QBZ 191

If you are an American, must know your enemy to effectively face him/her. The mainstream rifle of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army is the QBZ-191. It looks like a cross between a AK and an AR, with its silhouette resembling that of an HK-416. It's charging handle is on the side like an AK, and has the selector switch like an AR15. The QBZ-191 is chambered in 5.8x42, which the Chinese claim is superior to 5.56. This rifle has 2 other variants with different barrel lengths: the QBZ-192 and the QBU-191. Know your enemies weaponry.

I don't see how its important. Rifles are interchangeable, its not like there are major differences between an AR and a QBZ that will decide the outcome of a fight. When people say "know your enemy", they generally refer to their broad strategies and unit compositions and material shortcomings that you can play to your advantage; not vapid minutiae like what kind of fire selector your enemies rifle has.

Its basically just an upgraded HK416
Some chicanery inside with locking the bolt rotation, and potentially using a camming locking lug design for better extraction.
Otherwise, it's interchangeable with any intermediate caliber carbine.

      Also correct.
The only military with a shoulder rifle that actually matters right now, is the USA.
Because the XM7 is such a big divergence from the rest of the pack that it will have actual effects in firefights and tactics going into the future.

it remains to be seen whether the XM7 was even a good idea. None of our prospective enemies are currently issuing armor in any reasonable volume, the armor they do issue is mostly garbage and engagement range creep was an afghanistan/insurgency related issue that was better addressed with loitering munitions/small drones. No appreciable benefit in exchange for increased weight, less ammo.

They should have just bought some AR10s to avoid marines having to pull M14s out of storage in the event of another sandwar.

XM7 has practically zero advantage over the M4 against body armor. If anything, what you would want against body armor is an accurized M16 like the Mk12 SPR and to go for headshots.

1)The chinese have issued tenders to procure massive amounts of body armor
2)Increased armor penetration doesn't just improved performance against armor, it can penetrate metal and other forms of cover far better too

4)With the inevitable introduction of combat robots in the near future 5.56 just isn't going to cut it when dealing with them

1, 2) The XM7 was not designed to defeat armor, and without AP rounds it will do little against level 4 plates for instance. With AP cores, it wouldn't perform much better than existing ammo and platforms to justify its existence.

            3) Better enough to justify a whole nee round and gun that isn't even NATO spec?

            4) You're not using a rifle on imaginary combat robots anyways

            5) Agree but that goes for many guns

            6) Right, they both can't with standard FMJ. And they both can with AP ammo, why does this gun exist again?

            7) Which can also be used on other guns

            8) Does nothing 5.56 can't

            >Increased armor penetration doesn't just improved performance against armor, it can penetrate metal and other forms of cover far better too
Are you sure about that? Is there any public data regarding the terminal effects of any of the NGSW cartridges?

            >3)As a long range round, .277 Fury beats out 6.5 sneedmoor and .308 win for ballistic performance
Only from a fixed barrel length. Sneedmore has a longer, narrower projectile, which gives it a ballistic advantage. All .277 fury has going for it is chamber pressure and case capacity, it's like comparing 6.8 SPC to 6mm ARC.

            >5)Folding stocks are a nice thing to have when you're not using your weapon
Lots of ARs have folding stocks these days.

            >6)Saying that an M4 is relatively equal to an XM7 in defeating body armor is fricking laughable
They're both completely inadequate for defeating level 4 armor. That's as equal as it gets, 0=0.

            >7)The new fire control systems and suppressors sound neato
Not unique to the NGSW, No reason you couldn't field a comparable optic and suppressor on any other rifle.

            >8).277 fury probably rips holes through chinklets real good
Probably, but even 5.56 gets the job done.

XM7 is just a cope for the Army being too heavily loaded down with bullshit to move into position, so they can just hunker down and plink at baddies from 300+ yards away. It might work out because there's no competent militates left in the world, but it's a losing strategy against a force that can actually make use of combined arms to maneuver into position to use proper assault rifles.

Body armor isn't even that much of a tactical advantage in the first place, whoever gets hits on targets first almost always wins.

It looks like a HK416 first glance. But when you look for a while the differences are noticeable.
China has been copying military secrets for a while now, and they have come up with a rifle that is a blend of an AR and an AK. So it is likely that the 'slight' resemblance to an HK-416 is not an accident, as the HK-416 is a successful rifle that has proven itself on the battlefield.

Furniture and what specific CNC instructions are used to machine the metal doesn't matter much.
Its a 4 lug bolt head, combined with a generic short stroke gas piston + AR15 bolt carrier system. Bolt travels inside a buffer-tube in the stock.
Two odd ball bits, one, the trigger coming from an AK, probably to make it lower profile and make the receiver shorter. And two, using this claw to lock the cam pin in place instead of using the receiver wall like a standard AR pattern.

Seems breddy good to me as long as they can maintain build quality across their manufacturers, which historically is dubious. Also it doesn't just look like a crossbreed, it is one. Improved piston AR internals, AK trigger and charging, mixed ergonomics, integrated BUIS. Sounds like a winning combo to me

Lmao With most of the rounds tumbling as soon as they leave the muzzle, with the few rounds that actually flew straight missing the target, U.S soldiers and their allies don't need to fear getting in a modern gunfight against the Chinese. The Chinese switched to the QBZ-191 because of the poor functioning of their old bullpop rifles. Turns out the real problem is Chinese engineering. It's probably a combination of poor rifle quality and defective ammunition. But just because the video shows shit bullet groups and poor rifle quality doesn't mean that the U.S military just put their guard down. Expect the unexpected when all scenarios you trained for never happen in a future battle. The United States has the Chinese beat in terms of boots on the ground gunfighting, battle hardened from the global war on terror.
