new large-scale gunpower production

Frogs are breaking ground on plants intended to scale to 800k artillery shells worth of charges per year. This is on top of the US ramping to 1M per year by 2025. Some interesting details on How It's Made in the article.

      >Can a native amphibian explain the bit about on-site storage?
      As I understand,
They start storing the non-dangerous material on-site in quantity and produce the explosive powder immediately as needed with 3D printers.
That way they don't have problems with needing to store the dangerous powder until a shell is ready.

Probably something similar to black powder.
          >mix wet components

          >let it dry
In situ and without the problems of shipping the premixed initiator powder.

They have switched from a no-storage production model, to a model where critical materials (e.g. cotton) are stored on-site. I suppose the idea is to have a buffer in case supply lines get compromised.

We need children to survive, we are duty bound to produce the next generation. Noone else will do it for us, thus when someone talks about permanently castrating themselves we rightfully used to send them to the loony bin.

These people basically remove the very things that created them to end their line because they're mentally ill and rejected their parents or society. This is not "doing what they want" this is fundamentally rejecting life, the very thing that made them to "not let the evil nasty men win".
Children are needed to care for them when they're older, all she's doing is making it more difficult for the next generation to care for her, she would have been better off killing herself.

They get this way because they've spent too long online or in college in radicalism circles usually, rejecting their duty for some dumb materialistic goal that ultimately will leave them being burdens on the state for some idealistic goal that ultimately doesn't give a shit and will ignore there "sacrifice", they're often too malformed to make rational decisions, they only see a burdenin duty, and thus in my opinion should be eradicated as the cancer they are as they spread this cancer to every next generation.
              But also, this isn't guns.

I agree we might feel better if we have kids since we come with hardware wired for having and liking them.
I agree that when viewed collectively, having replacement rate kids is doing collective good.

but you are conflating a moral argument as a factual statement and you even get tangled up in the logic in your own post.

If the purpouse of an individuals life is to perpetuate the species, then what is the purpouse of the species? To perpetuate the species? It's circular logic.
If the individual has something inherent within it that makes it valuable to exist,
doesnt this make the individual experience of life superior to else?

If the purpose of an individual life is to perpetuate ALL life on the planet then, very clearly humans should all collectively an hero since we're demonstrably causing the next Mass Exctinction.
If we are to perpetuate it via colonizing other planets and terraforming/brining other species w. us there, not having kids is perfectly aligned with this goal, in fact one could argue it helps us get there faster.

              No.

by this logic the most "functional" forms of "life" possible are viruses, reproduction alone does not make life meaningful

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. The discussion is about a woman who voluntarily sterilized herself and whether or not that is evidence of mental illness.

My argument is that in terms of the fundamental purpose of life, yes that is evidence of mental illness.

In terms of meaning. Yes. Raising children 100% results in a meaningful life, unless you're a pos who doesnt look after their kids. Consooming is not a meaningful life and neither is working a mindless 9 to 5. Her stated reasons are "I like dogs and money", there is no meaning in either.

so what youre telling me is i should get a job at a sperm bank working overtime and replace every batch of cum with my own and i will have lived the most meaningful life ever?

Propellant shortage is a problem even nowadays. China isn't exporting some components and obviously you need a lot of charges to get max range (15 kg per shell, more than its HE filling).

      Anonymous

Shells can last 50-70 years in controlled temperature storage with no degradation - and can be derusted and renovated if necessary.
Propellants even in good storage conditions start to degrade after 15-20 years, starting with performance loss, and eventually chemical breakdown of the nitrocellulose to combustion.
So, you need to keep producing more new propellant than projectiles, and in a WW3 you need large quantities of both anyway.

Their entire petro-chemical infrastructure is Anglo-Germanic. The Soviet's first oil pipeline in the 1960s was made by fricking Austrians. And they certainly didn't get any better in their dependencies since.

The French are notorious for selling weapons to anyone who pays. They're the entire reason Israel has nuclear weapons. They're absolutely going to give them to someone, for a price.
And we don't need them to flatten China. They lost to the Vietnamese in 3 weeks in the 1980s. We'll herd them into pens, shoot them all, and go home after turning that land into a barren wasteland.

Nope, the Frogs are the entire reason they and many other people who really don't need WMDs have them.
Also, fun fact: in 1979, an American satellite picked up an unidentified double-flash of light detected in the Indian Ocean (about halfway between the southern tip of Africa and Antarctica). It's unknown what it was or who did it, but it's highly suspected to have been an illegal nuclear test jointly carried out by Israel and South Africa. At this time, nuclear testing was banned in atmosphere, over water, or in space. For a more accurate gauge of where this was, the flash was between the Prince Edward Islands and the sparsely inhabited Crozet Islands. The Prince Edward Islands belong to South Africa, and the Crozet Islands are a French possession. Absolutely coincidental of course, as well as the fact that American sorties detected nuclear fallout and traces of Iodine-131, a substance created by nuclear fission with a very short half-life.
Given that the French own territory nearby, I'd say they were probably showing off the merchandise to the customers.

