What an odd looking drone, it looks like a Reaper drone but the propeller is on the wrong side and they shoved a couple of guys in there for some reason.

Why did America retire the Skyraider instead of modernizing it?

The A4 is sexy asf and is still a capable airframe, all it needs is a full on remodernisation and it would be a better plane than any thing Embraer could make

Probably for cheap force projection into their former colonies:

Full video has one guy running a Walther P-38 which is still the standard issue sidearm of the Portuguese army (though Glocks were purchased).

That's cool though, but for COIN nowadays, Humvees are deathtraps, might as well either use a full-on APC or MRAP.

I still get shit for this from my friends to this very day, whenever the use of drones is brought up and I mention some shit that's been put to use. Well deserved too I suppose.
In a slightly related note, and since I don't know much about the Super Tucano or similar planes. Would these have any use case for maritime patrols or operations where it would be a better choice than other airfract? Drones included. Portugal and Spain have its fair share of issues with drug trade but I doubt I'd ever see these being useful in that scenario in the way a drone wouldn't be.

This deal is more about Embraer wanting to use Portugal as a "base" to offer their products to NATO countries.

Well I don't doubt that in the slightest. I was mostly hoping we'd get some mileage out of it asides from the potential for thankless COIN. I guess it's not a bad thing either way.
