Yeah. Seems like the drone boats were too low profile to be easily detected by radar, and by the time they were spotted by the deck crew they were too close for the boat to disengage or for the heavy weapons to successfully be used.

The Russian ship could actually outrun the drones, which is a sound strategy that he tried to perform, all moronation aside. Still, the fact thay 5+ surface drones went all the way to small arms fire distance from a Russian warship in an active war theater is an intelligence and hardware blunder that leaves no doubt that Russia wouldn't last 4 hours if NATO actually deviced to join the war, or even just Korea or other random country since this is one next level ineptitude.

Not enough splashes to be an AK-630. Those are extreme fast firing Vulcan cannons. It probably *was* a couple of guys on the deck with PKMs.
It's possible most of the drones were too close in for the CWIS to engage properly. Base AK-630 only has -12 degrees depression, and on the Tarantul corvette its situated fairly high over the deck on the boats rear.

I'm newbie here on /k/ since I've just started getting interested in hunting, how come this board is the last safe haven against Russia shills? It's quite refreshing
if there's one thing /k/ hates it's incompetence. and russia turned out to be that. even if you might love Ratnik gear, Cheap AKs and the simplicity of a mosin or the aesthetics of a mig, the 40k frickup to kyiv, hostomol vdv getting dunked, moskva getting sunk, northern front getting collapsed, zigger depots getting himars'd and FPV footage of vatniks getting shredded make it quite clear that russia is in fact not a strong nation, but quite incompetent.

It all stems from this culture war nonsense. People hate trannies, gays and blacks so much that it becomes literally the most important factor in how they make decisions. They see Russia as cool trad rightwing country and the US as cringe compromised country. And that's as far as their thoughts go.
They appear here every now and then but right now it's basically the end of the hunting season in the US. For Pennsylvania, we have until Feb 19th for fox and Feb 29th for squirrel. Deer has been over since January 27th or so for archery AFAIK. All the pheasant hunters are pretty much gone and I don't think they're stocking any more, or at least not many more (they're not native and very few, if any, survive the hunting season). There is no one out hunting when I go out on public hunting land; I'm pretty much alone. That being said, those threads still pop up here and there. If you start one I'm likely to contribute to it and ask dumb questions about hunting with a shotgun because I've never done so before and have found a spot I almost have to use one in. As for PrepHole, last I remember it kinda got raided at some point or at least over-run with moronic bait with an extremely baitable group of regulars using the board who don't know about the report button, so I've barely gone there the last year or two. I don't even know what the board looks like at this point. I hope it's better as it WAS a comfy board. And slow.

Instead Russia is screaming towards 400k casualties multiple years in against fricking Ukraine with a handful of European toys and literally Desert Storm era US surplus. 2nd most powerful military my ass. If their nukes disappeared they probably wouldn't even be top 25 simply due to how utterly ridiculously bad at war they are. It's living proof that you can have huge stockpiles and tons of men and still be pathetic if the vehicles are secretly shit for a wide variety of reasons, the men all poorly trained slavebrained lemmings, and your officers are absolute fricking morons. It's quite possibly the worst blueballing we've ever suffered as a board.
We also tend to root for the people defending themselves rather than the future scholars and CEOs that are actively trying to victimize them.
Despite being incredibly wasteful and dumb Russia still has resource and manpower advantage. In artillery it's 5:1 sadly.

