The launchers are fairly cheap. They're just mounts that hold missiles, and can be told to point them in vaguely the right direction. It's the missiles that are expensive (over $1 million apiece).
Aside from the missiles, the expensive parts of the battery are the radar and the command station, which have most of the sophisticated electronics. The heavyweight Russian SAMs are roughly the same; the radar, command vehicle, and missiles are expensive, while the launching vehicles themselves are not.
Now, for a medium mobile SAM that includes multiple functions within the same vehicle (e.g., Buk), yes, the launcher costs a lot; again, because it contains the radar and the command and control computers.
For Patriot? To stop TBM attacks, which would be the first thing Russia would do in a war against NATO. If you can keep your established HQs safe and your chains of command functional you'll be a lot more effective than otherwise. It also helps take some of the load off of the air force, since they don't need to operate 24/7 CAPs in case someone fires cruise missiles.
This mentality is why the US is so far ahead. We took what the Soviets said they could do at face value, rather than what they could actually do. Prepare for the best enemy you think you can face. Then you’ll be ahead when you fight the real one

Dozens systems Poland has does not cut it where saturation attacks of hundreds missiles are concerned,
for sustained conflict where Russia can use only what it currently produces it would maybe be enough but they will save at least thousands of missiles before they attack again.

its still numbers game - 64 launchers is 8 batteries - enough to defend Warsaw and maybe 2-3 bigger cites or few industrial complexes - and that's it - its not magic it will have higher hit ratio than Russian systems but it wont be able to stop mass attack - patriot battery can engage 5 targets at given time - so for 8 batteries it would mean that Russia launching 41 missiles would overwhelm our defences...

The launchers are fairly cheap. They're just mounts that hold missiles, and can be told to point them in vaguely the right direction. It's the missiles that are expensive (over $1 million apiece).
Aside from the missiles, the expensive parts of the battery are the radar and the command station, which have most of the sophisticated electronics. The heavyweight Russian SAMs are roughly the same; the radar, command vehicle, and missiles are expensive, while the launching vehicles themselves are not.
Now, for a medium mobile SAM that includes multiple functions within the same vehicle (e.g., Buk), yes, the launcher costs a lot; again, because it contains the radar and the command and control computers.

If you can keep your established HQs safe and your chains of command functional you'll be a lot more effective than otherwise. It also helps take some of the load off of the air force, since they don't need to operate 24/7 CAPs in case someone fires cruise missiles.
It's an arms race until your opponent is dead anon. You don't just stop running and let your opponent catch up.
