Nah, those non-chemical things like washing soda and vinegar essence will do the job.

I'm not a total moron but I'm scared of fricking up her lawn or stone gaps.

So you would say this level of dirty is nothing to worry about?

moss doesn't just grow on stone it grows on dirt
dirt sticks in cracks, thats why there is moss growing there
you need some physical force to clean the cracks out and moss with it.
its going to be easy to clean the mossy cracks out of the pavers but with a pressure washer the dirt is going to fly everywhere.
a chemical won't do anything, best it will do is kill it then you still have dead waste and the mud to clear up anyway. waste of time.

My idea is spraying out a vinegar solution so I hopefully won't have to use too much pressure so I can just blow off the top of the gaps and not the sand/dirt below it

This is just a stupid idea put forth by someone that obviously has no experience. Use a pressure washer. Only a moron would think using chemicals for something like this is an appropriate solution. Just have a bag of sand ready. Anything you try will be way more of a pain in the ass. Stop outsmarting yourself.

Yeah I get the idea that I'm being way too autistic about this

I'm just want to evaluate Wich is the fastest and easiest way. Since I have never done it before, it could be that my way of doing it could be way slower than it could be

Vinegar may kill it but won’t make it easier to remove. If you’re going to use vinegar then spray it after pressure washing (to help prevent it from coming back). Otherwise you’ll just blast vinegar solution all over the place for no reason

that small drain will get clogged from the sand, you may want to cover it

oh and if you ever take on a job like this again never agree to just 'fix it', explain in excruciating detail what the customer has identified exactly as the problem and then your proposed solution or solutions.
if you say fix it and you cant you are fricked
if you say ok i suggest pressure wash will be most effective method, (or chemical etc), and you do it, and it doesn't fix it, not your fault, you did what you billed them for it just didn't work, sorry.
you wil eventually end up with people stiffing you because you cleaned dirt covering a crack in a pavement and now they want you to repair it.

      Very good advice

I was genuine that it won't look like new so her expectations are at a reasonable level I think

And yeah I took photos already

My only worry is that the pressure washer will blow out the stone gaps Wich means I have to put in new sand

Pressure washer will do the job no problem. If you set it up right you can have incredible control over the size of the jet so you can wash individual bricks without gouging out the fill in between.
Wire brush the moss in between the brickwork if you want but in all honesty you're being far to autistic about it, the mucks going to fly regardless.
If you really worry about fricking up just have a bag of builders sand and broom on standby to shake and bake the whole path once your finished to refill any gaps

Use a low pressure/ wide angle pressure washer nozzle and do a cleaning pattern 45 degrees to the brick joints. Why is op such a gay moron

The pressure washer by itself is good enough to blast all that off without pre-treatment, but its also going to blast the sand out from between the blocks, so you will need to return a day or so later when its sunny and the floor is all dry and back fill the gaps between the blocks with fresh fine-grade sand and a stiff bristle broom.

You will have to do it. Anything else, like the chemical treatments you mentioned, is going to be tiptoeing around the solution and just wasting lots of time, even more money, and getting you a bad reputation. You can minimise the amount of sand that gets lost by keeping the nozzle closer to the bricks, thus giving a smaller working area, and taking great care, but there will be some that gets lost. Best to take the L, do a quality job, and just say you paid for a learning experience rather than lost money being dumb. You will know better for next time. Probably worth doing some research into various services that people may request so you can see whats involved. With this line of work its best to give the customer an estimated price quote, rather than a final price, so you can charge more if required. The most important thing in the long term is to have happy customers who will recommend you to others and give repeat business, so focus on quality.

You could just go back and say you have to charge a bit extra for sand. I mean how much more is the sand and 30 min of work gonna be? Gotkg

        Anonymous

thats prolly like 1-2 hours of pressure washing depending on what sorta equipment you got

Gotta come back to sand, could sell the old lady on polymeric sand which is like 30 bucks a bag, prolly just one bag, can add some normal sand first to cheap out

If it gets good sun it'll dry out in a few hours

You WANT to be cleaning out the joints with the pressure washer, so you can add fresh poly meric sand where nothing will grow, thats the whole point

Go in with a stiff metal bristle broom first, to knock off the moss and algae. You could use vinegar at this stage. That'll tell how loose the mortar/sand between the bricks is. Then pressure wash.