Russia is fricking up Ukraine more every day and there doesn't seem like there's much Ukraine can do at the moment to stop it. They're entirely at the mercy of the west, and their morale has been steadily declining since the counteroffensive that achieved nothing last year.
Ukraine also has a lot more men and materiel than Poland. Their troops have at least some experience - Poland's have frick all and there's like 100k of them. A good chunk of their vehicles is now in Ukraine, and most of what they ordered hasn't arrived.
                >I'm pretty sure Poland could 1v1 Russia.
It would go pretty much as Ukraine, except with Poland having significantly less everything except possibly AA if they were left out to dry by NATO, which is exactly what Russia is hoping for. I'm also pretty sure the will to fight would quickly go from high to very low if they had to fight them off by themselves. Poland has frick all MIC production, for that matter.

How exactly will Russia "go" for Baltics and Poland? With what industry, what men, what excuse?

                >With what industry, what men, what excuse?
With the industry they currently have + whatever support they get from chinks, norks, iran and whatever - it sure seems enough for the current positional warfare they're carrying out. With the men they're sending in meatwave assaults right now, which is significantly more numerous than the entire Polish army.
                >excuse
we want your shit and we're taking it, try and stop us - same as in Ukraine

It's a big if, but if NATO decides they can't be bothered then Poland would be as fricked as Ukraine would be with zero support. Baltics are even worse off. And when you have Trump saying how he'd encourage Russia to go wild, and you take a look at how buck-broken Germans are about Russia to this day, and how generally useless the French were, then I think easterners might start to wonder if NATO would lift a finger if something did happen. (inb4 Trump only said it about muh 2%, you know he doesn't give a shit about the number and you know he's unpredictable)

                What a funny argumentation.

Why is Poland on a desperate shopping spree (three different MBTs, HIMARS + korean copies, somebody currently in US trying to expedite F35 delivery) if they're so certain foreign help is assured? What's the rush? NATO can crush Russia easily now, and in 5 years, and in 10 years.
NATO could also crush Russia by delivering a bunch of materiel to Ukrops, while losing nothing but some couch change, but for some reason they're not doing it.

Even if Ukraine were loosing (arguably they are, but so is Russia) they will probably go down 3rd reich style and fight on until basically the last conscripted man, since they are fighting a compleatly defensive war and wish to inflict as heavy losses as possible to the vatnig hordes. There really isnt any "quck victory" scenario for either side at this point, politically or military. Both sides will probably slug it out for years unless NATO decides do say frick it and engage properly or Putin goes full NOOK.

There is no surrender option for Ukraine, even were they now so inclined. Russia was "bullet-in-brain-in-a-hole-in-the-woods"-ing potential resistors in occupied areas as soon as it became clear that the Ukrainians wouldn't just roll over and become Russians. Ukrainians who refuse to accept Russian internal passports get disappeared into that same hole in the woods. Russia is committed to the destruction of Ukraine and people who identify as Ukrainian. Ukrainians are not a nation or people to them; they are traitorous Russians who refused their legitimate re-absorption by the great Holy Motherland of Jesus, Nicholas and Stalin. Which is to say Russia is a mad dog which must be put down at all costs. And I say that as a staunch isolationist. It is TZD or bust because the alternative is Katyn writ large.

Maybe wars can be brotherly in the sense of Cain and Abel's relationship, but if that's what brotherhood means in the east then none of them are brothers, just a bunch of crabs in a bucket.
There is no advice you can give them. All of their failings are due to their own nature, any success they make is due to someone outside of their hellhole giving them something to do that with, and even then it's assured their success would've been far greater had it been executed by a western power instead.
There's nothing more to say about it. I have no solution to offer any of them, nor do I care. Same goes for any bullshit regarding Israel and Palestine, it's simply not my problem. If the state actually wants to spend some of that military money giving them the tools to kill each other too, then that's also not my problem. As long as I'm not being sent to die in some shithole, it will not now and never will be my problem. The world can do as it will outside of my land.

I did it 15 years ago, I don't remember much on what I used because I was just a kid but I think I was adding too much sulphur.
And I never attempted it since.

