Radio will be the back bone of news and information after the bombs fall.
Who here part of the Ham radio master race?
Whats your setup?
What antenna would you run in a tight space for a multiband 80m to 10m frequencies? (horizontal run impossible, no tall trees either)
Smoke signals only.
If i told you, that you can transmit memes over the radio, would that change your mind? some clever hackers even found a way to manipulate their signal so the waterfall displayed le troll face
Sending a Image Over Ham Radio
even better example @23:24

What the frick is that thing?
A radio, sure, but it looks autistic as frick
Why is there two of them? Couldn't they just get one radio that does 2x the work of the one model they chose?
Why's it got a separate baseplate instead of just making the bottom of the main cube have feet
I'll just steal a radio during the bullshit, why waste my time and money right now
whatever you do, don't get multiple Quansheng UKV58s or set up off grid meshtastic nodes around your entire domain anons
NO NO NO DONT DO IT ANONS.
t. already got 2 coming in the mail
>buy chinese made radios
nah
>buy chinese made radios
Western brands love to OBEY THE FCC LAWS.
The chinks dont care. So you end up with a radio that can be unlocked to do a LOT MORE than even an expensive western brand.
Chinese radios are great until you get further into it and check out your spurious emissions. Baofeng need to update their marketing, no need to tune with our radios, Baofeng transmits on all the bands at once.
its worth the extra cash up front to get a decent radio. ive got 2 20 year old yeasu handies still running quite happily on their original battery. they are also unlocked and will transmit on any freq they can hear, though obviously it needs the right antenna to avoid fricking the things up
It can even unlock cars, play pong, send sstv messages, a spectrum analyzer
and send text to each etc. I predict it will outsell the baofeng uv5r and it's a lot cleaner on the airwaves too..
Same.
>Inb4 it's just like muh heckin flipper
Ok, fight it out
>Pls populate my Database with this specific Product, my fellow goyims
What are you implying
where can you even buy this thing?
Aliexpress
do you have a link I Google searched it and couldn't find anything thanks
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005747378093.html?
yep item cannot be found. The only radios I see are the UVK5 and UVK6. cannot find the Quansheng UKV58s.... Are the previously mentioned radios better? I remember a long time ago when I was a kid and my cousin who was definitely autistic was heavily into CV and ham radio. He had all sorts of fricking radios and when he'd come over on holidays he'd bring them with the antenna and we'd set it up in the backyard lol I don't know shit about these things
They constantly change the names, the one that says 20-1000mhz is probably the one but double check it has the specs you want and don't just trust the name
Amazon search for "UV-K5(8)" finds it in the USA.
I'm gonna be honest I've never really read into how radios even work even though I've always been curious.
im just starting to get into it too anon.
Ive used them in planes loads of times, but the actual art of LONG RANGE comms, and finding people all over the world, and tuning your antennas to achieve this is all new to me.
>Discone
I'll look into that, thanks.
Guess I'm gonna start binge reading wiki pages on the history of its discovery
they're usually just for use with a scanner. very basic antenna and not really all that good overall.
>With the portable HF radios, some are running on as little as 20 watts.
QRP sets generally put 5w out and you can talk to the world with that on the right band and antenna. Yeasu do the best radios in the this category.
That's why we've been screaming at you homosexuals to learn to radio for the past few years
You won't have a clue what bands to be listening to or what to, it's not hard to learn and it's fun.
I'm not a fan
Someone still needs to make 4ham, a message board updated by ham, probably borderline impossible but near enough would be good.
Remember anons if you don't have a radio atm you can play around with a webSDR here http://hackgreensdr.org:8901/
>Someone still needs to make 4ham, a message board updated by ham
WOW, great minds... i been thinking about that same thing
just purchased 4ham.org and hfchan.org
My thinking, basically make it an anonymous message board that can only be posted to over HF, but still viewable online. be a great place for people to drop news etc.
If I was still single without kids I'd do it but I've got no free time atm, there's a lot of design considerations with regards to the slow data rate of ham radio and the fact it would most likely be decentralized. It's doable in some shape or form but it needs a lot of considerate planning if it's not to be a steaming pile of shit.
Great work anon!