The problem with taking that number at face value is you have to factor in how many of the claimed guns actually work, if they work how badly maintained are they, how many are ancient horribly inaccurate surplus, how much of the ammo is duds in some way, how much is so bad it risks turning the barrel into a flower, and the gun crew's accuracy on top of all of that. Then good old fashioned corruption and trying to look good so you don't get sent to Bakhmut or Avdiivka. Personally I'd agree that Russia is the "underdog" now. Ukraine has the luxury of defending their home turf and they're clearly good at it. At this point Russia cannot meaningfully advance and even the smallest gains come at unsustainable costs. A 5:1 artillery advantage should seal the deal even without full air superiority. If they really have that much of an advantage the fact that it's not allowing them to control the war is telling. Their incompetence levels the playing field at best, at worst Ukraine has the advantage simply due to accuracy being significantly better.
Ukrainian OSINT reports that many Russian artillery pieces use stationary fireing positions because UA doesn't have enough ammo volume for good counter battery performance.
It's another question how precise those Russian tubes are, but they keep shelling a lot to offset that.
Reporters claim done m109 units received only smoke shells recently.
Problem is real but will be fixed inshallah
The main point is it should allow Russia to comfortably control the war and grind forward at a pretty good pace even with contested airspace, but they're not. They're not even close to that level of control. They're still sending meat waves trying to breach the same lines they were months ago if not over a year ago. The lines should not be more or less static with that lopsided of an artillery presence.
The claimed artillery advantage is scary on paper but means nothing in practice because the Russians so incompetent and otherwise self defeating that I'm thoroughly convinced a literal child with a few years of playing some RTS games could do it better.

Has not talked to me in like two years now because "I am a faschist" (because I made an argument that quaranteen is actually a viable way to control epidemics. Wasn't even talking about covid but on general level).

1) A comparatively high amount of american anons thanks to their beautiful gun laws. Means you got a huge base of dudes who either don't like russia for classic reasons or because rooting for the underdog is a very american thing.
2) Even if we got our morons here there's a fairly huge amount of knowledge and understanding around military hardware, strategies and tactics. This makes it much harder for shills to tell bullshit that gets stuck. For example: When russoid shills tried to sell us a potato-tier photo of a tank wreck as a Leopard 2 the bullshittery was uncovered within the first half dozen replies. Just because lots of /k/ommandos knof their tank-fu.
3) Historically /k/ has been rather critical of /misc/ even though (and because) lots of /misc/acks tried to convince us that we're somehow connected - we ain't, at least thats a majority /k/ opinion.
4) /k/ loves to see hyped shit fail miserably. Especially russian stuff has a very large gap between hype and capabilities.
5) Especially since Covid started, /misc/ became increasingly shizo up to a level where a lot of threads became /x/-tier. If, for example, some /misc/sters in all seriousness try to deny that nukes are real, the average /k/ommando just shakes his head.
6) I'm probably the only one who admits it, but /k/'s basic rule of "No Politics, not even gun-related" in combination with a rather tight moderation makes it hard for shills to take root.
/k/ isn't perfect. And it sure saw a lot of nose dives and loss of genuine chan-culture since I started coming here in the mid-late 00s. But overall it's still a good board.
And most of the guys here would defend the west even though it has its flaws. But all these flaws sure ain't enough to make fricking Russia look like an alternative

To me it's a clear case of home owner vs home invader situation, self-defense is within your rights to use it.
And the fact that they are not cowards and able to fight back despite the odds (remember in the beginning their capital was surrounded in a surprise attack), they deserve respect.

They were more common before the war but they don’t survive the increased activity for long, lately.
They appear here every now and then but right now it's basically the end of the hunting season in the US. For Pennsylvania, we have until Feb 19th for fox and Feb 29th for squirrel. Deer has been over since January 27th or so for archery AFAIK. All the pheasant hunters are pretty much gone and I don't think they're stocking any more, or at least not many more (they're not native and very few, if any, survive the hunting season). There is no one out hunting when I go out on public hunting land; I'm pretty much alone. That being said, those threads still pop up here and there. If you start one I'm likely to contribute to it and ask dumb questions about hunting with a shotgun because I've never done so before and have found a spot I almost have to use one in. As for PrepHole, last I remember it kinda got raided at some point or at least over-run with moronic bait with an extremely baitable group of regulars using the board who don't know about the report button, so I've barely gone there the last year or two. I don't even know what the board looks like at this point. I hope it's better as it WAS a comfy board. And slow.

