No shit. Three years is pretty good if they are in heavy rotation. I am a huge fan of identifying things that work and just repeating. One less thing to waste time thinking about.
I love this particular pair of boots and ove also worn mine through after 3-4 years. But this particular model is not really re-soleable. But the company makes other models that are. So just pick one.od those instead. The other thing id say about the model in OP, is that the midsole is softer and lighter than other hiking boots. Which is a good and bad thing depending on your needs. Id say, its a good boot for daily walks, but not for multi day trekking.
Bruh just get some reasonably priced tennis shoes in your favorite brand. >But I need ankle protection and leather
Go to the shoe store and try them on.

Had these for 6 years doing out a lot, including the Alberta and BC parts of the TCT
The heels on my lowa renegades disintegrated within a year. I walk about 6-10 miles every day in them. This is probably an acceptable lifespan but it's annoying the rest of the boot is fine otherwise. I'd rather they be totally ragged than be wearable but no tread on the heel.
Everyone here will agree you need ultra heavy duty lightweight leather synthetic high cut barefoot sandals which are perfect for the Sahara and Everest.
Crocs bro here, anon. Lighter, grppier, nonstinky, and prtect the top of foot. Crocs are better. Get white, you can see um at night or while fording a stream.
Yeah because nothing beats absolutely destroying your feet on a 30+ mile hike through the mountains.... you're objectively a smooth brain if you do that, trust me, I was that smooth brain once.
took your recommendation, they fell apart after wearing them only a few times, took them back for a refund. they also had shit grip.
Crocs bro here, anon. Lighter, grppier, nonstinky, and prtect the top of foot. Crocs are better. Get white, you can see um at night or while fording a stream.
only thing I don't like about crocs is how quickly the soles wear out. might try resoleing them myself with a hard wearing compound
Not possible to resole light boots. Their midsole is sprayed hot onto a plastic frame. Like working with silicon.
, cannot be replaced.
For Lowa, that includes everything they offer made in Slovakia (includes renegade). German and Italian cemented sole boots can be repaired. Lowas factory service is pretty reasonable.
You can not fully re-sole the renegade because it's filled in a mold. but it's possible to put some new grip on the heel area and/or the forefoot area. Excuse my English. I don't know the lingo in that language.
I have a cheap pair of Hi-Tecs that I've had for 20 years, I just get them resoled whenever they need it. What are you doing to those poor Lowa's that they're ruined in 3 years?
You have to walk less than 3 miles a day for a boot to even last 2 years. Good job.
When I used to wear Lowa Renegades and Salomon Quest 4Ds daily I had to get a new pair 3 times a year. They only last between 500 to 700 miles.
Using light boots or trailrunners like Merrels, Keens, Lowas etc for daily wear is the most stupid thing you can do both from a financial and orthopedic point of view. They are nothing more than cheap running shoes with lots of foam and plastic bits instead of a real footbed.
Get real hiking boots, or stick to running shoes if you are a city gay, you don't need boots anyways.
>Lowas are nothing more than cheap running shoes with lots of foam and plastic bits instead of a real footbed.
Can anyone confirm if this anon is talking out of his ass or not? Just bought renegades and now I'm worried.
I'm the ass anon. The renegade will be fine as your first hiking boot but it is what it is. Actually I would recommend beginner start with light boots. They are easier to get used to and the Renegade is probably top of the line as far as quality is concerned.
You can expect 500 miles but not 1200 or more like with better boots like the Lowa Ranger or Tibet.
You are moronic. The ranger or tibet is not a 'better boot', they are meant for entirely different terrains.
The renegade has an A/B type sole, which is ideal for hilly terrain. Only if you are going into mountainous terrain or high alpine you should be looking at stiffer soles. The ranger has B type soles, Tibet B/C type.
If you ever saw tried A/B type next to a true B type, and try to flex the sole you would notice the huge difference.
Speaking about, if you are only going to walk flat terrain without heavy loads, go for regular trainers. Cheaper, better for your feet and more comfortable.
On flat terrain you want a soft sole to conform and help with natural human walking gait (our feet are supposed to flex when walking). But the more mountainous terrain, the more stiffness you want for support (in addition to ankle support, the option to attach campons etc).
tl;dr the ranger or tibet is meant for a different type of terrain, not to last longer or be a 'better' boot. Buy the type of boot for the terrain you plan on traversing.
Seeing OPs requirements, A/B sole hiking shoes are perfect, perhaps can consider other brands like meindl (vakuum ultra has similar fit) , altberg or hanwag.
What is most important is how they fit. Just go to a decent outdoor shop, and ask for fitment, they would be glad to help. A top dollar shoe from a top dollar brand with bad fit, is going to be worse than a well fitting budget shoe.
Ranger and Tibet are objectively better built boots. Seethe all you want.
Theorycrafting in your basement again? You don't actually go out.
I don't even keep the Renegade on my boot shelve. It's next to my running shoes along with the Quest 4D for a reason. Just like Black folk you keep them in a special neighborhood.

