My uncle and I havr decided to buy handguns due to the rise of crime where were at, he says we should get S&W 40 cal, but I just want to be sure, what do you guys think is the best handgun to get for a first time fire arms owner?

9mm compact/full size in your price range you like the feel of in your hand.
Thank you. This was very helpful. Is there a certain brand i should avoid? I heard glocks like to jam but I dont know if its true.
It's not, the gun world is pretty much get what you pay for ~$500 is a good mid range.
glocks are fine but the features you get aren't usually worth the asking price. A lot of the appeal of glicks come from their customizability and aftermarket support
look into the Taurus G series if you're pressed for cash
another way of looking at it is less money spent on brand name means more money for ammo
Glocks are known to jam because lots of people carry glocks. Look up limp wristing, that’s most Glock jams, they’re user induced. People also fail to properly seat the magazine so that causes failures too.
Onions sucking gays limp studying gives Glock a bad name
That is a /k/ psyop. It originates from two places, one is a set of videos showing people deliberately inducing malfunctions by holding a Glock with two fingers, the other is police shooting videos where the guns probably haven't been cleaned in a year. But anyway there's nothing wrong with M&P.
I saw a video of a Black person rappers( fbg duck) glock jam in a shoot out with 5 other Black folk.
His jammed Glock was lying right next to his body
I'm afraid that might happen to me except I'm not a Black person.
dont buy .40 just get the 9mm
other than that the M&p is fine
Beretta 92fs appendix carry
For a first timer I would stay away from .40 because
>expensive (but with the current demand for 9mm and not .40, .40 and 9mm at one point were the same price)
>more recoil
Capacity is kind of a nonissue if the guns hold at least 10 rounds. 10 vs 15 is not a big deal like some people make it out to be, people will literally argue 15 vs 17 as if the 15 will get you killed.
.40 S&W has sort of evolved into a enthusiast round, you have to want it to get into it, it does have some advantages but has a great deal of trade offs vs 9mm or .45 even.
.40 beats your gun up over the years and its a neglible difference ballistically over 9mm. 9mm gives lighter recoil, quicker follow up shots, more rounds per mag, cheaper ammo, more availible ammo. I'd say go 9mm
.40 in an M&P is really snappy from what I've heard. If you want to do a .40 get a full size steel frame like a Beretta 96 or CZ. Likewise if you want to do an M&P just get it in 9mm. It's really not that bad of a gun
.40 is good
9mm is justasgood
Remember, webm is from an actual /k/ meetup -- these are the people advocating 9mm, and I'm sure it's a very good choice for them.
So are these all 9mm.
That’s just fricking sad
>Doesn't realize that it's the same people shilling .40
That's called irony.
M&P 9mm is solid. So good I bought another and two of my friends have one. Compact ans shield plus variants both
Dont be a pussy
Buy a 10mm M&P
Practice with .40S&W until your weakness has been killed off
Then move onto shooting 10mm out of it
Maybe later, I never owned a gun before and the only guns I've shot are 22, 30.30 and 30.06 rifles and 12g shotguns.
Both 9mm and .40 are basically the same, I suggest you get the one were you live and has the cheaper ammo, since practice is everything.
IMO I would recommend the PSA Dagger, specially with the 10 mag bundle if you find it available, and at least 1K rounds, so you at least fire 60-70% of it practicing.
Yet if you are unsure or never had used a firearm before, then get a Glock in 9mm and also buy an Airsoft replica of it, that way you get used to the controls and everything in between, can also help saving some money that you would waste on ammo, but you should shoot your actual firearm once you are comfy on using it in a safe and responsible manner.
Thank you but I already closed the thread here
. Thanks again though.
It's over when WE say it's over motherfricker.
Beretta APX is good to go and cheap.
Ruger Alaskan .454 Casull
>
Glock has better aftermarket support
If you get an M&P get an Apex trigger
Thanks for the advice guys. I will be fricking myself with a dildo tonight
>best handgun to get for a first time fire arms owner?
The one that's the most fun to shoot
40 cal is a fine round. i do have a suggestion however. ive owned a sw40ve, a glock 40 in 10mm, and a sw shield in 9.
and i can say that 1911 are just way better.
doesnt matter the caliber. 1911 are better because of the triggers alone.
those double action safety triggers on glock style guns are such hot ass
If you're getting an S&W M&P, get the gen 2 and in 9mm.
