But why would he need to be looking for barrier troops? Those only exist behind russian lines, and Russia is losing.

I'm interested to see how these do against shells, a thick cast case combined with spin stabilization means the laser has a lot of metal to cut through or a lot of thermal mass to heat to cause it to detonate in the air.
I honestly think they'll be great against slow plastic drones and pretty shit against arty.

5 drones flew into the South. 0 were shot down and South Korea lost a light attack trainer in a crash while trying to intercept.

How fricking bad do you have to be to have a negative k/d against unarmed drones?

The funny thing is that by doing this, North Korea allows South Korea to realize it's gaps and fix the problem. Unlike in dictatorial regimes, pluralistic ones are able to recognize when something went wrong and then try to fix it instead of bringing the responsible ones infront of a firing squad and continue as if nothing happened.

I don't really want to kill the Norks anymore. Can't there be some way to integrate them into the international community peacefully?

Anything would be better than the current paradigm. They are sworn enemies of the West according to their commie government but their population can only eat thanks to international aid. Theyre like an angry toddler with a kitchen knife, threatening to cut his parents even as he gets fed.

Idk what “international” is supposed to mean in your vocabulary but all their food imports come from China which they have good relations with, western pig.

it wont even come to that. SK will notice NK moving shells and troops near the border. SK informants/plants will hear military orders of an organized attack and warn seoul. If SK thinks that war is imminent it would use its air force and artillery to first strike NK artillery emplacements. The troop rush and armored thrust arent so dangerous without shelling support

north koreas ability to fire a thousand guns at the start of the war is vastly overrated
in order to totally destroy seoul like they threaten to do would require them to fire non-stop without running out of shells or being destroyed by return fire

the initial barrage would cause heavy damage, but would sharply decrease over time as guns will need to expose themselves to fire and will result in most of them being destroyed, disabled, or suppressed from the return fire

south korea has also been aware of the possibility of artillery fire for decades and is able to evacuate citizens from danger areas, further reducing their effect

totally leveling a major metropolitan city would be difficult even for the US, who can afford to fire guns non-stop and without fear of counter-battery fire or air strikes
it would border on impossible for a poor nation relying on cold war surplus
