    >Solid-rocket motor
No. It's just a low drag long range missile. They exists since the 60s.

No, what has existed since the 60s are ballistic missiles which go up and then come back down really fast, technically at hypersonic speeds but in a completely predictable ballistic arc. What these new missiles are doing is going over mach 5 in a straight line.

Just because something is built by HATO doesn't mean it's a wonderweapon, vatnik. But I understand why it might appear that way to a nation less industrially developed than Mexico.

Less developed than India, Colombia, Brazil or Belarus...

Without their soviet MIC legacy they would be as irrelevant as Kazakhstan.

Ukraine was like 35%~40% of Soviet industrial output despite being 15%~20% of the Soviet population too.

That was before they left the USSR and proceeded to de-industrialize in an intense orgy of looting. That happened in Russia too but, critically, they managed to hang on to a core industrial base and proceeded to be one of the world’s top military arms exporters. Ukraine is home to famous arms and aviation companies, what happened to those? Why did Ukraine fail to develop from that great base from 2014 and the following 8 years of war if not earlier? Why is Russian industry growing rapidly today while Ukraine still can’t do more than small assembly shops and rely on volunteer networks for light manufacturing? I need an explanation for such a huge difference.

            >I need an explanation for such a huge difference.
Russia had been transferring a lot of industrial and design offices to Moscow and the Urals. The main difference is simple: budget.
Crude oil/gas exports saved the Russian MIC because their local industry was as inefficient as the Ukrainian. And they had been targeting Ukrainian MIC at least since the mid 2000s, mainly through brain drain, blackmailing (russia was the main importer of engines and other mil tech), direct sabotage.

Russia had a lot of natural resources to make up the difference and help bankroll saving strategic industries. Ukraine did not. Based on how much oil and gas Russia has, they should have been able to invest in building up a Japan/Germany tier modern industrial base and it's downright embarrassing that they didn't. Now Mexico, like the former USSR is corrupt and full of idiots but they actually do go after the corrupt at a much higher rate. Here are Mexican Marines performing an arrest of the Acapulco police chief. They arrested and investigated almost the entirety of that counties police and government after serious corruption issues came out. That simply doesn't happen in Russia.

See I don't know what to think about Mexico. Is their growth going to be a good thing or a bad thing? It would be nice if Mexico got to a point that the illegals go back home, but I don't particularly like a country that's practically run by cartels getting stronger.

Most migrants coming over the border aren't Mexican, they're central Americans, Haitians, Venezuelans or people from all over the world. It's been that way for a few years now. Mexico isn't run by cartels. Most Mexicans simply don't care about doing anything about it because the violence is mostly concentrated in specific areas and doesn't effect the average Mexican. It's stupid but their mentality on it is literally "not my problem". Also their leftists throw a temper tantrum anytime the military or government really does anything serious against narcos.

Mexico could be a great country they have great beautiful scenery and interesting history good food

But for godsakes they need to get corruption under control when you have even beat cops demanding bribes the whole thing is fricked

My brother went to college in San Diego and they would go down Mexico way to TJ well one visit the cops stop him and his friends and they search them for drugs even behind their balls of course they had nothing but still paid a bribe 4-5 young White guys now it’s been a decade and he makes six figures and he hasn’t been back since think of all the lost revenue from shaking down tourists with money people don’t like being scammed

Hopefully with increasing Mexican development it'll mean they get a better quality of living out of it and it'll eventually marginalise a lot of the cartels. Like its pretty easy to blend in as a scumbag when the country is not a complete shithole. I spent a year there as an exchange student in the late 80's (yeah I feel old too) and it was poor but mostly honest sort of place and its a real shame what its become since. Mostly because the average Mexican is generally religious, honest, love their family and very hard working

Mexico is the 10th largest industrial producer in the world, and Russia has likely overtaken them since they kicked off their massive industrializing drive of the MIC and gigantic spending increases which is now at $350b for 2024. Additionally Mexico produces more than most of Europe. It’s simply not the le epic zinger you think it sounds like.

Russian production has overral declined, it's just that it has massively increased its MIC.

Mexico is the 7th largest industrial producer and are still growing. They're now also stealing industry from Asia. Mexico is also expected to surpass the Russian economy this year.

        >Additionally Mexico produces more than most of Europe.

Germany still produces more than Mexico just by itself.

There’s no possibility such a small missile can achieve hypersonic velocity. Doing so requires much more thrust than the amount of fuel can provide or the engine size can handle. Hypersonic is a big missile’s game, probably SM-3 is the bottom limit.

It's probably hypersonic under very specific set of conditions, like when launched from 30kft at Mach 1.5, lofted trajectory, relatively short range to target on the order of 90km. AGM-88G supposedly does Mach 4 already despite being slightly smaller and lighter, it's not unfeasible to assume if they use more modern construction methods like lightweight composites and more expensive higher specific impulse fuel and longer burn sustainer motor it will reach Mach 5. Whether that's tactically significant is another story, but good enough for the marketing department
