The funny thing is that by doing this, North Korea allows South Korea to realize it's gaps and fix the problem. Unlike in dictatorial regimes, pluralistic ones are able to recognize when something went wrong and then try to fix it instead of bringing the responsible ones infront of a firing squad and continue as if nothing happened.

it wont even come to that. SK will notice NK moving shells and troops near the border. SK informants/plants will hear military orders of an organized attack and warn seoul. If SK thinks that war is imminent it would use its air force and artillery to first strike NK artillery emplacements. The troop rush and armored thrust arent so dangerous without shelling support
north koreas ability to fire a thousand guns at the start of the war is vastly overrated
in order to totally destroy seoul like they threaten to do would require them to fire non-stop without running out of shells or being destroyed by return fire
