Is there going to be another naval arms race in South America? How can we profit from this?

Organize a privateer fleet and raid Chinese fishing vessels under sanction from South American nations.

Chinese fishing vessels are pretty much the only thing the Peruvian Navy has to combat, so something like this is just fine.

          Medicinal purposes

Mostly this, the rest is basically dick measuring...

Or maybe the entirety of LATAM (minus Bolivia and Venezuela but who cares about them) are secretly in league with US to ensure in case of a nuclear war all the refugees could escape there, rumours of anti-ballistic laser batteries hidden on pre-columbian ruins haven't been confirmed.

Argentina has already sunk one of its ships and the Chinese did nothing because, to no one's surprise, they lie about their presence in other countries' waters

No, everyone in South America gets along besides Venezuela.

I still feel sorry about them, but we all know who is behind this, as ever, TZD.

None, it would force them all to cut it out. In the odd chance that the U.S. decided to not intervene even diplomatically, Chile would trash them all simultaneously as Bolivia and Peru are still using soviet trash and Argentina has only four serviceable aircraft from the 60s, an "MBT" based on an IFV chassis from the 80s that can't survive fire from a HMG, with no E.R.A., no cooled thermals, etc.

It would be a one day shitshow with predictable results.

It really depends, if Chile just opts for a defensive war it may end up winning relatively easy as the current countries mentioned effectively don't have too much offensive capabilities, the problem will be to move on an actual counter-offensive, they simply don't have the military resources to simultaneously take on the 3 of them, at best Chile may be capable to pull a 1948 victory, where it manages to occupy some territories and establish some strong defensive lines while forcing everyone to sit down and negotiate.

On the other hand punching to Buenos Aires, La Paz and Lima may end up in another "Kiev feint", where chileans get bogged down, ambushed at the Andes and eventually routed, a more steady offensive may still mean having to call for further mobilizations to keep the momentum as all the other countries start pouring more and more of their own manpower and recall forces from their other borders in order to grind down the chilean army.

By the way, not sure if other countries may attempt their own opportunistic attacks, I heard Ecuador is still sore about the Cenepa War and Brazil may see a chance to take some buffer regions, but again, the biggest chance is they all are called down and a few tens of square kms change hands at worst.

    >landing ships
Chile has 4,000 miles of coastline and averages 100 miles in width.
I wonder why Peru needs landing ships?

      >I wonder why Peru needs landing ships?
Peruvians are like russians, everything is a constant dick measuring contest, there's an old video of a former peruvian navy admiral complaining that if the chileans have 300 tanks, peru should have 600, if the chileans have 8 frigates, peru should have 16 frigates because if peru raises one eyebrow, everyone will understand, now, guess which south american country is building 4 shiny brand new landing ships 😉

To supply their islands, territories with poor road connection deep down south and antarctic bases during summer, they can be used as mobile hospitals in case of disaster and to conduct amphibious operations in case of conflict

I mean, Peru has 1500+ miles of coastline, its capital is on the coast even and it has multiple major ports with many coastal cities only connected by the Pan American highway, which in some places is still a two lane road. Or, this, I guess
