Pistol Braces

Should I start submitting Form 1 applications since the ATF is going to frick everyone’s shit up in August? I have 4 AR’s with SBA3 braces. Not looking forward to paying $800 in tax or becoming a felon

If you actually wanna comply you need to remove your iron sights, replace your buffer tubes with plain featureless ones and remove any lights or angled fore grips. What you are left with is essentially a bare bones ar pistol with a red dot which is what they were pre brace introduction which is what the atf wanted all along. It's gay and it's stupid but at least you still have something semi usable

I put time in trying to understand the work sheet myself and my understanding was yes. Even having an optic adds points though so I'm being generous. Everyone should look at the atf brace worksheet themselves. It really wants you to make a mistake

Maybe this will drive people to make AR U notch sights, which are superior on a rifle anyways.

The worksheet has been out for months, but in August is when they plan to "enforce" it. And by enforce they mean for gun ranges to enforce it otherwise they'll get harassed.
      Shoot innawoods? Law doesn't matter.
Shoot at a range? Expect some boomer to tell you to show tax stamp or get kicked out.

Or if you get pulled over and they find it in your car. Or someone rats you out

          Anonymous

I'm worried about the whole someone rats you situation as with the new red flags laws and boyfriend loophole laws that just passed, it's much easier for someone who doesn't like you to mess up your life especially if they find a brace on your gun that they now consider an sbr. Sucks if you have any ex's or less than friendly neighbors that want to screw you over

            Anonymous

Unless your state already has red flag laws you are pretty safe. The new law gives incentives to states who want to enact them. It doesn't actually instate any kind of red flag law on the states itself.

There are plenty of 2A sanctuary states/counties/cities that won't enforce anything. Being denied at a range is really the most likely thing.

no it doesn't apply to rifles with a legal 16" barrel length.

Pinning a muzzle device to a barrel by atf definition makes it part of the barrels legally applicable length. Your 14.5 with 1.5-2" muzzle device is still a rifle the atf has held no desire to change this

          Anonymous

A 14.5 with a properly pinned and welded muzzle device bringing it to 16+" is considered a rifle, and you can have a normal stock or whatever.
Also a 14.5 AR could have a pistol brace, with any attachments you want(aside from VFG), as it would have an OAL of more than 26"

So if I am following you correctly as long as your collapsed OAL is greater than 26" then you can skip this sheet AND use a brace?

No, it's the opposite. The ATF thinks that if your gun is over 26" OAL, it's too long to use one-handed with a brace, therefore you intend to use it with two hands, making the weapon an unregistered SBR, and that if it's under 12" OAL then it's short enough to use with one hand without a brace, meaning you only have the brace because you want to make an unregistered SBR. Same with the weight, it has to be heavy enough that you "need" a brace, but not so heavy that the ATF thinks you plan on using it with two hands.

          Anonymous

          >making the weapon an unregistered SBR
Can you provide a source which substantiates that reading? What anons are referring to is a new point system, which is the means by which the ATF plans on banning braces, and which only applies to guns below 26" OAL

Please tell me where it states a failure of a prerequisite is a fail. It says nowhere on the sheet that a weapon is a "failure" if it does not pass section 1. I think they may be playing themselves with their own wording here. Don't move on to section 2? NOT SBR

If you're really building for SHTF forget guns and study IED construction. You need zero illegal items in advance to build them nor special tools nor some homosexual fantasy book collection.

The winners in long constabulary operations like A-stan esplode their problems. Knowing how is identical to knowing how to detect and disarm IEDs (an even more potentially useful skill).

20yrs and the ATF is notorious for trying to get all the records they can. Also if the business closes inside of 20yrs ATF usually ends up with the whole stash as otherwise the owner has to maintain it for the remainder. They then convert it to micro film and store it internally waiting for the day a national electronically searchable gun registry is legalized at which point they will digitize it. No im not kidding, thats the standard operating procedure.

I don't want the NFA overturned.

My collection is worth almost $12 million and it only cost about 7 grand back in '81-'83 (a lot more in those days, but still)

Every election I vote D down ticket hoping they do ban "assault weapons" since that just appreciates the value of my transferables. I don't really even have to work ever again.

boomers talk big like this but the sandcastles they built 50 years ago weren't even structurally sound and they've definitely eroded by now

there was a period of time when a boomer with a transferable full auto ar-15 lower was a cool guy who could impress people but now they're sitting in a gun shop with a six figure price tag on it while selling binary triggers to millenials and because the price tag of their 'investments' is going up they don't see a relationship between selling ersatz full auto guns and their investments losing value

if you reduce demand the price of things goes up, it's basic economics

Transferable FA guns are for dumb goys.

i mean the whole story of the baby boomers is a bunch of people who have doubled down on being dumb goys so hard that they managed to convince their children to do the same thing even though all of the benefits they reaped by being dumb Black person cattle dried up before vietnam

yesterday at a gun show i was trying to buy a box of weird ammo and had to rudely interrupt a guy with a vietnam hat who was taking up the salesmans time. he wasn't even buying anything he was puffing up his own gun shop and how much profit he makes from buying ammo from other gun shops and selling them to people in his hometown for 170% markup. It was like that flying lotus copypasta except im the one trying to buy something and there's some moron trying to draw attention to how successful he is by... doing the exact same thing i'm doing right next to him.

I don’t believe that guy is really who he says he is. Shelling out 7k in the early 80s means hes 70 at the absolute youngest, and he types too much like a non-boomer. Most likely bait.

      Then you die.

Your collection goes either goes to probate court, it's seized because of the ATF and other government agencies need to check the "legitimacy" of it before it is transferred, or your worthless progeny sells it off for single digit percentiles of what they were bought for.

Assets mean nothing if you cannot assuredly liquidate them. Something boomers rarely grasp until the numbing touch of death is upon them.

How can the ATF just make a ruling? I'm building my very first pistol. Do I really have to care about this crap?

They can't. All these morons have forgotten that the 9th circuit just solidified the fact that agencies cannot make rulings and must stick to the Congress agreed definitions but of course /k/ has the memory of a goldfish. Not to mention they've thrown this garbage letter out already and this whole thread was bait for (you)'s

I'm not gonna comply with that gay shit. #1 the SEC ruling the other day showed that administrative Law is unconstitutional and the SC ruling will make any test cases challenging this force the ATF to find text and tradition to uphold this shit. It's another game of chicken like the vax mandate. I do not consent to enforcement uf unconstitutional laws and I will ignore them with impunity.

I swear to God if this becomes a law I'm going to take my only pistol lower and rack up the highest score I can. Because frick 'em, that's why.

According to the work sheet you can still have an "illegal SBR" even if you have a smooth pistol buffer tube and no brace on the gun

The main thing is that people need to reconsider the kind of information they post online. If you have something that might be questionable, keep that shit to yourself. Don't post it here or anywhere else. Don't fricking talk about it.

I don't know how many morons I've seen on YouTube talking about braces making these unfunny little jokes about being clumsy and "accidentally" shouldering their brace, then literally showing themselves shooting without any hint of effort to use the brace as anything but a stock. It makes the firearms community look like immature douchebags and it undermines people who work very hard to show the fact that most gun owners are decent, law-abiding people.

Do whatever the frick you want, but if you don't want agents kicking down your door, learn to keep your mouth shut.

What you're seeing is a bunch of reasonable people saying the buck stops here and adopting mass noncompliance. That's what won the war on drugs. Doing everything a government tells you to has never been the route towards getting your rights back.
