How do you anons cope with it? I have astigmatism, and I can't see clearly more than a foot in front of my face without glasses. Needless to say it makes shooting guns more difficult.

This, plus look into eye pro with the derpy inserts or prescription sunglasses. I still have a pair of eye pro with inserts from the military and they come in handy every now and again.
This too
Go have a surgeon implant some laser eyes if you hate glasses so much.
Isn't it like $6k to do LASIK or whatever?
It's way cheaper than that now. Long term, laser eyes are cheaper than glasses.
If you're under 30 don't do it, you will be using glasses when you reach that age, use lens for now and after your eyes stabilize, get the laser
This right here ^
I spent about 8k in 2013 for Lasik because i wanted to be a no glasses chad at 23 and 9 years later i am back to wearing glasses.
I am 33 and my prescription hasn't changed in two or three years fwiw.
I'm holding off on getting it done until my late 40s my fiance loves me in glasses and i kind of like having transition lenses so i don't have to carry sunglasses all year.
Lasik yeah, barely anybody does that anymore except those shitty strip mall ones next to the doughnut shop and tax office. PRK and whatever new one they have out now will last you forever. You'll need readers when you're older because they can't stop aging, but your eye is developed enough by your mid twenties.
I wore glasses and contacts for the majority of my life until getting Lasik a couple weeks ago. It lived up to the hype and I would recommend it if you can afford it and take the recovery seriously. I drove myself to the day-after post-op exam. It was the first time I'd ever operated a car without visual aid. Magical stuff.
$4k per eye for the best surgeon I could find who'd done this thousands of times over 2 decades, and that covered everything except the eyedrops used during the recovery, which is negligible with insurance.
You can go as low as $1500 for both eyes from what I heard, but sight is too important to skimp on.
As far as guns go, ironically one of my first acts when I decided to do it was to buy shooting glasses. I'll finally need eyepro.
Work with the cards you have, not the ones you want, anon.
i git gud'd homosexual
Sign up for experimental cyborg eye surgery, mount an eye on your gun and bore sight it. Walk into a mall and look at a cashier.
just reroll bro
>make an off-topic thread asking for advice
>disguise it as on-topic with some gun talk
>receive actual good advice
huh
Now keep that in mind before you make another "which brand of glock should I buy to kill myself" thread.
>thought I could be a military pilot, or some similar cool shit like space system ops
>vision is garbage with astigmatism, it’s so bad before correction that it’s disqualifying
>failed color vision test at MEPS as well
>also disqualifies me from special warfare opportunities
>limited to IT and intel now
Don’t even know if I want to join now.
My buddy went in as an intel analyst and somehow still saw combat. Plus there are still decent benefits if you arnt already financially stable

While eyesight is partly genetics it's also your childhood and teenage lifestyle.
Many studies show that getting enough sunlight in childhood is vital for good eyesight. Sitting in front of a screen, book, or blackboard for multiple hours without changing the focal length is terrible.
90 percent of students in Singapore need Glases. That can't be explained by genetics, but by the highly competitive nature of education in Singapore.
If (you) ever get children make sure they get enough sunlight and play outside a lot.
t. Anon who applied for military service but was denied infantry positions because I failed my eyesight test
>reading books literally saved my life, so make sure to not let your kids read
Maybe not going into the military saved my life, but I don't think people should break their legs so they can't join.
People with bad eyesight are disabled by definition.
I never said you shouldn't read books, you just shouldn't stare at books for hours on end.
So you're saying if I want a qt meganekko gf hit up singla? But they're too tanned, I want a creamy white skinned asian girl.
Either I played too much Pokémon as a kid or I stared at the sun for too long.
On a scale from 1-10 how close do you resemble these men?
Just think about it this way anon. Teddy Roosevelt was a cowboy, charged up San Juan Hill, killed all sorts of dangerous game, and just generally did cool guy shit. His eyes were fricked up too, and he had to deal with those shitty glasses they had in the 1800s. If he can do it you can do it.
Also, I wear glasses too and I've never had an issue shooting and my eyesight is as bad as you describe yours.
This. You can get prescription glasses with a sturdier frame for sports, look around.
That's an old meme, new research suggests myopia is caused by not getting enough UV radiation in the eyes, which simply correlates with reading too many books while inside.
I have double astigmatism. Shit sucks, mainly lights at night tho. I’ve always been a meh shooter so whatever lmao
Advice for glasses wearing anons, if you want to get extra frames for your car or BoB, Etc. try out Zenni optical. I can not attest for the durability of their frames/lenses, but they are cheap as hell.
I use it to justify Schmidt&Bender and Hensoldt optics.
Just wear contacts and get a cheap Turkish eye surgery at age 30 or whenever your eyesight stabilizes.
I have some bad astigmatism but I don't even notice it outside of my home.
Fellow megane here
No idea how bad your sight is, anon, but what I do at the range is I bought these large eyepro goggle things from Home Depot like the ones construction workers wear and I wear them over my actual glasses at the range. It's a bit of a b***h because they're kinda bulky and kind of get in the way a bit when I'm aiming down on a gun with a stock on it, but it gets the job done.
I was considering just using contacts but I heard they can melt or something, don't take my word for it though, might want to ask about it first.
Weirdly enough, when I went to an indoor range for the first time, they let me in without having to bring eyepro, saying my prescription glasses were good enough. Not taking any chances though
you might get perfect vision in the next life
>OP thinks he has it hard
>glasses work for his condition
My right eye is fricked with 20/200 vision because of an irreparable neural defect in the optic nerve
