Paint Patches

I have recently sewn a bunch of handmade patches to my jacket, and as expecting the acrylic paint used isn't very resistant (I do not wear it in the rain of course). I was wondering if anyone had any tips to make them a bit stronger, like maybe painting over with clear glue perhaps? Something to seal them against the elements?

Should have used fabric paint/ink the first time around. Now you have to remove your cheap acrylic crap else the proper paint may not adhere.

I’ve never heard of a clear fabric sealant for painted designs.

Also this. go to Joannes fabrics and buy a variety colour pack of fabric paint for 10$ and throw it in the drier.

Hair style aside, I just hate how organized your shit is. If you're going to make a punk jacket, you dont line things up like that, looks fricking lame.

I think it looks good OP. Frick the haters. PrepHole is literally the last place that should be giving you fashion advice. Even PrepHole meetups are embarrassing and they're supposed to be the best at it. PrepHole is probably much worse.

I think you'll have to buy custom patches of your designs to get true longevity. Clear coat might crack and look worse over time. You can find custom patch stores all over the internet and etsy. Embroidered and sewn on is the way to go. good luck brother.

Jacquard textile paint might have a clear product that would remain flexible and protect at the same time. Or a similar brand.

Angelus leather paint, paint directly on the denim, don't be a coward, and if you *really* have to paint your shit design on another scrap of fabric just to get it perfect, learn to sew better. I could get my pinky in those fricking godawful stitches.

Not even judging the patch aesthetician, bro. I do it, I do my own, too. I embroider, paint, and stitch together random crap all the time. What you're lacking is pride and confidence. You take to this shit like an PrepHole robot trying to talk to a naked and willing hot ass virgin, when you *should* just stick your dick in and worry about the details later.
Paint *ON* the denim. Don't be a pussy, the scrap fabric looks weird, and shows lack of commitment. The stitches look temporary with how shitty they are. People are gonna look at that and think "damn, does this kis even know who KISS are?"
You look like a poser with all these homemade patches and refusal to just paint directly on a chap ass denim jacket.

When you buy a patch at a show I guarantee it has been screen printed or embroidered. Both of those see fairly entry level hobbies with to s of resources online to help you.
You're using the wrong tool for the job. If you insist on doing shit free hand at least get a fabric paint not acrylic.

Looks good OP. Daughter has similar jacket, but patches were embroidered.
If you don't wash coat often and it doesn't get wet they'll last longer than you will.
Acrylics are fine, even cheap ones. You want to heat set them, which is easier with a heat press but basically put a press cloth over them and press at high/Cotton heat no steam for 60 seconds or so. It helps the paint bond w/ material. They will fade over time, but given yours are painted on... that's a lot of paint to chip off.
They make airbrush acrylics for this sort of work that are sealed as specified above. I have a set of them; can't recall the brand but you can search it up.

You look a bit old for a jacket like that. Maybe try imagining that you're not 13.
