>On October 27, around 08:00 a.m., a unit of the Kherson anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Southern Air Command shot down a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter.
Jesus, how bad is the Ka-52? They're dropping like flies
>On October 27, around 08:00 a.m., a unit of the Kherson anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Southern Air Command shot down a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter.
Jesus, how bad is the Ka-52? They're dropping like flies
They run out of non rookie pilots
>They run out of non rookie pilots
And their non-rookie pilots sucked to begin with.
Seriously, how many did we see get shot down with Sugma-B antitank missiles because the Ka-52 was just hovering for like two or three minutes in one spot, gazing at the sunset or whatever? I can think of at least four clearly different videos of that.
It's a fricking combat zone, you move or you die.
Not that I mind that at all, dead Russians are always a great laugh.
sugma nuts
That seems to have been a doctrinal issue, not "pilots are moronic". The theory was that if the helicopter engages in direct support from beyond the range of return fire, then if can remain stationary and get some focused time on target. The problem is that it turns out it's not that hard to hide an AA or, hell, AT weapon much closer to the helicopter than the Russian thought.
The Ka-52 isn't necessarily that bad. Ukraine just has a very high AA density and Russia can't into SEAD.
If Russia got state of the art American apaches instead to use instead I doubt they would fare any better.
It's a mixture of both factors. Russia rely upon antiquated aircraft, mostly shit left over from the Soviet era and they lack quality pilots. In addition, they likely don't bother with the intensive maintenance schedules that aircraft require, which is why so many are crashing into apartment buildings and failing to shoot down unarmed British spy planes.
>Russia rely upon antiquated aircraft
That's the thing though, the Hokum isn't antiquated. These are modern gunships they're losing.
I wouldn't call the KA-52 modern. It went into service in the mid 90s, based off a late soviet era design and likely hasn't undergone any refits or upgrades in that time. It's old, poorly maintained technology that is no match for anything the west has.
It's not cutting edge, but it's not an early Hind, either. It's a newer design than the AH-64, for perspective. It isn't antiquated tech, is all I'm saying
They might not be antiquated in terms of the airframe but the avionics etc will all be mid 90s tech. And it's designed and built by morons.
>It's old, poorly maintained technology that is no match for anything the west has.
But they're not fighting the West, they're fighting Ukraine. And Ukraine has mostly been using old slavshit to shoot the Ka-52's down.
I've heard people argue the Russians need to use their air-force more, but is there a good reason for the Russians to keep it in reserve? The Ukrainians have been smart with their planes maximizing it's effectiveness, but could the Russians still take advantage of their size advantage in the air nonetheless?
I don't think the russians have the qualified pilots for any intensive usage, because ukranian airspace is probably some of the most lethal ever right now and they can't afford the manpower losses that come from said intensive usage. or maybe the sanctions are hurting their parts production, etc. it's hard to really know why.
It's pointless to waste their airframes and pilots. They have very little PGMs so their only use in strike roles is to just send overwhelming firepower at a target that doesn't warrant that any munitions being dropped at it. They don't have good anti-radiation missiles to clear enemy AA either, so while they'd dropping 50 bombs to destroy a small target, they'll probably lose too many planes while doing this.
Yes but the Ka-52 isn't antiquated. The base model is more recent than the Apache. This does not mean necessarily that the Ka-52 is as good as the Apache but it shouldn't be a bad helicopter either. Russia is the problem.
That's what it really comes down to, Russia is incapable of successfully prosecuting a full SEAD/DEAD campaign.
I'm sure the chopper is probably fine, it's the Russian between the stick and the seat that sucks ass.
>forests
>enemy has loads of manpads
>enemy has loads of SAM
>enemy intel knows where you are at any time
>you're a slow as heli operating in that environment
Ukraine is a helicopter pilot's nightmare.
Anon, can you stop shitting up the board with real answers? You must hate on the russians and everything they do, it’s the rules.
The real answer doesn't make Russians look any less moronic?
I still hate Russians and everything they do.
Black person, Kherson and Zaporizhia is one giant field with single lines of trees cutting it on smaller fields
Isn't that what makes it worse? A helicopter can hide behind a forest but not behind a hedge row.
No, it's pretty much the ideal environment for a helicopter.
>wide open spaces you can dominate without getting plinked by something you'll never see coming
>multiple LoS breaks to dip behind if you get spotted by SHORAD
The problem is Russians treat helicopters and CAS planes like they treat their tanks and do uncoordinated raids and flybies leaving them exposed to ambushes.
They had a lot more success earlier in the war when they flew larger helicopter raids behind enemy lines to hunt for S-300s, tanks and command posts.
