more real world battle worthy.
Neat gun, I like the scope that fits on the rail.
Sadly I will never be an Pirate plundering Chinese vessels with my stolen QBZ in the south China sea.

I've no personal experience with them and have heard that the construction is kind of cheap, but I genuinely like how they look.
How is the LMG?