It was a meta board for PrepHole. People could ask questions about the site, and Hiroyuki would frequently interact with anons. At one point, it became infested with shitposters who would post irrelevant nonsense combined with wojak pictures. It made the board completely unusable. Once they started raiding other boards, Hiroyuki decided that enough was enough and deleted /qa/. The /qa/ anons got angry and spammed wojaks on other boards for a while, but eventually things calmed down and they fled to some altchan.
I suspect that a deletion of /misc/ would go the same way, although I think the angry spamming stage may last longer.

As another anon said Russia's incompetence is infuriating. I, like many others, expected this war would never reach 6 months. Instead Russia is screaming towards 400k casualties multiple years in against fricking Ukraine with a handful of European toys and literally Desert Storm era US surplus. 2nd most powerful military my ass. If their nukes disappeared they probably wouldn't even be top 25 simply due to how utterly ridiculously bad at war they are. It's living proof that you can have huge stockpiles and tons of men and still be pathetic if the vehicles are secretly shit for a wide variety of reasons, the men all poorly trained slavebrained lemmings, and your officers are absolute fricking morons. The problem with taking that number at face value is you have to factor in how many of the claimed guns actually work, if they work how badly maintained are they, how many are ancient horribly inaccurate surplus, how much of the ammo is duds in some way, how much is so bad it risks turning the barrel into a flower, and the gun crew's accuracy on top of all of that. Then good old fashioned corruption and trying to look good so you don't get sent to Bakhmut or Avdiivka. Personally I'd agree that Russia is the "underdog" now. Ukraine has the luxury of defending their home turf and they're clearly good at it. At this point Russia cannot meaningfully advance and even the smallest gains come at unsustainable costs. A 5:1 artillery advantage should seal the deal even without full air superiority. If they really have that much of an advantage the fact that it's not allowing them to control the war is telling. Their incompetence levels the playing field at best, at worst Ukraine has the advantage simply due to accuracy being significantly better.
Ukrainian OSINT reports that many Russian artillery pieces use stationary fireing positions because UA doesn't have enough ammo volume for good counter battery performance.
It's another question how precise those Russian tubes are, but they keep shelling a lot to offset that.
Reporters claim done m109 units received only smoke shells recently.

The main point is it should allow Russia to comfortably control the war and grind forward at a pretty good pace even with contested airspace, but they're not. They're not even close to that level of control. They're still sending meat waves trying to breach the same lines they were months ago if not over a year ago. The lines should not be more or less static with that lopsided of an artillery presence.
The claimed artillery advantage is scary on paper but means nothing in practice because the Russians so incompetent and otherwise self defeating that I'm thoroughly convinced a literal child with a few years of playing some RTS games could do it better.

To answer your question: There's a huge number of reasons involved why this board is like that.
1) A comparatively high amount of american anons thanks to their beautiful gun laws. Means you got a huge base of dudes who either don't like russia for classic reasons or because rooting for the underdog is a very american thing.
2) Even if we got our morons here there's a fairly huge amount of knowledge and understanding around military hardware, strategies and tactics. This makes it much harder for shills to tell bullshit that gets stuck. For example: When russoid shills tried to sell us a potato-tier photo of a tank wreck as a Leopard 2 the bullshittery was uncovered within the first half dozen replies. Just because lots of /k/ommandos knof their tank-fu.
3) Historically /k/ has been rather critical of /misc/ even though (and because) lots of /misc/acks tried to convince us that we're somehow connected - we ain't, at least thats a majority /k/ opinion.
4) /k/ loves to see hyped shit fail miserably. Especially russian stuff has a very large gap between hype and capabilities.
5) Especially since Covid started, /misc/ became increasingly shizo up to a level where a lot of threads became /x/-tier. If, for example, some /misc/sters in all seriousness try to deny that nukes are real, the average /k/ommando just shakes his head.
6) I'm probably the only one who admits it, but /k/'s basic rule of "No Politics, not even gun-related" in combination with a rather tight moderation makes it hard for shills to take root.
/k/ isn't perfect. And it sure saw a lot of nose dives and loss of genuine chan-culture since I started coming here in the mid-late 00s. But overall it's still a good board.
And most of the guys here would defend the west even though it has its flaws. But all these flaws sure ain't enough to make fricking Russia look like an alternative
