you don't need one. create a home depot account and give it the card you use to purchase stuff and it will show you ALL of your purchases since they started keeping track.

They clearly already store it because they call pull the history, might as well make use of it. If I'm buying something from HD I don't want the botnet to record I pay cash.

    >NO I DONT WANT A FRICKING E-RECEIPT
I do because it's a business expense and people like me spend way more money there (reluctantly because all the small businesses are now gone) so it's going to stay 🙂

No, because walmart and home depot and Amazon drove down prices to the point where high quality tools stores with knowledgeable owner/employees and a back room where they repaired your tools, are almost completely gone. That's good for your average homeowner, because now he can go pick a tool color at one of the generic bullshit stores. But for professionals who want nice stuff because they use it daily, it really sucks. Drive around this country and once you leave big cities you see the same thing, a closed down tire shop, a closed down hardware store, a closed down this, a closed down that, and then you see a 10 acre plot with a walmart, walmart tire center, walmart gas station, etc. etc. etc.

          > repair
That’s because nobody wants to send their tool all the way to china to get it repaired.

I happen live in a city with a huge dwv abs fitting molding plant. You can actually order boxes of them and pick them up. Where does the local home depot get their fittings? China, of course. It’s crazy. Oh, and the local price 10 *times* cheaper, and probably cheaper than HD’s price that they buy them for.

Also, home depo never used to be able to get information based on your credit card… they didn’t know who you were… they just got the money.
I guess they’ve got machines with double readers in them, so now they have all your into to offer an e-recipt. Time to go back to cash (before it’s gone)

Think the credit card companies changed their policies on card tracking by merchants because it used to be explicitly forbidden but now even Walmart let's you see a history of purchases based on your credit card number.

          >high quality tools stores with knowledgeable owner/employees
Have one of these near me. Started out that way. But then Mildred came in and looked confused because she couldn't find a plant. So they added plants. Pretty soon the garden section extends into the middle of the parking lot. So when Mildred wandered out of the aisle into traffic, a flatbed loaded with sheet rock splattered her all over the pavement. Guess what guys? We can't sell hardware anymore.

That's when you use a business card, or one that they ID as such. You simply use one letter each time, and then looking at the order history online it spells out a word.

i was buying like 6 plastic tubs at home depot the other week and while i was ringing them up at the self checkout this employee (woman, rotund, ethnic) picked up each of the tubs one-by-one to make sure i wasn't stealing anything by hiding it between the tubs.

i just stared at her, fricking shocked. luckily she didn't lift the last one fully out of the cart because i had a couple pairs of work gloves under the bottom tub that i was stealing.

Imagine not getting e-receipts for everything and just having a mailbox rule that automatically shuffles them into a directory with subdirectories by building address for easy reference and archiving.

i like home depot. the only reason i really go there is to flirt with the cute chicks watching the self checkout. apparently lowes hires 20something men exclusively, so if you swing that way...

cashiers are usually old saggy crackheads, they can't really train young part-timers to work cashier

The contractor checkout had a cute college age redhead working the register today. Moving to the Midwest from the South has been a nice improvement in retail employee quality on almost every metric.

There are 5 home depots that are closer than the nearest Lowe's. I would gladly go if it wasn't so far away, they're always cleaner and nicer imo. Plus if I'm going to be self discounting things I'd rather do it at a store that sucks

Do not under any condition give hem any of your info!
The one time I thought I'd do a E-receipt they flooded my inbox with ads. When I tried to get them to stop they just increased it. It got to the point I was getting an ad email every 30 minutes! I eventually had to turn off email alerts on my phone as it was keeping me from getting a good nights sleep as it kept going of every email the sent. But that also lead to me missing some emails from my boss as I have on call in case of work emergencies, nearly cost me my job lucky my record at work was good enough to get me out of it but it cost me my quarterly bonus. Then I did the dumbest thing and called to try and get a real person to make the madness end, the call center was busy so I left my number. Then they started calling me back to help with the issue, 6 call backs in one day as each rep had no clue the other had just called about an hour ago to ask the same things as they tried to up sell me on a credit card as I explained i wanted nothing to do with their horrible company. The whole event spanned for 2 whole months as it kept getting worse and worse, till the nightmare finally ended and the last one was an apology so crammed with sales pitches about what they could do to keep me as a loyal customer. I now now avoid them like the plague and only pay in cash if I have to buy anything there.

As a former SSC employee, I can confirm that your information is treated like a cheap hooker being passed around an aircraft carrier. Once one group gets your info, every other group in the company will get ahold of it and try to market to you. Home Depot is a huge company and departments are very loosely coupled, each doing its own thing with little coordination between them. Even if you can get one group to stop annoying you, your data has already been pimped out to everyone else and there's no process for purging it companywide.
