People claim that the drone problem can easily be dealt with by giving each squad a jammer. But wouldn't that make them shine like a Christmas tree to enemy ELINT?

You wouldn't need to give one to each squad though. They could easily be a platoon or even a company level asset. Consider that the 60mm mortars the US uses at the company level to provide fire support to the whole company only have a maximum effective range of 2 miles, and companies normally stick much closer together than that.
just make the jammer so powerful it blacks out a really big area like a 100 sqkm2
>big jammer
>heavy
>can't move
>jammer is kill
it could be a few guys on woodsbuggies with rocket boys, riding hell for leather in criss cross patterns.
set all cell towers to go wide band blizzard. ham radio teaches you to do the opposite. god alone knows how much old radio command trukkz and trailers they got ready to be scrapped thats perfect for this shit.
So just give everyone cancer?
pic related
>can no longer communicate with anyone in a 100km radius due total airwave blackout
set up an Ethernet cable for the rear lines and portable directional laser based coms for the front
we WWI now
Pigeons man
Will a man portable jammer even interfere with a drone that's 200m above or a drone that's watching 800m across a field or forest?
>can easily be dealt with by giving each squad a jammer.
Lmao.
Cancer aside, russia already puts a shitton of EW onto the battlefield, but it just doesn't help enough. There's a lot of methods to counter it, from shielding, to catching drone with a fishing rod, to developing an innate arcane sense that would help you avoid especially heavy EW-saturated zones. All the shitload of drone footage you see was recorded AFTER 2/3 of drones been lost to EW and shorad, drones are just that massed.
You always want layered solutions in multiple spectrums. Basically, throw spaghetti at it until it stops being a problem.
>Visual
Camo, movement, cover, concealment, mechanized protection, all that jazz.
>Kinetic
A2A solutions include your own drone missile trucks. Surface to air solutions include small arms all the way up to dedicated heavy vehicles, and everything in between, including CRAM in trenches.
>Radio
Jamming is one option, as is finding the transmission source and deleting it. You can have fancy backpacks, vehicle borne units, airborne units, whatever.
>IR
NIR gear, optics-seeking-laser-dazzlers are an option here, as are laser weapons, maybe some IRCM shenanigans.
>Strategic
Bomb the frick out whatever factory produces them. Bomb the frick out of every truck that carries them, every road those trucks run on, every known control station.
If you can't beat them join them
This is awfully similar to the original concept of the Manhack arcade in Half-Life 2's beta
Keep the jammers on vehicles to defend critical areas and give each squad a shotgun for point defense.
Modern Western jammers don't shine on all frequencies or all the time. They silently listen for enemy transmissions to start, jam the rest of it before the data gets through, then go dormant again.
Would it not just be easier to have local CIWS, I cannot thing of an easier thing to hit then a drone, these things can hit mortars coming into a FOB they should be able to hit a drone easily. You could make a smaller portable one that sits on a armored vehicle or truck for drone defense.
the jammer doesn't need to be strong as long you know the right frequencies
When thread like this that is a bit more technical pops up you can see how moronic and low iq posters here really are.
Saddest shit of it all is that I ended up here with you losers.
If you're getting droned your position is compromised anyway.
Directed energy weapons would work better.
>OMG anon directed energy such big brains you're a conspiracy theorist for bringing up directed energy.
Use a cone antenna hot glued to a shitty gun shaped thingy and the "trigger" is just the transmit PTT. No need to glow in the dark. Point at drone, fire unless you really want to glow in the dark and are too moronic to look up when you hear the loud high pitched whirring of an RC toy from Chinkazon.
Russian version will be $50 at most
American version will be $20k minimum with upgrade packages available pre-order only with battlepass included.
Oh yea. Forgot that you can probably just use a regular ass radio for this. instead of a portable server rack. Less juice required if it's directed energy.
