My state is about to make it very difficult to get a handgun if you don’t have a bunch of friends to vouch for you so I’m looking to buy 2 before they do their gay laws. The two I’m thinking of getting are the m&p 2 metal and cz p01. I want to stay away from plastic. My state is Delaware btw. They banned all “assault weapons” last year and are forcing anyone who bought one before the ban to register it with the cops and get finger printed and all kinds of bullshit so the handgun laws will definitely pass. They already banned having more than 17 bullets in a gun

I don't understand the aversion to a polymer gun. If you're going "all metal" don't go aluminum. The reviews on this say it actually transmits the felt recoil more than the polymer. A steel frame would be better at smoothing it out.

        Anonymous

Why would steel be any better than aluminum at 'smoothing recoil' other than being heavier?

          Anonymous

Because it absorbs the recoil, whereas the aluminum seems to almost reverberate it into your hand. The only thing I can compare it to is bike frames. Steel is super comfortable, and carbon fiber can be tuned to whatever ride you want. An
aluminum frame that comfortable is rare. It's like you feel everything bounced into your taint. That's probably why they are the cheapest frames. Get a G19 or a G26 or even a S&W Shield +. I don't know steel frames enough to recommend one.

why the p01? go with the sp01. not like itll be comfortable carrying either. that and a meme range toy like a ruger 5.7

      Anonymous

I’ve heard the p01 is decent for carry where as the sp01 is just way to big and heavy. I’ve never dealt with pistols so I have to base everything off info from YouTubers. I only own a shotgun

        Anonymous

The weight of a full metal frame will always be harder to carry than a poly one. Go sp01 for the range and a compact poly for carry. Either way it’s up to you but your choices are perfectly fine. The full metal SW seems kinda dumb when you also have the CZ so maybe rethink that but otherwise it’s not really a problem.

          Anonymous

P-01 is a metal frame anon, just an alloy aluminum one.
Regardless, I own a P-01, it was the first pistol I ever bought back in 2012, and honestly I've never doubted the decision once.
It is my favorite handgun to this day.
It doesn't do anything "the best", but I can't imagine a better "all-rounder" pistol.
That said, I do want an SP-01 as well, so I'd honestly grab either.
If they made an SP-01 with a P-01 size grip I'd be preordered the second it was announced, because that would be the ultimate in my opinion.

        Anonymous

Do you plan to carry daily? A P01 will be okay once in a while but a polymer would certainly be more suitable for daily carry.

Do you care for pure target shooting? If yes, what

why the p01? go with the sp01. not like itll be comfortable carrying either. that and a meme range toy like a ruger 5.7

said. A shadow 2 could also be a good option. If not, there's no real reason to mess with pistols as big as shadows 1/2.

Another route could be getting a 38/357, barrel length/cylinder capacity depending of the use. Or a more vintage gun that has soul, a german-made Walther PP or whatever else that makes your pp hard. You would already have a gun for serious use, might as well have a neat one as #2. In any case I don't think it'd be very wise to get that M&P as a 2nd gun.

        >the p01 is decent for carry where as the sp01 is just way to big and heavy.
        p01 owner here
the p01 isnt decent for carry. its viable if you want to force it like you really must ccw it for some reason you made up in your head. its not comfortable. its a comfortable open carry gun. as a ccw its starts on the fence where smart people would say frick that and others will be yeah i really want to then give up a year later if they buy something actually suited for ccw.
if you really wanted to force it. however you could carry a sp01 or 1911 with the same results.
p01 is small but not small enough.

the PSA Rock 5.7 is better in every way compared to the Ruger 57

Curious why? I think my next gun will be a 5.7, and was gonna go with the Ruger.

          Anonymous

Ruger has a shit trigger, the (internal) hammer is only at half wiener so it's double action every time except you don't get repeat strike capability
Also it doesn't feel very good in the hands, and the optic mounting options blow ass, it's mounting plate only and the plates are a quarter inch thick. Only 20 round mags, the PSA mags work but don't drop free.
PSA Rock has excellent ergonomics and points very naturally, excellent economics (less than $500) and has good mounting options for optics. The 23 round mags it comes with can accept +7 baseplates. I think it's hard to overstate how naturally it points and how accessible the controls are. I don't have the largest hands and have issues accessing controls with my default grip on a lot of pistols but have no issue on the Rock.
The S&W doesn't point as naturally as the Rock but feels much more sturdy in the hands. Trigger is almost as good as the Rock but costs $300 more. The funny operating system might make it worth it for the novelty factor.

The FN costs three times as much as the Rock so we're ignoring it.

I disagree, I carry the pcr (same as p01, just no rail) and it’s plenty comfortable. Similar dimensions to a Glock 19.

Op, metal is based. I think both are great choices. Maybe get a mouse gun too so you have all bases covered.

Glock 26. It is very concealable if needed, and can also load any 9mm double-stack Glock mag in existence, meaning you can throw a 33rd mag in at home or use the +2 (12rd) mag when carrying.

Buy a "full size" and a subby. I recommend the M&P and a Shield Plus. Buying two metal double-stacks is a little redundant, and while you could get an M&P compact for some added compatibility and versatility like using the bigger mags in the smaller gun, it's not worth it when you could have the "full size" and a much thinner, easier to conceal weapon with plenty of capacity and features. Shield Plus has a great trigger and is reliable above all else, nevermind potential for night sights, optics ready, blah blah.

Just buy like 20 Glock 19s because other people will actually want them.
My state (MA) doesn't even have gun laws, rather some dyke c**t made an opinion on her interpretation of an AWB and then applied it to a bunch of guns overnight without any due process from congress or the courts.
Basically everyone just complies with it without it being an actual law and to my knowledge no one with a license to carry has every been charged for having magazines >10 or possession of any of the banned items.
Some shops will also just sell you a lower and upper separately and then you have to self assemble register on your own which is what I did although I kind of regret registering.

Cajun gun works or mcarbo reduced weight trigger and hammer kits with springs, aftermarket firing pin, and replacement firing pin retaining pins. Yes, pins as in multiple because there's a chance it'll break anyway even on live rounds and snap caps.