>multiple LoS breaks to dip behind if you get spotted by SHORAD
>overfly LoS break
>there is MANPADS hidden there
>die
>They had a lot more success earlier in the war
If they tried it right now their losses would be remains of their helicopter fleet, as whole frontline is supplied with some sort of AA
>by something you'll never see coming
I'm not sure you'll see anything coming with that optics resolution
Kino, they don’t make 'em like this anymore
That vid doesn't really work, Seagal is Russian these days.
that isn't a russian helicopter he's shooting down though, right?
He's a CIA triple agent
kherson and zap are all flat land and fields.
I don't know why, but out of that entire shitshow the thing that stuck out the most to me was the fact that on the third trigger-pull they just straight-up forgot to edit in the muzzle flash.
If he just shot down the helicopter by shooting the pilots through the windows, it's moronic but still semi-plausible. But the fact that the helicopter FRICKING EXPLODES in mid-air is what makes me kek
>the country that was literally only known as the bread basket of Europe
>fields as far as the fricking eye can sea
>our flag represents the yellow fields and the blue sky
Nice vid though. I love documentaries.
pilots have been playing too much war thunder
>pilots have been playing too much war thunder
they haven't been playing enough, if they had, they'd know they should be firing ATGMs at max range, over 10 kilometers away
>they'd know they should be firing ATGMs at max range, over 10 kilometers away
I don't think Bruce Leeroy is representative
The machine is probably bang average, but the lack of maintenance and training (both expensive and easy to embezzle) takes it's toll. In combination with the disastrous Russian air doctrine, that apparently put enemy AA in the realm of gnomes and fairies, you end up with sitting ducks that die more often than not when they cross the frontline.
Either a shitty bot or a great troll
9/10 made me reply and chuckle
Mhmm sorry but this is a weak troll, 2/10 newbie.
Lemme put it this way.
If Ukraine has a civilian spotting app that allows reaction times good enough for a MANPADS crew to shoot down a cruise missile, imagine what it does for planes and choppers. Pic rel is every Russian pilot for the last couple of weeks/months.
Does RuAF still have aircraft left? Did UkrAF finally gained Air superiority or they still struggled against SU30?
>Does RuAF still have aircraft left?
yes their air force is quite large, they could probably continue to sustain these losses overall for a couple years in airframes, the real issue would be pilots
>Did UkrAF finally gained Air superiority or they still struggled against SU30?
no one has air superiority in ukraine
The problem for air superiority is SAM. Ukraine can't fly with impunity because Russians still have working S-300 and S-400.
Additionally the Russians could bring out their MiGs for air defence.
>Ukraine can't fly with impunity because Russians still have working S-300 and S-400.
and Russians cant fly with impunity because Ukraine still has S-300s and a bajillion other things. its comical
Didn't they already have frick load of Anti radiation missiles?
They received some but that doesn't mean they can strike every Russian SAM threatening Ukrainian airspace.
As I understood it, Ukraine uses the AGM-88 in tandem with regular MLRS and GMLRS systems to overrun their AA systems and stir mass panic during an attack.
They "only" lost 10% of modern aircraft
Thing is they dont really have the capacity to build new ones in massive numbers not to mention it takes years and a lot of money to train pilots
Those E-3 Karens are doing a stellar job over in Poland and Romania
God, can you imagine her lowering her bottom onto your face after she's been in flying for 18 hours? Without a wash? She's a 5/10 soccer mom so she's guaranteed to keep it trim down there, probably fully shaven, but the smell and discharge after 18 hours! Can you imagine the smell as she lowers her bottom to sit on your face? Can you imagine the meaty sopping softness settling on to your nose and face? Can you imagine it? Can you? I can.
Anon I saw you in the other thread
You may have a problem
and a more minor one that you are starting to make me horny also, you degenerate swine
The helos and ground attack planes are basically being thrown in 1 or 2 at a time to support depleted mech infantry units that are on the verge of being overrun.
Logistics is too hard, so is reinforcing the units. Let's just send in whatever can make the trip in an hour? Surely the enemy AA can't hit shit either? And the enemy might stop for a while if they take some casualties.
Guess what becomes the priority target instantly when spotted.
> russia loses a few aircraft
> /kope goes nuts
> ukraine loses most of their air capability
> /kope ignores this
lol
How are those new Su-30 kamikaze drones working this week Ivan Suckmydickski?
I'd have loved it if the guy kept going and- and he's parking his car like nothing happened, yep.
You're telling me you'd just stop your car in the middle of the driveway? That's just plain inconsiderate.