I am down to clown. Use PGP.
jerry is that you?
i lost contact with a couple Canadians years ago

Your future

Don't transmit from home. Don't keep a pattern. Reception is harder to detect.
Came Here to Post this
>Hurr, Just send really short Messages from repeaters
Already didn't work Out for German subs in ww2
>What about muh taliban
In Mountains you can do anything, besides thex also relied in couriers mostly
>Posted from iPhone
how tf do you use that website?
If you're not getting sound then try another browser or follow the instructions at the top, otherwise click 80m on the band and click about on the waterfall until you find something. Then play around and learn the settings, it's basically a digital radio attached to an antenna and you can use it like you were sat there yourself.
>As with the HF websdr, the chatbox has been removed due to inappropriate posts by certain individuals.
I don't want to say it was you guys but I'm fairly sure it was you guys
I'm willing to bet the posts were not inappropriate, were 100% factual in nature, and were constitutionally protected speech
also just use a Discone like a normal person
i have 2 diamond discones and im really not a big fan...they just dont hear very well. youre better off getting a dedicated antennas for whatever bands you listen/transmit on
yeah but if space is tight it is a lot better than nothing
a lot of anons don't have a bunch of cash. these things are cheap and disposable. nobody is saying they are going to replace a yaesu, an icom, or insert some boutique brand here. everything has its place anon, and when SHTF you may be thankful
its definitely better than nothing. my homebrew copper jpole blows it out of the water.
I made a jpole for 2m/144mhz out of a piece of twin lead. Works just fine for local/repeater use. I also have a 20M vertical which is just vertical copper pipe in sections fitted together. Radial field of about 32 radials made out of scrap copper wire scrounged for free. Worked all continents with it except Antartica. People will probably have to put some money into a transceiver, but you can make very useful antennas quite inexpensively.
Thus book is very anti-semetic.
yeah i love building my own antennas. got plans for a 20m and 10m moxon, also been searching for another used tower.
its a great book
can i use that thing to boost my wifi signal?
>"le radio master race"
>zog can listen in to everything you say
unless of course, im sending encrypted text over the radio waves, or even encrypted voice..
you'll be located within minutes and taken down violently under any and all anti-terror regulations available to your local police.
Nonsense, encrypted radio traffic is extremely common and legal, there's no reason why you would even be noticed.
>listening to propoganda and shills after the happening
I fail to see how that if internet goes out that the electricity won't go out as well. You won't have electricity for your fancy radio, putting up a solar panels and giving smoke signals from your gasifier will make you a target.
Most likely in the event of emergency, you will be needed on the front lines. If you cower into your bunker, then you will either need to build a community, or be killed by the chaotic roaming mobs.
With all the migrants there will most likely be well organized Muslim militias, chinese communist soldiers, and other terrorist sleeper cells waiting to raid major cities and take over food and production. They will be on the radios too, monitoring what you say and giving you propaganda.
With the portable HF radios, some are running on as little as 20 watts.
Your base station only uses 100 watts transmitting. idle watts would be 10 watts.
So with something like a 'Jackery' or 'Ecoflow delta' battery you could power it for a week without recharging. and be super easy to deploy some folding solar panels to recharge
What is a decent budget short wave radio? I don't want to talk to boomers over HAM. I'm only interested in hearing what is going on from other countries.
sdr
>What is a decent budget short wave radio? I don't want to talk to boomers over HAM.
this looks good, if <$500 is in your budget. Especially good because it supports external antennas. 1.711Mhz to 30Mhz, AM FM commercial radio, Aircraft Band 117-137Mhz
This thing is dirt cheap $55, but no external antenna, Only 4.75Mhz to 21.85Mhz (so missing 10m and CB radio bands), AM FM commercial radio, Airband
>posting my videos on a cambodian basket weaving image board
you people must really be hard up
Hes funny and even shits on reddit. i definitely suspect he visits "the chans"
