I calculated this for my own autism but I decided to share. Currently Poland has:
>15 K2
>105 Leopards 2a5
>83 Leopards 2a4
>45 leopards 2pl
Some T-72 and PT-91 are left but how many is mosty speculation, probably two battalions worth at most when counting fully operational tanks.
So this gives 165 modern tanks or 248 with Leos 2a4 which are becoming dated by now but considering what Russia is fielding are still adequate.
Polish tank battalion has 58 tanks. Considering the announced delivery schedules this is what the situation will likely look like around middle of the 2023 and 2024.
2023
>Leopard 2a5 - 2 battalions
>Leopard 2pl - almost 1 battalion
>Leopard 2a4 - 1.4 battalion
>Pt-91 - ???
>T-72 - ???
2024:
>Leopard 2a5 - 2 battalions
>Leopard 2pl - 1 battalion
>Leopard 2a4 - 1 battalion
>K2 - 1 battalion
>M1A1 FEP - 2 battalions
M1A1 FEP will not be a standard US FEP configuration after the modifications are completed but there is no official designation and I'm not calling it FEP PL.
So to summarize at this moment the tank situation is shit with a lot of the post-soviet tanks gone to Ukraine. Things will be back to pre 2022 status when it comes to overall capability when considering quality vs quantity and not just numbers. I pity the logisticians.
Things will be back to pre 2022 status by mid 2024
It's K2PL
No it's not, it's basic K2 with some Polish electronics added (green stuff on the right).
True configuration of K2PL is not yet known and production of K2PL variant is to start from 2026.
I think it's safe to say that K2PL won't have the elongated hull, which imo was the most important change, because it would allow for separating the ammo storage from the crew compartment. Other than that, I'm happy with us choosing K2.
>separating the ammo storage
Elongation of body has nothing to do with an isolated ammo rack.
It quite literally was the reason for the elongation.
It was to make space for the ammo isolation.
How is that even supposed to work? Blowout on the glacis so you get a massive weakening in the front armor? In the floor so you get one insane weakening towards mine strike? To the side just for the lulz? Its not 4-6 rounds lile on the OG Abrams, its 25 rounds that you need to deflect
The ammo were supposed to be between the crew and engine comparments, with the blowout panels facing outwards.
>It quite literally was the reason for the elongation.
No, it wasn't. The only reason behind the 7 wheel configuration is that it allows an increase in max weight.
There isn't going to be a big difference as the Polish military is opting for the same configuration as K2ME, a normal K2 with better survivability for K2PL.
You're not taking into account M1A2 SEPv3s and almost all M1A1s are scheduled for this year.
Sure it's shit now but it's going to get better eventually.
Deliveries of M1A2 sepV3 will begin in 2025, M1A1 will be mostly delivered in the second half of 2023 and beginning of 2024.
I wrote it's shit at the moment and not overall. The near future looks good. From second half of 2024 the overall capability will start improving compared to the beginning of 2022 before deliveries to Ukraine began.
Actually all 116 M1A1 will be delivered this year according to the recently annouced delivery schedule.
In the last sentence it's meant to be February 2024.
>In Wesoła
Frick yes, i was waiting for this specific information. I might be able to see those beasts in person.
All 2a4 are already contracted to be upgraded to 2PL which is a budget modernization compared to what you posted
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard_2PL
The deliveries just take forever around 1.5 tanks a month.
excuse me
*clears throat*
tolish pank
Thx for your autism and data anon. I was thinking of doing the same thing. Now don't have to :p
Now do the Indian Air Force.
sir india arforce is best in world no math needed
worked pretty good against the Pakis
There are hundreds of NATO tanks stationed in Poland right now.
Their only legitimate short term land threat just pissed away the majority of their modern tank forces.
We might end up with more tanks than Russia by the end of this war.
what's wrong with t55 you russophobe
NTA but we had thousands of t55 merida in the 90's in Poland and sold all of them for scrap. You can buy them even now from private owners, but they are probably demilitarized and can't shoot.
Are the M1A1s given to them upgraded at all? What disadvantages does an M1A1 have when you compare it with an M1A2SEPv3?
Bolan thread?
Bolan thread.
>I pity the logisticians.
You do realize that as soon as M1A2s start coming in, the leos will be mysteriously appearing near the border empty and with keys in the ignition?
Consider that leopards 2a4 are all contracted for modernization, 2a5 are the most modern tanks operated in considerable numbers and there are simple no more leos to spare. Maybe 12 could be spared but no more. Remaining PT-91 will go first anyway.
This dark almost black green would look great as a base color for tricolor. Dark green instead of green, lighter green instead of black, brown can stay.
>Dmitry Medvedev has claimed that Poland would cease to exist if a direct war were to occur between Russia and NATO, regardless of the outcome.
>Considering Poland’s role as a NATO outpost in Europe, this country is sure to disappear.
Whatever hardware Poland has doesn't really matter, Medvedev promised Poland will be first thing that gets erased from the face of the earth in case of direct russia & HATO conflict so why bother.
>Dmitry Medvedev
Mixed Abrams and Leopard tank units could be a thing