I just got a pair of Scarpa Mojito's for every day use and they have held up pretty well so far, no leakage and decent traction in light mud. They have heel support but not much extra ankle support. Won't be all that warm but wear thick socks. I got them £120 in sale.
not OP but this started me down a rabbit hole and I have finally come out the other side and bought a pair of rangers for £212 in a sale, thanks anon boots look good.
Next financial blunder will be the Renegade Mids because they look amazing
mine fell apart on similar lifespan, they were comfy tho and I got them on a sale, I used them only for outdoor activities and work (which is outdoors)
I wear LEMs daily too. The foam outsoles wear out very quickly, I bought two pairs at the same time and wore one pair for a year, now I rotate them sometimes but usually just wear the ones without holes by the thumb toe. I wish I had the waterproof version, just couldn’t justify the price and they were out of stock at the time irc. I did spray waterproofing but it doesn’t help, they soak through easily in snow or small puddles even.
Where is that supposed to be? Even my relatives who literally live next to fields have concrete everywhere. Work shoes are a thing too, and you don't even have to pay for them
Anyone know how Lowa Ranger IIIs feel on the foot compared to the Renegades? I ordered a pair of renegades because they felt amazing on my feet but the Ranger III looks way nicer and I am having a bit of buyer's remorse. I was not able to try on the Ranger IIIs.
The rangers are a fair bit heavier and stiffer, unless you need the extra support they would be overkill for most people. If you are often pushing through scrub or scrambling over rocks they would be a lot more durable than the Renegades.
I'm the same as you, I want the rangers because they look (are) way nicer but have to be honest and admit that the renegades would be fine for what I do.
>The rangers are a fair bit heavier and stiffer, unless you need the extra support they would be overkill for most people.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I don't like too much support in my boots. I like having mobility. When I tried on the Renegades, I was surprised at how well they matched my feet and even felt like I could run in them if I wanted. When I'm out hiking in the middle of nowhere alone I appreciate the ability to maintain mobility and sprint in my boots if I needed to for whatever reason.
I've been watching reviews on the Ranger and it seems like in those boots you're not going to be moving too fast. I think I've decided I'll just keep the Renegades and not worry about beating the shit out of them and I'll buy a new pair of nice leather boots solely for fashion that I will baby. I think it's better I separate my hiking boots from fashion so I don't worry about annihilating them. I'm going on a massive hike in Seattle next week and the Renegades are going to get roughed up pretty hard as soon as I unbox them.
Do they fit the same? The ranger III looks like it has a bit of a wider toebox than the Renegades or most other Lowas? I mean the standard width model.
nta but renegades are just all around better than mountain 600s. More comfortable, better out of box fit, more resistant to wear and tear. The mountains look nicer aesthetically though so they make a great city boot if you want to play dress up.
Probabaly going to get a lot of hate for this but these are pretty durable, reasonable price, water proof, and come in extra wide if you've got duck feet like me.

i want to buy Lowa boots
they say that they already consider 15mm additonal space in their size recommendations
ok great. but at which value do i need to look now in the chart? my footlength+15mm or just my footlength? i'm too moronic
nevermind, i only just noticed the "LOWA recommendation incl. extra toe room" in the header
ugh frick me
so its just my foot length and then take the recommended size...
Take a size up from your foot size. They're also kind of narrow. I'll recheck the thread later as there seem to be many questions on them. I can probably answer most
Just purchased these Lowas and I'm noticing some possible issues. Pic related, the middle eyelet on the left image is horizontal, on the right image it's canted upwards. There's also creasing on the boot like it's been worn already. I purchased these brand new from Baker's Boots & Clothing (purchased online) and they are an authorized Lowa retailer.
Should I return these or are they non-issues I'm overthinking? Is this normal for new boots?
Overthinking it. You can adjust the hook angle if you just put some force on it. The crease doesn't matter, it's leather, just don't let it dry out and it'll be fine.
I bought some Merrels because they were on sale for black friday. I went to the store and was preparing for the sqeaky shoes stares, it was raining and waxed floors, and they didn't make a sound. I have never had this happen and it is now a very important feature to me.
Other posts are getting way more technical that I know how to be, but if I were you I'd just get another pair of Lowa Renegades. I got a pair in 2017 that's still in use. Sometimes I used em just for hiking, sometimes I wore them every day. For the last year or more they've gotten pretty ratty, mainly from rubber ripping off the edges of the tread, but they're still mostly intact and suitable for yard work and such. I replaced them with a set of Renegades with the higher ankle, which I like even better, but after one year the stitching in the goretex at the back of the ankle is coming undone.