don't say bad things about that funny man
he even put some * chirp * in his videos sometimes as a joke
he is based and pretty sure he comes here
he is an honorary aryan to me
Good morning all,
I recommend the boomer training:
Should you decide to do a PrepHole over the radio (legal or not). HF is for long distance. If it ever takes off, be sure to switch to VHF or UHF.
Checked. Whatever you pick make sure it has SSB and AM and it's probably a good one.
The Eton/Tecsun reciever is great. It has wonderfull alarm clock feature. I turned it on once by mistake without setting frequency so at 2 am in the morning it started emmiting static sound and I stood up sleepwalked to the closet and pissed inside, then I fully woke up. Nothing even remotely similar happened to me ever before.
Truly a wonderful experience.
Wtf is 4626
4625 kHz USB, famous soviet BWAAA BWAAA station
Name's someting like UVBWAAA76, 76 is the number of BWAAA's until next set of 76 BWAAA's starts.
>BWAAA BWAAA station
I still don't know what you're talking about
Just google UVB76.
Found it thanks
OOOOO CHIMPANZEEE THATTT ITS MONKEEY NEWSS
Any of you hamgays into cave radios and earth antennas?
https://bcra.org.uk/creg/heyphone/
No seems cool though, I wonder how much power you'd need to send a message to the other side of the world using it
https://sites.google.com/site/sub9khz/vlf-using-earth-mode
https://g3xbm-qrp.blogspot.com/2024/03/630m-qrp-wspr-overnight_31.html
Very low frequency (VLF) enthusiast Joe Craig, VO1NA, reports that Stefan Schaefer, DK7FC, copied his 50-character message transmitted from Newfoundland on 8.271 kHz, with a radiated power of 10 mW.
“This is a new record for amateur transatlantic VLF,” Craig told ARRL. “The mode used was EbNaut by Paul Nicholson. EbNaut is a synchronous coherent BPSK mode for use at VLF and low LF. Craig’s tower supports a VLF RL (rotated L) 10-meter (33 feet) average height and 100 meters (328 feet) long. VLF is the ITU designation for radio spectrum in the range of 3 – 30 kHz, corresponding to wavelengths from 100 to 10 kilometers, respectively.
“Since VLF waves can penetrate at least 40 meters (131 feet) into saltwater, they are used for military communication with submarines,” Craig noted.
>Who here part of the Ham radio master race?
I was. Got my Novice license. Start listening to code. Old men talking about their prostate problems. You can only talk weather, radio data, and mindless shit-chat.
>Whats your setup?
Used. Got it from an old guy who upgraded and sold me his trash for cheap. I was cheated.
>What antenna would you run in a tight space for a multiband 80m to 10m frequencies?
HAHAHAHAHHAHAH!
>Radio will be the back bone of news and information after the bombs fall.
Radio antennas are more at risk of EMP destruction than any solid state electronics
lol "radio" coms.
those still living by flesh will buy tech to receive coms.
those that live by the spirit will receive their info from the aether.
primitive sino-tech apes btfo
I send encrypted pgp messages over encrypted business bands and federal government can't stop me.
Shame about all those auto self bricking Chinese radios eh?
>not a single baofeng uv-5r
You guys suck.
Someone posted something that has bigger frequency ranges
10-1300mhz
Why would you need that? Lets be honest, all you need is team comms.
Not when you're the sole survivor
>Why would you need that?
because ZOG uses higher freqs than a shitty uv5r
I can read signal lamps with my eyes.
>Someone posted something that has bigger frequency ranges
>10-1300mhz
Quansheng with custom made software is doing the job
I have a Sangean ATS-909X. I listened to shortwave stations for a week or so until I got bored with it.
THIS IS AN AD. DO NOT REPLY. THE PERSON MAKES A POST LIKE THIS, AND RIGHT UNDERNEATH THERE'S A REPLY PROMOTING A RADIO BRAND. REPORT THIS POST AND GET IT TAKEN DOWN.

>caring about current events post nuclear hell fire
You're not going to make it.
small think
I have a poufung/baofeng GT-1 and UV-5R, and I know how to use CHIRPS. I only ever frick around on FRS, but support the hobbyists that set up repeaters and test antennas by bumping your thread.
To the lurkers: get a cheap radio and learn the basics. The homosexuals saying you're going to get arrested are full of shit shills. FCC allows unlicensed operators to broadcast for emergencies. You can listen completely legally.
HAM radio. AKA discord meets reddit. The original OG nerds. No thank you.
>Whats your setup?
Triangulation gear + mines and silenced rifle.