No, I mean like he sees the plane crash, and doesn't even stop his car, but goes into the parking space and gets out. Like seeing a plane crash has lost all novelty and it's just another tuesday. Except he basically does that cause he only stops for five seconds before looking for a parking space.
Another fricking plane crashed? Are they just putting in untrained conscripts in their jets now?
At least the japs were smart enough to crash their cannon fodder into the enemy
Yeah, coue days back. SU-30 crashed into babushkas house after supposedly leaving the factory. It was brand fricking new. Russians sent up a second plane after it had been circling for twenty minutes. Pilots in second su reported the pilots were unconscious and it "crashed" after "running out of fuel".
is the resulting Pepe meme.
That sounds like a hypoxia event. How high were they (before they crashed obviously)?
it was actually, an examination of the remains indicated a failure of the oxygen supply
Imagine if some aspiring saboteur started replacing oxygen tanks with nitrogen
They used copium
Beautiful
iirc; the russians said they accidently replaced the oxygen with nitrogen or some shit, the col piloting passed out.
>Are they just putting in untrained conscripts in their jets now?
I think this is unironically Ukrainian saboteurs work. Russia is crawling with Ukrainian migrants and like every 5 family has close kin in Ukraine. Ideal environment to recruit agents for SBU.
>Picrel typed this post
This image is cherry picked, he is obviously one of the better looking russians.
whats going on with his hands
>> ukraine loses most of their air capability
>> /kope ignores this
I know, Russia has destroyed the Ukranian air force and all air defense 4 times now. Stupid hohols.
ukies are force have been destroyed in the first day, incel slava z told me. This is all done by evil nato trannies, ukies cant be this good, since they are russians in disguise, brainwashed by nato propaganda
2 MORE WEEKS
It's already been said, numerous times, but it's not just the machine. It's how it's employed. If you give even the most advanced tank to an Arab they'll find a way to frick up and get it obliterated. Right now the Russians are demonstrating how important it is to properly employ a combined arms approach to battle. They aren't doing that and they're losing equipment at a very high rate. Having did that, it's clear the KA-52 isn't nearly as advanced as they made it out to be. Big surprise, right?
I'm honestly wondering if the Russian Air Force is running short on flares.
>source is just a picture with a big red X drawn over it
lol this board sucks
What is the deal with Ka52? What happened with mi35 and mi28?
Can you imagine the boner you would get from shooting down an enemy aircraft?
I was an AA missile guy in my national service, we did get to shoot one live missile. Yes, i can imagine how fricking hard you would get shooting down a real target.
Our boss unfortunately told us that after we fired that first missile odds are we can count the rest of our lives in seconds.
Of course this was back in -05 when everybody thought russia was competent
Considering Ukrainian affinity towards filming everything in HD, you'd think they would've sent a drone in the direction of a plume of smoke such a splashdown would've created, non? Do forgive me for having any doubts like that when Ukraine's opening act in this war was ghost of kiev.
I'm surprised not only by how many Ka-52s they're losing, but how many there are in the field. I always expected to see more Hinds or even Mi-28s than Ka-52s.
But then again I'm not really that knowledgeable and only really encountered stuff in things like the first Arma.
Speaking of Arma are there any images or recorded footage of Vodniks in use?
Mi-28 was adopted into service pretty recently and only because of corruption, so this means fewer helicopters and trained crew for them.
Also, by default Ka-52 has Vitebsk complex for jamming heat-guided rockets, probably they didn't have the resources to put it on every Hind
Judging by the quantity of footage from among the three, Ka-52s are definitely doing the most. Most of the hinds seem to be the upgraded Mi-35 version too, judging by that extra ball with avionics and landing gear not retracted during flight. There's been surprisingly few videos featuring Mi-28s lately but some of the pov videos of product-305 launches were made from those. One of the helicopter pilots has a blog where he shares tidbits of info and iirc he did mention that Mi-28 can't handle some of the heavier dumb rockets that Ka-52 can employ, which may explain it to some degree.
There was also an interview with another helicopter pilot who had participated in the initial assault on the 24th and according to him Kamov crews are youngsters - and it was their show - while those piloting Hinds were vets flying in older machines, some of which even lacked automated countermeasures modules (see:L370 vitebsk). I can see all the older stuff being phased out (or being shot down early into the conflict). Oh and there was also an odd incident involving an Mi-28 a few years ago where the helicopter contrived to chop off its own tailboom, I think? Kind of foggy on the details, but it basically happened in broad daylight during a test flight or something, both pilots KIA. Maybe that has slowed its adoption down.
