Chances of an arsenal bird is in the negatives though unless we get a shield like it has
it's a massive investment rivaling an aircraft carrier, only has power to function because of a space elevators and microbeam lasers, can only take off in a specific location and might not be able to land, needs resupplies given from one specific location, and is vulnerable to one (one) phoenix
You may not get a shield but all the talk of using anti-drone/missile lasers as CIWS should be applied to bomber and drone motherships, those planes would have to deal with a thinner atmosphere to get their lasers working, too.
I think the power supply is the big issue with those things. That space elevator was collecting power from a ton of solar satellites, then beaming it over to the birds with a microwave beam. I don't remember if they state how long they can go without topping off at the tower, but the second one gets killed while charging iirc
yeah but that's if you have to go all out with power
From current demos, there are ground-based mobile batteries that can power a single laser CIWS, a C-130 sized transport plane using a BWB style body to have extra volume for storage should be able to carry more than enough battery to keep those lasers going for single operations
anime is gay
its a game shakespeare
Implying ace combat is not just Gundam with planes
oh it is. but still not anime. anyway can we talk about drones people?
You don't belong here.
Frick you, i like my plane anime
Bröthēr
SEX with YUKIKAZE
>the main character is an actual, honest-to-god autist who wants to have sex with his fighter jet (not even subtext)
Finally, a relateable character
They're already here. See: Loyal Wingman.
The future is unmanned doritos
What do fighter drones provide that missiles don't? It just seems like a waste of electronic parts to teach UCAVs how to kulbit.

Apart from the magic stuff it's just a mid air refuelling plane and they already exist

it doesn't really make sense without the magic
