All you can do is cope and tell yourself you're safe, if your plan is to coop up in some building and wait things out you're in for a rude awakening. Especially since raiders are going to be continuously learning new techniques while you just have to sit there hoping safety in numbers saves you from being targeted by an enemy using unexpected strategies.

You have to have a few good friends first of all, even if there is little contact for years. You have to agree to bury shit at a certain unobstructed location from time to time. You have to have a plan to meet at said location. It's that simple. Whoever shows up is now your new family. Congratulations, you are now the raiders

Probably not though, life isn't a video game and so it's normal to take a more cautious approach to things. It's basically a game of detecting activity like smelling for smoke of burning wood, lights at night, electricity usage using clamp on ammeters, things like this. Then scouting for defensive additions to buildings and cameras, usually works better at night because of the IR spotlights that you can see with night vision goggles. Then it's just a matter of devising the kill, maybe setting a fire to coax you into the open to be shot, or toxic gas injection, or a small IED of some type. Either way your shit is going to be mine and any weak individuals you're protecting will be enslaved.

No one is doubting that you have weapons you intend to use to murder families with. I'm doubting your juvenile sense of invincibility during prolonged raiding in a time where a lot of people are looking for excuses to die.

                Anonymous

No I know I'm not invincible, but I mean I have all this stuff, and basically sometimes I use it to steal stuff. The exhilaration of fleeing into the dark of the night with thousands of dollars of free shit is just so great feeling. Non-confrontation approaches are always best and lead to the greatest rewards with lowest risk I find, if you can just kill some preppers in their sleep without any drama that's obviously the ideal way to operate. It's going to be the coons pulling brainless home invasions that are going to be getting laid to rest for the most part.

    >Did I get memed into prepping?

does it matter? when electric power fails for weeks due to buttholes shooting insulators out, that will be enough to collapse society as gas stations cannot pump gas, pipelines cannot ship fuel, and semi trucks can't transport food from production and distribution facilities where in turn, major stores send their semi trucks to obtain food to restock stores.

at that point, the basketball americans naturally gather together as their usual highly-racist gangs and go house to house looting each prepper. because preppers aren't united (due to mutual distrust) to defend a neighborhood, all the houses are defeated one by one otherwise known as "defeat in detail".

so your prepping could end up mostly as prepping for the looters to loot once the grocery stores run out of loot

I mean, having a small stockpile in the event of a natural disaster in your area limiting electricity and utilities is a reasonable thing to do.

Now, actually thinking you need a personal sherman tank, bulletproof gear, full operator kit, and an atv with bug out locations you drill train on a monthly roation is just silly. Having a 'bugout' bag which is essentially just a way to evacuate quickly is also reasonable.

Prepping isn't crazy, but preppers take it too far into hobby cringe investing huge savings into things that won't matter or were never going to save them anyway.

Doomsday preppers was one of my favorite shows, because you can see the strain the person's psychosis put on their families, and the mental gymnastics of others to feel justified. This one b***h was hoarding insulin shots and burying them in mud thinking she'd preserve them for when the apocalypse happened because her fatass and her single mother daughter with a jayquan hand bag were both type whatever diabetics.

A week's worth of water and food, some guns and ammo, a backpack with some medical supplies, and semi-regular practice with basic survival techniques is all you're going to need. And most likely won't even need any of that. But when hurricanes not out the power grid for two weeks, it's nice stuff to have in the closet till things normalize.

Fallout isn't real life and if you're in an urban area, you're going to die regardless in any kind of coordinated attack.

Well our government just gunned down three preppers in their own home. No warrant, no charges, no knock.

The state maintains its power over the population by claiming a monopoly on essential services, from the state perspective preppers could support an entire community to defy the state and reject federal laws.

Having capacity IS a threat to the state, because making citizens dependent is the only way they stay in power

you prep because there are forces beyond your control. among them being food scarcity. the world is 3 days from empty shelves at all times due to the nature of the way the logistics work

  39. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

Not really. You're just using common sense, a thing that people started losing after the advent of the just in time system and grocery stores around every corner. But it also depends on your scale of prepping. You probably don't need an entire year's supply of food and other things, if not more, but there's no downside of having at least 1 month of various nonperishable supplies. At the very least you'll have food at home that you won't have to buy and you'll save some money due to inflation.

In November 2019, I accidentally overshopped on bulk packages toilet paper at a wholesale store. When the pandemic came & the TP shortage rolled into town, my dad & I were sitting pretty with over 60 rolls.

Prepping worked for me. Yesterday, I got another huge bag of rice, in case we do get a food shortage or hyper inflation.