Been following the conflict rather closely and haven't seen a single mention of vodniks, let alone any photographs. Don't think that many were produced, they must've been discontinued in favor of tigrs. Tigrs and typhoons were used extensively in the early days, not seeing them as often anymore, especially typhoons. The recent version of a typhoon 4x4 variant (K-4386) looks very mean, hope they'll be picked for mass production.
>make up claims
>nobody challenges them
based
>liberates crash site after a few months
>It DoEsNt CoUnT!
Surely they must be telling the truth.
You have any clue how many aircraft US lost in Vietnam. Don't laugh when you live in a glass house. And the Viets in the 60s have worse AA than Ukraine today who is equipped with US satellite and spy plane intel. You were losing helos to guys sitting on top trees with a PKM mutt gay
>60 year old war
Lmao vatnik cope is self defeating
>23 lost since the start of the war
>It's 1/4 of what they have
I don't feel so good vatsisters
Mutts built 800 F105s for Vietnam and literally lost half of them to rice farmers with rusty AKs.
This. Aircraft just get shot down in wars. Its just a fact of their dangerous mission profile . only reason Americans arent used to this because they been fighting enemies without proper AA or signal intelligence for decades
>but what about
Vietnam was 60 years ago comrade, are you saying that modern russia is as bad as 1960s era America?
Actually since russia's lost more men in Ukraine in less than a year than the USA lost during ten years in Vietnam, I guess we can safely say it's WORSE.
America is still a shitty military today they just havent fought an enemy with sigint and AA. just recently mutts were routed by a rag tag band of goat herders . if mutts were in Ukraine against the sameconsitions that Russia is fighting in, theres 0 doubt for anyone with a militarily analytical mind that the US would be doing significantly worse than Russia
>they just havent fought an enemy with sigint and AA
lmao
someone post the SEAD.webm
This one?
yes, thanks
>Arab militaries
Lol theyre the worst most incompetent organized militaries on the planet. They only work out as guerilla bandits. If america was fighting ukrainian whites with white manned AA and western provided SIGINT, America's air force would at best achieve a phyrric victory
fricking COPE
>If america was fighting ukrainian whites with white manned AA and western provided SIGINT, America's air force would at best achieve a phyrric victory
Its an interesting hill you are chosing to die on there -Saying Russia's Airforce isn't bad, it's the fact that American provided SIGINT is just so much better than what Russia can achieve, If Russia could match American SIGINT then America would be in trouble
Fighting an enemy that receives the levels of intelligence support (from countries you cannot fight) that Ukraine does is very stupid, yes. It’s one of the reasons we mock Russia. You shouldn’t engage in wars you cannot win, all they do is exhaust your people and your treasury for no benefit, and Russia is trying to pretend that the garbage disposal they stuck their dick in is a onahole.
The Soviet Union merely provided Vietnam with the most modern air defense systems in the world (and not unlimited electronic battlefield intelligence), and it was still a very bloody war for the US Air Force and Army Aviation Wing. The difference between the US in Vietnam and Russia in Ukraine is that the US in the 1960 and 70s was building more than one jet aircraft per day and Vietnam was something we did on the other side of the world in support of an ally, not something we did in our own back yard for imperial ambitions.
The waste of manpower and equipment, saddled with political restrictions that made victory impossible, in South East Asia greatly weakened the government and military of the US. It took our military over a decade to recapture its elan, and I’d argue that our government has never really recovered the political capital it spent there, and at the end of the day, we were losing under 5,000 men per month and there was almost no diplomatic consequence for our loss. By comparison, Russia is losing men in Ukraine 15 times faster than the US lost men in Vietnam, and Russia is subject to crippling economic sanctions because of this war. How long will Russia take to recover from this debacle? Many decades at minimum.
>pretending the NVA didn't have an airforce or modern AA systems
Those brave KA-52 and SU-25 pilots are intercepting dangerous Ukranian missiles all over the place.
KA-52 is perfectly adequate. The problem is the russian army can't into intelligence preparation of the battlefield, can't plan operations for shit, can't communicate between air and ground assets, and can't direct fires from their aircraft using drones (MUM-T). So you see them launching rockets at angle in indirect fire mode and fricking off. That isn't the best employment mode for attack aviation. Also russian night vision sucks ass.
Shame, love the look of those tandem-rotor Kamovs
How many days until the next Russian jet crashes into a civilian building? It's been almost a week since the last time.
Or did Russia stop reporting their "jet crashed into civilian building" numbers?
>ywn see a Ka-52 with a European overhaul like all the modernized Soviet tank variants
I've got your European overhaul right here
