Okay but why do I like the cold?

Idk why but I prefer brutal winters over mild winters. I'm ready to leave town simply because it just doesn't get cold enough down here. Doesn't make any sense if you think about it.

posturing, you were raised to believe men had to be tough, and so you feel being loud about your tolerance to cold makes you seem really manly and cool

Well, if OP lives in the south, it could be because it makes him feel special. Your average southerner freaks out when there's more than a light dusting of snow on the ground and can't handle cold weather camping either.
Here, dealing with several feet of snow is no big deal (even roasties do it) and you would be called a pussy if the weather kept you indoors between November and April.

I'm from the north but moved to the south a couple years ago, maybe I'm just used to the cold? It might be the opposite way around if I moved north from the south.

That could be the case. I wouldn't care for the mild winters in the southeast if I lived down there. I didn't even care for the relatively mild winter we had in the northeast last year and you probably wouldn't have either.

I miss seasons. I like a nice cold winter it makes you have different feelings. I moved to the middle of the outback and it's pretty samey until rain.

I'm with you, but as I've gotten older, my circulation has become worse and worse. I have to wake up a bit earlier to actually warm up my bones in the shower.
The coldest wind in the lower 48 can be similar to the bearing down of heat on a brutal summer day. Like living in the moment.

I hate when it drops below 60 degrees. I was born in the wrong part of the country. I never got used to winters but I’ll go out and hike and shit when it’s 90+ degrees with the same level of humidity any day.

    I like 25f or so
one time it was -25 all day. I did not enjoy that.
just cold enough where there's no bugs or humidity but I can still work up a sweat and wear a tshirt.

This is a shared sentiment among most people I know in the north east. A mild winter is dirty, slushy, wet, and still cold. worst of both worlds, as far as I'm concerned cold and wet is the worst place to be and a mild winter is just that.

Meanwhile a brutal winter is proper winter, you can rely on the snow being a certain way, assuming you layer it's very pretty and nice, and most of all it's dry so it's not a nightmare to just go on a walk, you don't risk getting fricking wet!

Yeah its an increasingly common sentiment in the north east, since winters have been getting milder over the decades.

I for one demand harsher winters. But my prayers go unanswered.

    >i don't like the snow"
why? its one of the most beautiful things in nature.
    >i don't like driving in it
hey bro i'll take you to the track, wet the skid pad, and teach you how to drive in the snow no problem.
    >no anon, i know how to drive, its all the other people

There are few things that kill my joy faster than driving 10 over down a country road and having to slow down because some c**t doesnt have on snow tires and is doing fricking 40mph in a light snow storm.

        >40mph
Kek I was doing 65 in a light snow storm with a high of 30F and >1/4th inch on the highway in AZ today. I saw one rolled over out of state plate vehicle (CA) with a tow truck crew trying to recover it and a desert dweller citidiot going 40mph in a 55.

Because brisk cold dry weather is awesome for hiking on clear days. Frozen ground is much nicer than muddy or wet ground.

Snow and frost are beautiful. Also keeps away certain people.

I hate summer and hot weather, it's the worst time for going outside and also when everyone is outside.

All the mycotoxins in the environment are deactivated once temps go below freezing. The air becomes much healthier to breathe.

Same, I love extreme weather. Something about it makes me feel soo alive. Makes me feel connected to the universe.