It could also have been using something like barbeque briquettes as your charcoal source -- those are usually made of a mix of clay, other fillers, and shitty sawdust, and incompletely converted into carbon. People like willow and alder for powder because they make extremely fine, soft powder and carbonize well.
The sulphur is more of a catalyst and stabilizer for the reaction. It lowers the ignition temperature and makes the ignition more even and reliable. You need very little to actually get it to work, but you do need to grind everything separately as fine as humanly possible. Mix the components wet, and then sieve them to get grains of even size. For commercial powder they coat and tumble the grains to make them even more.. well, even, but that's not really viable in a garage. Especially because it's a massive explosion hazard if you don't do it exactly right. Really, it's easier to grain it up and then use graduated sieves to sort out what you're using for primer and powder, and what you need to bust up a little more.

Also if you make home-made, keep it sealed in a water-tight, static-proof container away from light or excessive heat (IE not in a Tupperware container in a car trunk or a garage in Houston). Should go without saying but all of those things either destabilize it or run the risk of igniting it.

I used charcoal sold at the pharmacy. Obviously bad idea if you need a lot of it, but that was just enough for my rockets.

You guys don’t grasp how big of a deal letting Russia win in Ukraine is. It would be….not exactly a death-blow to the Western world order but a but like a big green light for everyone else telling them that aligning outside of the Western sphere is a viable option.

The trick is to let him """win""" just enough so that he can sell it to his moronic populace. We don't want to frick him too hard because it may generate resentment and we would all much rather keep our hands in Russia's resource basket when his regime inevitably collapses.

They already feel resentment, may as well go all the way. Russia is allies with China, so they can both get the 8 Nation Alliance treatment. Disband their nations entirely, divvy the land up between all the occupying powers, and put your boots on their necks as much as you like. You now have an unlimited supply of free slaves and vassals you can tax the hell out of. To say nothing of plundering everything you can get your hands on. I'd definitely be enticed to enlist if I knew I could loot them to my heart's content. Granted they don't have much other than what they've already looted and domestic Chinese products are basically IEDs, but I'll take what I can get.

There is an army of 20,000 people at Putin's doorstep who would give us some really good deals on Russian resources if we helped them seize power from him while also minimizing the amount of animosity between Russia and her neighbours.

Still smaller than the soviets. Soviets were bigger and still lost. Russia getting ukraine is nothing. Another breadbasket but russia is already the biggest breadbasket. Biggest country in europe but russia is already the biggest country anyway. They get nothing they don't already have.

        Brainlet take.
Pidor getting Yooks shows the entire world the West cant sort shit out even in its own backyard, that US has been subverted from the inside and EU is too lipwristed to get their shit together 3 years in.
It will caise a flurry of landgrabs and security breakdowns the world over stirring up causing a spike in trade prices and destabilizing western aupply chains.
US would come out better than the rest, true, but it would be the poorest that feel it the most and as it stands, can it survive more division?

further, Russia getting Ukraine makes them a European empire, without them and Belraus they're an Asian empire.
Russia getting it into their heads that they can win this, means they can win anything and westoids wont fight back. The next step is to test NATO, nothing big, maybe do Slovakia, they're all basically proRussian anyway and wont fight, maybe the balts its a short strech to the sea.
If Russia tests and NATO doesnt come to aid, its basically it, let alone if they misjudge and NATO retaliates with nooks.

That's way more than I thought. TZD truly is something else. And that's even before the recent political stances. Which now makes sense, the politics already had those numbers.

gawddamn. How do those numbers compare to the bog-standard "would you fight for your c**t?" numbers? It's a good baseline because it's surveyed in every major country.

Building this skill internally, however, required meeting a constraint: storage of the powder at the origin of the black paste limited to 10 kg per day. Far too little to anticipate the autonomy necessary for ramp-ups.

The solution ? The storage of the – non-hazardous – components constituting the powder, now produced on site and on demand. As for the question of volumes, a duo of technicians answered it using 3D printing. Developed in 18 months, the process called “ Automatic Dough Direct Deposit ” (A3D), allows a helical roll of black paste to be printed directly inside the igniter tube. All this, automatically, quickly and continuously via the four “printers” installed in the RIC workshop. A thousand tubes come out every day, a volume which could rise to 1,500 with the addition of two additional machines. Compact and simple to maintain, these machines are also easy to move, duplicate or replace. Above all, they avoid betting everything on a single large capacity tool likely to seize up the entire chain in the event of a breakdown.

By the description the ignitor (black powder or something similar) is injected wet in a pipe. Transporting black powder-like things is a pain in any country but its components are safe.

Not really. This seems to have proceeded about as quickly as any project that's split across EU member states could have gone. If anything there may have been complications with sweden and nato timing.
