No optics rail, no adjustable sights

The only reason why anyone under the age of 70 would buy a full size revolver is for hunting or long range target shooting. What exactly does Henry expect people to do with these guns? Play dress up?

It doesn't need a rail but for a full size revolver I sort of expect and demand adjustable sights based on similar offerings at that price. If the fit and finish is really good it might still be worth because smith and ruger have been slacking for a while.

And if they did a homosexual like you would whine it ruins the aesthetic. Why should they cater to a market that's not interested in revolvers at all?

          Anonymous

Because we are interested. We're interested in revolvers that are good at filling the only niche they have left, which is long range precision and energy retention. Only teenagers and the elderly want a 4" 357 that doesn't even have adjustable sights.

Then pony up and buy a Korth or one of the new Taurus offerings if price is a factor, optics have been mounted on revolvers for quite some time. There's no need to be a prick to those who enjoy the classic look of a stock revolver.

Why would I buy a revolver in the year 2023 that has no way to attach modern optics? What conceivable point could there be to that? I expect a revolver to be (slightly) easier to shoot accurately than a pistol. That's all it's good for. If I can shoot my G17 MOS or G40 MOS better because it supports modern optics, what is the point of the revolver?

cowboy action shooting is going to LOVE this, and that's a big enough market to cater a small run to. there are also a lot of rich gun-buying boomers, so it makes sense to cater to that audience. while young folks either aren't buying guns or are buying basic b***h/practical shit, boomers largely buy what they want.

lastly: it's henry. none of their guns are truly, honestly practical in the modern day. yet, they're obviously turning enough of a profit to stay in business. they know their business model better than we do.

It really is similar to the PrepHole consensus dynamic, where if you like anything but a Toyota Camry then you are silly and like impractical things and should be subject to ridicule. Thinking about rebuilding a ‘70 Superbird? That’s so impractical for a daily commute and bad on gas and modern cars are superior anyway, etc.

Anybody who learned to shoot a handgun before 2013 should know how little rails, optics, and even adjustable sights really matter. I'm not trying to be a dick, but you probably don't understand just how quickly handguns and the popular perception of their use has changed over the last 10 years. Almost nobody before 2012 had a WML on their pistol, be it a carry or home defense gun. Handgun optics outside of competition (or a dedicated long-range handgun) practically didn't exist. The revolver was still a highly recommended carry option throughout the 2000s until guns like the Shield hit the market. In January of 2013, I bought a 4" Model 10, it has been one of my main carry guns since, and I have never felt under-equipped with it.

I don't really care to purchase one of these new Henry revolvers, but you have to understand that there are plenty of people out there who are used to shooting box-stock handguns and will leave it that way. I know it's a different market today with the pistol being just half of the purchase before a light, aftermarket trigger, optic, cowitnessed sights, extended mag and slide releases, and TiN coatings, but all that shit seems silly to people who owned guns 10+ years ago.

It's an 1850s style homage with some interesting design queues nobody else has tried since. Just a target gun for guys who aren't tickled by the new Python, Model 27 Classic, Ruger Blackhawk, etc. Not every gun has to have a defined tactical purpose or be on the cutting edge of practicality and lethality. Some people don't give a frick about that shit they just want a cool gun that people ask them about.
